Chapter 22: …am I being dismissed from my job?

“…am I being dismissed from my job?” “Well, you could say that,” Hakuba started, leaning his weight back against his chair. He slouched as he picked up his quill, twirling the feather in the air. “The academy is one of the most secure places in the capital— after all, that’s where the kingdom’s aspiring knights are trained. I don't believe you'll be needed to guard Conan-kun during his inspection.” Kaito stared, feeling quite put off. He had been ready to launch into a slew of colorful insults because the prince was forcing him to do something he didn’t want to— except now, Kaito was left doing nothing. “Oh. Okay then.”

Chapter 23: He’s not my watchdog—

“This antidote is already a huge improvement from the last. I think I can actually enjoy the full six hours now—” “I told you it might not even be six hours, so don't even try it.” Shinichi gave Haibara a look. “But you're the best pharmacist in the kingdom. Look, I can already walk. Give me another hour and I can take three laps around the city.” “You will not be doing that,” Haibara huffed, before she gave Kaito a sharp knowing look. “Keep him here. He shouldn't be going anywhere.” Shinichi gawked, feeling offended. “He’s not my watchdog—” “Yep, understood,” Kaito replied bluntly to Shinichi’s utter surprise.

That aside, I came up with this recently after reading the wha manga, the worldbuilding in this is super fun to work around! As much as I love working with the seals, I wish there was a way to know if they worked properly...

since this was a rather recent idea I had, I don't have much on it, but here are some stuff I thought about (and might draw in the future?)

You can probably guess, but Kaito's apprentinces are the detective boys!

As for Shinichi... I thought about him being their watchful eye + a secret brimhat... as for what forbidden spells he practices then ..? I haven't thought that far ahead yet💧💧

I sorta made up the seal on Kaito's umbrella myself... So I'm not sure how well it works or if it makes sense... but if it does, it's supposed to act similar to a propeller!

I think Shinichi should also have a seal inside of his lamp that creates the bird? but I haven't gotten around to drawing that yet... Probably a mixture of agott's fire bird and the floating light/fire spell?

Kaishin knew eachother prior to becoming full fledged witches... you could probably tell but Shinichi's hat has Kaito's clover insignia as the charm!

Honestly he’s probably watching the HD release of Columbo than playing FNaF. Since we know he has multiple media collections of Columbo and as far as I know he’s only referenced FNaF once.

do you think if we hold his Colombo sets hostage he'd put his back into making the story not only progress but also be interesting again. It's not that drastic of an idea really.

Don’t know if you know this or if it was previously pointed out to you but Kid using, “My Grandfather’s Clock” for the fake music box chime in even though it was a clue that it was fake is likely a FNaF 2 reference and is Katio kinda begging Conan to not beat him up because My Grandfather’s Clock is the only thing that keeps the puppet from attacking the night guards. And given what we knew about the Puppet in 2016 it does line up nicely to Conan. Including being smart to a creepy extent.(Before the puppet is possessed by a boy got retconned into being possessed by a girl named Charlotte/Charlie.)

my dearest sunflower~

some progress screenshots I took of the coloring process (the sunflowers were very blarghgblargh in the bg until I sat down to lock in and blahblargh)

post-editing, I kept scrolling through different layer settings (gradient map grayscale -> darken) and saw this one and was like, wow so grungy... but vibrant color was the main point so I scrapped this version lolol.

nevertheless, fun!! I feel like I finally figured out how to use the RGB slider--- I changed it to CMYK, bc it adds luminosity (with the K). I had a lot of fun picking colors by sliding the scales in relative to the main color!

Color is all about how they look relative to each other...

here's uh... an attempt at an explanation. I have the main color dropped as beige, and within the slider I can choose colors from CMY (K can toggle shade, but let's not deal with that rn)

I chose magenta from M; as I slide the M arrow along the bar, the other colors change.

I want smth that vaguely looks like brown hair, so I went for orange from Y.

adding complimentary colors can give that sort of... contrast, so I plopped some green from C.

eyedrop tool is your friend, so referencing your own colors and using the sliders to find other colors... until your eyeballs look at it and say, Mhm, yes this is pleasing to my eyeballs.

anyways... fun things! ^v^9 sorry I'm no goodie at explaining, I'm still figuring this all out too lolol.

Like they tried to change Reblogs and people rightfully got up in arms, this is a LOT worse. In order to have access to any sort of thing dubbed mature, and We haveALL seen what they think is mature, Everything from a black and white photo of a black woman's arm, to posts about IUD recalls, to a nude painted by a 17th century artist, to anything involving the word Trans; you have to send your personal information to a third party site that WILL get hacked, and you will be doxxed. And they can say "Oh shit, well it wasn't us who sent your name address and gender identity to Moldovan teenagers, here's a couple extra minutes in the ball pit.

That's bad enough!!!!!!!! But the entire idea of needing permission from state authorities to access anything labeled mature by our friendly AI overlords is some fucking Boll shit. Die Gedenken Sind Frie baby. This is all a reaction to people getting uppity about their lowly lowly rights and is being propped up by the same bad actors tht have made life unlivable. Fuck that shit.

YOu know it's always really funny when these tech giants (Or whatever you call owning tumblr dot com) get really antsy about laws considering they pick and choose which ones they abide by.
