When you’re a mother. You are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother always has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child.

Love this 💕
A beautiful selection of selfies with my peanut. The one time I try get into that natural light and flaunt my brows and contour and Mila is like “fuck yeah, this would be a perfect time to spuke on mama” Baby vomit isn’t bad like human spuke though. Mila will vomit and I’ll kiss her straight after because I love everything about her 😂 it’s just milk. Sometimes a bit chunky like a milkshake that has been left out in the sun next to your towel on the beach for 35 minutes on a hot summers day but that’s still milk too. Ps that baby spuke really accentuates my highlight. Yassss. Slay mama!! Slay Mila! We slaying the gameeee!
INTRO TIME - this is my familia. Myself - Mel Murphy, my fiancé Rob and our daughter who is now 7 weeks old, Mila. She's only a few weeks old in this picture but it's a personal favourite! She's such a potato. The cutest tater tot ever.
A Whooole New World
I have always enjoyed blogging and writing and getting my thoughts and feelings out of my brain and onto a piece of paper or a word document and I knew that i wanted to blog about my pregnancy but to be honest I was so ill with hyperemesis and preeclampsia that i literally didn’t have the energy to write shit down.
Instead i just vented and cried to my mum and my partner about how i thought i was dying and that i wasn't sure i could carry on.
Looking back on it now, I wonder if it was that bad? it feels like a world away but it actually was the worst time of my life.
I will not sugarcoat things in my blog. hell nah.
I have wanted to be a mama since i was literally fourteen. i managed to wait till i was 24 to fall in love and was sooo blessed to fall pregnant with a baby gal.
the sickness was extreme and draining and started at 4 weeks and lasted until i was induced at 38weeks and 5 days. i was a spewy mess. literally spuked my days and nights away and looked like shit 24/7.
my mental health suffered badly too. i don’t know if it was the ongoing sickness and being so exhausted or things that were going on with robs mum etc or possibly a combination of it all but i was down. obviously so blessed and over the moon to be pregnant with an angel in my belly but i canney express the emotions i was feeling.
but as soon as i gave birth to mila... it all changed. the vomiting stopped! my mental health improved instantly! i felt like i was where i was meant to be. the symptoms of my preeclampsia were gone and all of a sudden i had this little angel bebe infront of me that i had to look after and keep alive.
i was ready. like 1000 times ready for it but like.. at the same time i was shitting my pants because i couldn't even look after my cacti without killing them and those little fuckers survive in the desert so how i killed them i have no idea.
but here we are. Mila Christina Jones, born at 12 minutes past 12 on the 5th of January 2017. an actual slice of heaven. she was all ours and i was in charge of keeping her safe and being her mama!
I am so lucky.
This blog is basically just an insight into out lives.
I won't sugarcoat things or lie and say its all easy BUT it is soo rewarding and beautiful and it sounds like such a ‘mum’ thing to say but it is the BEST job in the whole world and i am blessed beyond words to be milas mama.
Feel free to follow along and ask me questions and i will try my best to always be honest. I will never ever judge any mamas or papas on how they are feeling and i would love to be a support for anyone needing it.
Love to you all, see you soon!
Mel xo
