PRESENTING TO YOU TUMBLR 2013:
FEBRUARY:
MARCH FIRST WEEK:
MARCH MIDDLE:
MARCH LAST WEEK:
APRIL FIRST WEEK:
thanks. thank you so, so very much, dreamworks. i know this is what you do to make money, i know that this may not even come from your heart, i know that this may just be a product, an invention, an item for you to sell, but you have no idea how much you’ve made my spirit lift.
i used to talk to the moon a lot, especially when i felt alone. when i felt like there wasn’t anyone who’d listen, she was always there. it’s nice, to be reminded of this little hope, this little bright feeling in my heart, exists. i haven’t spoken to her in a while, haven’t went outside at night just to look at her beauty. maybe i’ll do just that next time she comes out.
i don’t really believe in the legends, the guardians that you’ve portrayed in characters, but i do believe in the feelings, the emotions that they represent. hope, wonder, belief. it’s what i believe you try to make - a physical representation of those feelings one can’t explain, one can’t prove, but one just feels. those moments of happiness, of fear, of trust.
what i’m trying to say is, thank you. you’ve made me happier in my heart, however pathetic it may sound.
it may never reach you, this thing i’m writing, but you have made the child in me come back. i thought i lost her, the imagination i had when i was a child, but it seems that she was only asleep. and i just hope that whoever you are, the dreamworks production team, any part that you may have taken in producing this movie, however small or big or important or not; you have made me believe in myself. you have brought back my imaginations.
thanks to you, dreamworks, and all related figures.
sincerely, a child brought back.
To “A Child”…
You know, we all check out the Tumblr sites now and then to see what fans of the movie are up to; our producer Christina saw your letter and was immediately moved to share it with the rest of us.
I’m so happy that the movie connected with you and that you’ve found some meaning in it; it’s why we made it! It’s true, this is our job, but let me assure you: it comes very much from our hearts, and our love of these ideas and these characters. We wanted the movie to be very much about all the things the Guardians represent, but most of all, we wanted it to be about the thing you say you’ve found again: a child’s imagination.
That’s what drove all of us in the making of the movie. It’s why we all chose these careers and this life. The imagination I lived and reveled in as a child made me who and what I am. It gave me comfort, inspiration, and strength. It was my star to steer by. I learned that you can dream something, you invest it with some love and passion and there’s a way – no matter how unlikely – of making it a reality. It’s what let me believe I could become an artist, and then a film director when once it all seemed impossible.
Here’s another thing I’ve realized: that imagination never goes away. We may misplace it, or mistrust it, but it’s there, and it’s struggling to be free. I honestly think many people – maybe most — fight constantly to suppress their imaginations, to deny the child inside them. They conform, they live in fear, they become cynical. They think they “know”. They don’t remember how powerful it can be not to know — but to wonder and dream and come to a bigger kind of knowing as we search for what is real.
I know it all sounds a little lofty coming from the maker of a Santa Claus movie, but for me, for all of us, it wasn’t just a movie; it was our lives, the lives we lived both out in the world, and in our imaginations. I’m so happy that what we did touched you, and helped remind you of something you’d missed. Just remember it was never gone, and never will be.
So welcome back to it! (And have a little fun, as a good friend of ours would most certainly tell you.)
My very best to you, and thanks so much for your wonderful letter.

I HAVE CREATED A MONSTER
aahAHAHAHAHAAA OMG I;M LAUGHING SO HATRD
ok, yo
there is no way in hell tk’s confession to kari about caring too much about her to let something happen to her without putting up a fight is platonic—it can’t possibly stem from a brother-like concern, or even that of just a very close friend.
it’s because of the way he reacts. tk’s always been pretty damn good at wearing his heart on his sleeve, he openly cares about people and never has a problem showing it then. but his reaction to this—the shifty eyes, the way he breaks off then and stammers out an excuse before running off—i don’t think any of that would happen unless there was a deeper meaning to his words. he’s not the type to be flustered by the fact that he cares about people, and yet he is here.
the way he blurts it all out and then suddenly takes off…yeah, this is a kid who’s afraid he’s admitted too much. if kari feels the same way isn’t made quite as obvious, but i think his feelings for her are very much outlined in a very bold sharpie marker throughout this entire episode
it’s worth mentioning that in her first hallucination, she calls for his help before even her digimon or brother’s
Explanation time. Right, so to the limited amount of people who would… No, will actually read this; I’ve been looking for the heights of these characters everywhere, I found some that I liked, which I used here (Jack, Tooth and Sandy really) and some that I didn’t. These will not be mentioned. But I didn’t find any that fit my preferences so I thought I’d make one myself.
With the first picture I looked at how they were standing, I could have done all individual but I figured it’d be too much work and it’s 2 in the morning so I was lazy, anyways, North is leaning backwards so I had to compensate with more height, Sandy is on his tiptoes, Bunny is not exactly at his full height, he’s at his full height when he stretches those haunches he will be at the proper height. I’ll explain deeper, here-
Individual:
Bunny: I know that Pooka’s are at least 6’-7’ tall so I had to use that as a base line. I also noted that you don’t usually measure someone/something with ears at the tip of the ears normally so I placed his head height at 6’1" (Reasonable?). I marked the ear height and the full/stretched height as well.
Jack: I know that Jack is at least 17 years old and with the average American height, despite the fact that he was over 300 years old during the movie and that average height would differ from the average today, anyways, I knew that the average for teenage boys of that age would be at about that height so I just used that and what I thought he looked in comparison to North and Bunny.
North: I know that North is as tall as a freaking giant, so I made sure he was very tall. But I also noticed that in a lot of scenes that Bunny’s ears made him seem taller, especially when he stretching his height, than North so I had to make sure that he was shorter that Bunny’s ear height but seemingly taller to the head height. I failed. So I compromised with Bunny’s full height being taller than North. I could change that but I’m tired and rather lazy so I won’t.
Sandy: Sandy was easy. He’s short, on his tiptoes, and he seems 3’9"-3’10" I decided 3’9" sounded better. Done.
Tooth: Tooth is constantly flying with bent legs and a slouched back so she was a little trickier but most people said she was around 5’4" - 5’5"so I compared and it looked about right. 5’4" it was!
Pitch: Pitch was the hardest of them all, throughout the movie he is constantly changing his height. But I know that most of the time he is shorter than both Bunny (including the ears) and North. I also noticed that he is almost always under 7’ tall, though mostly when he is speaking to individuals or the guardians in general, so I thought, perhaps he could stick to a certain height, and then I rewatched the film. He did seem about the same height as a few other times before, so I got a picture and noted everything, Pitch’s slouch, his slightly bowed head, the fact that we can’t even see his feet. I went from the bottom of the cloak and up, compensating for the slouch and the bowed head. I’m so lucky I have a vivid imagination. Imagining this stuff in my head is cool. Anyways, there, 6’3" Yay!
I hope it’s okay. I think it is. But that’s me.
No Math was harmed in the making of this chart.
Well, maybe a little. Oopsie?
