All our denim comes from 3 family run mills in Japan, two of which date back to the 1800’s. We visit every 18 months when possible and when we go we take the opportunity to stay in #kurashiki most people know of this small town because of its rare Bikan historical centre. For us we stay there because it’s the birthplace of Japanese denim. In the 1880’s the same decade the #dawsongarage was built Kurabo denim was weaving in this town. We have huge respect for the history and skill our Japanese mills have we consider ourselves very fortunate to have their respect and support. #japaneseselvedge #dawsondenim #okayamaselvedge #okayamadenim #japanesedenim #britishmade #japanesejeans #britishjeans #brighton #okayama #hove #madetherightway #supportyourlocal #imadeyourclothes #responsibleclothing #indigo #toyodalooms #denimlovers #indigodye #indigolovers (at Okayama-shi, Okayama, Japan) https://www.instagram.com/p/B1JK03oDGVP/?igshid=1gqm0taqvrsj1

New project on the needles. A #crunchyleavessweater made with recycled denim in a beautiful combo of green and charcoal. It’s the perfect sweater to work on during the #fashionrevolutionweek. ••• Nuovo progetto suo ferri. Si tratta di un #crunchyleavessweater realizzato con un filato in denim riciclato. È il maglione perfetto da lavorare durante la #fashionrevolutionweek . . . #imadeyourclothes #esercizidilentezza #fattoamano
It’s Fashion Revolution week (see @fash_rev for all the details & to get woke re your clothes and their human & environmental impact!) and to honor it I’m wearing garments who’s makers I can name: @ovate jumpsuit as pants, @sistersoftheblackmoon skorda jacket, #morphknitwear bamboo kimono robe, a thrifted American apparel crop top, a scrap of material upcycled from the hem of a dress as a turban, and @sevillasmith shoes. • Where our clothes come from, what they’re made of, and who made them is a super important conversation to have, and is an integral part of who and what Morph Knitwear is. I’m putting together a rambling newsletter with more thoughts along these lines (and the magic of intentional consumption & adornment), if you want to read it sign up for the newsletter at morphknitwear.com! #imadeyourclothes
preparing tomorrow's update & newsletter (link in profile - sign up for a rare&exclusive offer) with @lilyofthevalley.se. this will be a small and sleepy update to kick off the fall season, i'm saving a few goodies for darker days ahead. tomorrow's update is special though -- to thank you all for your support and in an attempt to soften the harsh energies many of us are sensing right now i've tried to make it as affordable as possible (while still adhering to our strict ethical, eco and handmade standards ofcourse!). i want to be honest: changes on social media have hit us hard, just like they have with many of my small business colleagues and artist friends. i'm happy to still be here and i'm doing my best to see this as a challenge that will sharpen our wits and strengthen our community. when they started implementing changes on instagram i was rightly worried about my livelihood. but i felt bad talking too much about it because ... so what if i can't make a living as an artist anymore? that's a personal setback, hardly a tragedy. however ... corporations are now breaking the internet -- effectively destroying it as a place for democracy, free speech and creativity. not something to take lightly. i'm doing my best to educate myself on all this and i'd love to hear your thoughts whether you are a fellow artist and maker or reading this for other reasons ;) anyway ... i'm relieved that mercury is direct again, i look forward to hanging out with the full moon tonight and then dreaming and painting while it wanes over the next few weeks. thankyou for being here xoxo
