I saw a clip of a mountain cottage today. I was content with my new lodgings until seeing it. I yearn for a home that feels like a home. One filled with the noise of birds, the breeze and a babbling brook, not the incessant din of a busy intersection and screeching machinery. I want a home thats filled with the smell of a smoky hearth, not the reek of bleach. I want a home with human imperfections, uneven walls, creaky floorboards, not mechanically precise angles. I want a home made from stone and wood, not plaster and plastic. I want a home full of life, not a sterile box scrubbed of any sign of habitation. I want a home with a garden and a pond, not a malnourished monocultured lawn. I want to live in the real world, not the modern one.
