Gale and Resist Dark Urge have such good synergy in Act II. I love the parallel between Gale’s orb and the Dark Urge’s compulsions. Both are hungry, all consuming, and terribly destructive forces that the characters have to struggle to contain.

Gale’s absorption of the orb was an act of desperation and hubris, an attempt to woo his goddess lover into embracing him more fully. We also hear from Sarevok that DU’s fall to Orin was due to their pride. DU thought themselves invincible and saw no challenge in Orin.

For Gale and the Resist DU, pride was their undoing, but the fallout paved the way narratively for their future redemption.

Let’s be real, I’m also a terrible simp for the way Gale kneels before the protagonist and places their hand over his chest during the orb reveal. It’s so vulnerable. I can never have my character pull their hand away, even in shock.

This is the reason my Durge ends up with Gale in every iteration I make her.

She is a Sorceress who is a prideful woman, she knows of her power and skill but after her compulsion to kill Alfira she’s humbled by the fact that the people around her begin to fear her.

Gale never did. He found a kindred spirit in her.
