Rare original post from me and it is me being a (very mild) hater.

I did not particularly care for the finale of City Council of Darkness. I think that they completely abandoned all of the themes and core ideas of the season in favor of pure chaos in a way that to me was deeply unsatisfying.

Don’t get me wrong, I love a good dose of chaos in any episode finales included. But after the bit with the clown, I was just fully waiting for things to get back on track and they straight up never did. The ghost clown war, Gary sinise, vespers dad, doctor clown, all of it would have been super funny in a normal episode. But the show all about taking action and putting work into a small town ended with them destroying half the town then saying “the work will start tomorrow” and then finished with a big foot straight to camera bit.

This is the only season where I’ve felt like the story was sidelined for the sake of comedy, but over all I did love this season and I hope they keep exploring more game systems in intrepid heroes seasons.
