Can we talk about how Rick lost his composure and became insecure when Morty up and left him?

Roiland did a really good job capturing his emotions with the voice acting in this scene, and the animators did a good job with Rick’s body language here, like how he just took the punch and didn’t fight back like he normally would, and just stood up wearily, and how he was a bit slouched when he first stood up, and also how they showed him doing a nervous habit like rubbing back his hair.

This part messed me up man.

RICK AND MORTY THEORY

Okay, so, I just typed up a whole huge thing on this but Tumblr deleted it and I’m too tired to retype the whole thing and include pictures but here’s the short version. (Spoilers ahead)

In the finale, our Morty was replaced by Evil Morty. The disappearance was incredibly fishy. An important thing to take note of is the fact that before the fight even started, Morty was missing from the couch. Rewatch the scene and pause right as the fight begins. The shot turns to Rick and Morty is suddenly gone from the couch despite being there seconds earlier.

Also, there is a significant personality shift in Morty after the disappearance and reappearance. Note how he’s been more disillusioned with his parents this season and yet is seen happily laughing along with them at the table. The episode ends with Rick giving Morty a suspicious look.

This is the action that Evil Morty called for. He replaced our Morty to get closer to C137 Rick, the biggest threat to his power.
