The fact that they made the mad hatter look like Brendan Urie is legitimately the funniest thing that anyone has ever done and I'll never get over that fact. In my eyes Regina did this intentionally and I will never let it go.

There’s a quality that certain books/movies/TV shows have that leads me to say, “Yeah, I can see people making fanfiction of that.” It’s something to do, I think, with how tight the story is, how much feels open-ended or like it could be elaborated on.

Something like Breaking Bad, for example, has low squiggability (that’s what I’m calling this quality). It’s tightly written, the characters are consistent, there’s little left to interpolate or extrapolate. Obviously, people DO write fanfic of Breaking Bad, but it still has a low squiggability score. Whereas something like Supernatural has a high squiggability score. Fantasy and science fiction often have high squiggability scores. This suggests squiggability could also be related to worldbuilding and potential for people to borrow a premise or setting.

And sometimes you’ll read or watch something and you’ll say, “Ah, low squiggability,” and then you’ll open tumblr and find out that everyone else seem to think its squiggability was very high indeed.

ok so ive done my ouat rewatch as far as I'm willing to go bc for some reason once we get to the Zelena arc we lose the vibes of fun and whimsy.... maybe it has something to do with how we only focus on the overarching plot now or maybe it has something to do with killing Neal/Baelfire idk but the vibes are OFF

Doctor Whale giving relationship advice

Belle reviewing books she hasn’t finished yet

Grumpy reuniting with Nova post-curse as they fold a fitted sheet (it’s very awkward)

(My favourite part) Mr Gold’s minute long ad for his pawnshop where he invites people, in a friendly customer service voice, to come back and reclaim their belongings for a price (if they dare), highlighting Gepetto’s puppet parents, a recipe for curds and whey and his special deal on poisons and curses which he advises you to purchase before your neighbours do, before ending with what I can only assume to be his tagline - “Mr Gold’s Pawnshop - I wheel and I deal”

So sorry to those of you who like him, but I'm rewatching the Neverland arc rn and wow do they retcon as much as possible to make Hook more sympathetic. First we have him saying to a poisoned David that "he doesn't fight invalids" when his entire character was introduced BULLYING A DISABLED MAN, and then we get his whole "tragic backstory" episode that literally paints his decision to become a pirate as some "noble" Robin Hood type thing???? Killian Jones is introduced to us as a bully who is clearly a pirate BECAUSE he enjoys hurting and taking from the weaker, aka what a pirate actually does. Sure you can write a redemption for him from that, but you can't write that redemption by lying about how bad he was in the first place????

Preteen Emma Swan OUAT Rewrite: Synopsis and Preface

On her twelfth birthday, foster child Emma Swan is visited by a ten year old boy named Henry Mills who claims that he has the answers to all of her questions about her past. The catch? His "answers" all come from a book of fairytales that he claims are the truth, and he believes only Emma can help him save the people in there by following him back to his hometown of Storybrooke, Maine.

MAJOR CHANGES

•As the title and synopsis suggests, the biggest change about this rewrite is that Emma is now twelve instead of twenty-eight. The second biggest change is that because of that, Henry from this rewrite is, of course, not actually the Henry from the og OUAT

•I thought about maybe doing some weird time stuff to try and still make him the same Henry, but that got too convoluted too quickly. This Henry is unrelated to anyone from the Enchanted Forest except for his adoptive mother Regina, and in a way this is why he believes in the book so much. This Henry is just an outcasted little boy who dreams of tales of good overcoming evil so hard that he will fight for them to be real (which they actually do end up being because this is OUAT)

•Og Henry fans don't worry though! I love that boy and he will still exist in this universe..... just not yet

•The other "major changes" that I've made in this rewrite were done for practical purposes (or because I thought they'd be more fun). With the original OUAT being a show that focused more on the conflicts between the adults, Emma now being Henry's protective and jaded best friend instead of his long lost bio mom means that the cast now needs more kid characters to interact with Emma and Henry AND more adult characters to fill in the gaps Emma not being an adult leaves in the story.

•To do this I just took some backstory characters I liked from Season 1 and made them more prominent from the beginning. Jefferson's daughter -who is now Alice from Alice In Wonderland- is Henry's classmate who occasionally helps him and Emma with their "Operation Cobra" Schemes, and Belle is now a Storybrooke citizen named Lacey French who works and lives with Ruby in Granny's Diner while dreaming of writing and finishing her big debut novel.

•With Emma and Henry's modified characters being explained and these two helping fill out the main cast a little better, we are now ready to move on to the actual OUAT rewrite. I will be posting Book One which covers Season One sometime soon and it will be displayed in bullet points the same way I've done here. Remember, this isn't a fic as much as it's a collection of my ideas, but I am very excited to share them nonetheless and I am incredibly grateful for any interest in this show and my silly ideas for it at all 🩷🩷🩷

Probably just gonna write my OUAT as a preteen book series rewrite here on bullet points going book by book. I'd love to write a full fic but unfortunately I do not have time and also because I like following canon as closely as I can, there are a lot of scenes that would just be the exact same as in the show. Anyways OUAT rewrite where Emma Swan is 12 instead of 28 is on its way
