You know what I love more than anything? Working all day at a summer camp on water day and then taking my child to a pool play date at her friend’s resort-like mansion. It’s so fun to be reminded that I’m a Poor.

My 90s day at camp was so successful I have campers coming to camp with their clothes on backwards because I taught them about kriss kross.

This person I follow on peloton is also in the yearly challenge I do each year and she’s close to 10,000 minutes for the year but I just saw this “activity” in her feed and I’m sorry, 23 miles in 2 hours? Babe, you’re in the car!! That doesn’t count for our yearly fake peloton game where we get absolutely nothing when you win!

But she’ll have to live with that on her conscience. Lying about her peloton minutes, that’s a sin.

I am working on a post for an education blog and ughhhhh I have imposter syndrome. I don’t know how to teach! I don’t know how to write! (That last part is actually fairly accurate I don’t think I’m a very skilled writer in regards to mechanics/conventions but I’M A WHOLE LANGUAGE KID. I TRY MY BEST!!)

I got a round of notes back and it’s just hard! I’m used to getting feedback on my narratives but to put my writing out in the world! Ack so scary. I’m not sure this will ever get done. I’ve been working on it all month!!!!!

And it’s the last week of camp! In addition to my admin duties I also run the kinder camp and I am all OUT OF IDEAS. It’s rock star theme. Today I did Disco Monday and we made tambourines to dance to abba and glitter disco balls. Tomorrow I’m doing… jam band Tuesday?! We’re making harmonicas, decorating guitars and we’re watching Dave Matthews sing the abcs on Sesame Street. I don’t know what to do.

I got my second summer camp paycheck and mmmmmmmm I love it. So good. I don’t know why I like working in the summer so much (beyond that sweet sweet money) but I really love camp?! Maybe because I was a day camp kid when I was growing up and I know what it’s like to be at school when my friends are on vacation or with their stay at home parents while my mom works. Care during the summer is so important! And I have so much fun putting it together and teaching it. I also get to do all the fun crafts and things I don’t always have time for in the school year.

Anyways. I basically doubled my income this month doing something I love. And it’s not a MLM. Yum yum yum yum yum.

I cleaned off the top of my dresser and I feel like a new woman!

(There’s still too much clutter but that’s 1400 sq ft living babes. Nowhere to put anything.)

My husband took some photos of me in my swimsuit on the beach and now we all have to eat PUNISHMENT dinners like grilled chicken and broccoli and we’re all not happy campers!

Your body is the least interesting thing about you and every body is a beach body yada yada BUT NOT FOR ME DAMMIT.

It was a lovely sunny warm day on my run this morning at 10:30! 12:30 and we’re at the beach and I’m shivering.

Oh well. I feel a lot better! It doesn’t feel like I’m swallowing glass! We have a couple boxes of pizza and a slice of Mexican chocolate pie. I have my kindle. I will will it to be a good beach day 🧙‍♀️🪄✨

It got sunny! My children are occupied with other children and I don’t have to talk to their parents and we’ll never see them again! I’m working through threeeeee books on my kindle and a couple fan fictions too and I’m on my second hard kombucha which means my gut will be soooo ripped with probiotics because surely that’s how that works. Beach day salvaged! 🤘

I’m on vacation in a cold California seaside city and I regret to say I did not bring enough warm clothes and I wish I could turn the heater on! Weird thing to want on July 2 when the rest of the world is sweating to death!

And I have a terrible sore throat and I actually went to get a strep test but it was negative!

@growingracealways I consider you my internet ENT. I feel like you have enough experience that you can diagnose strep and prescribe meds virtually with no examination 😅 but apparently I do not have strep.

And isn’t the cure for all maladies a trip to the cold coastal air? I have to say I am not having a good time.

Also, I’m at a bar right now and it took me a long time to figure out that they are playing a 2010 World Cup soccer game? Isn’t there enough current soccer to be watched right now?

I’m doing admin work in the afternoon at camp and it’s basically just running all over campus covering bathroom breaks. But at least I’m not teaching, am I right?

I found MOUSE POOP in my classroom this morning on the back counter so I know it’s fresh and ERUGH I do not do mice!

I emailed alllllll the important people and got a trap set up but I do not need to be getting HANTA VIRUS this summer.

Well, I had a nice two days off for summer. And now I kick off 5 weeks of summer camp. Pfffffft.

Self-Talk:

-my own kids go to camp for basically free

-we do not murder each other this summer

-I make that sweet, sweet money (that pushes me into 6 figures for the year, yes please 😻)

-I will still have 4 weeks off total this summer. Which is more than plenty.

-5 hours a day, only 3 with campers.

I can do this, I can do this, I can do this.

if you're having trouble sleeping the best you can do is put a bright object close to your face and look at it for at least 30 minutes. if that doesn't work you can close your eyes but make sure to think really hard about a bunch of bullshit

Already over this summer and next school year, launch me into spring break ‘27 please.

My husband doesn’t really do work travel but he did this week and damn, that man does a lot around here. Thank goodness we didn’t have school because I had a whole other job doing the trash and laundry and dishes on top of everything else.

Over my daughter and her violin lessons. I’m not letting her quit even if each lesson is torture! I’m pretty sure this is the stuff character building is made of (but whose character is being made? Mine or hers? Or her violin teacher?! Remains to be seen.)
