I don’t know what kind of fic you’re most interested in, so I’ll link a few of my faves here with a small summary and tags and you can decide which one you want to read. All of them are highly recommended, have read them (I’ve read many of them more than once).
Turn by Saras_girl; W: 306708, E, M/M, AU, Epilogue compliant
-> Turn is one of the first chaptered fics I’ve read for this fandom and was an instant favourite of mine. I always talk about importance of fiction and how it can affect you so much. You sometimes search for specific fics but then a fic finds you.. at the right time and it just stays with you. That’s Turn for me and a lot of other people. It deals with Harry later in life, being unhappy with his life but can’t pinpoint why. He questions some of his decision he did/didn’t make and how life could have been. This prompts a journey of self-discovery and righting some wrongs..of sorts and being true to yourself even if people think it’s a mid-life crisis.

Grounds for divorce by @tepre; W: 122217, E, M/M, EWE, Accidental bonding!
-> I cannot stop talking about this fic. Another one of those “right fic at the right time” situation. Be prepared to feel all the feelings, because these boys are sometimes so stupid and blind that they end up hurting each other before they learn how to love each other the way they need. It deals with a lot, a kick-start is them accidentally bonding and from then they have to find a way to live their life. They learn a lot about themselves, each other, their families. It is a beautiful piece of writing that made me cry, laugh, feel anguished, ecstatic and joyful. It is a MUST READ for sure.

-> Magical theory, what ifs? I mean, this is a brilliant combination of both, mixed with Harry discovering himself still. I stayed up all night to read it because I just couldn’t leave it like that. I love this so much, I’ll be re-reading this again for sure!
Changing Tides by @carpemermaidtales; W: 109,687, E, M/M, Pirate AU
-> THIS FIC… I mean. Honestly. I found this fic through tumblr, saw the fanart and the fic was linked down below. I’m so glad I clicked on it. I love it so much, you can’t imagine. Draco accidentally finds himself entangled with pirates and his life changes. He finds himself in the most unlikely place in the most unlikely situation. The whole journey is amazing, filled with laughter, tears and wholesomeness.
This Year’s Love by trishjames; W: 84000, E, M/M, EWE
-> This fanfic is a journey. Harry goes through so much and learns things about himself because a situation forces him to. He is a dick at times and sometimes doesn’t realise how he can hurt the people he loves. But he comes around and beautiful things happen thanks to that. Read this, you won’t be disappointed.

-> Ugh, this killed me. Nothing better than Draco and Harry having to accept things about the other one and working through their issues, finding each other in the most unlikely situations.

-> One of the Drarry fandom classics. A lot of magical theory, alchemy, our favourite boys, eight year. I’ve read it a long long time ago, so my memory can be fuzy but I know its amazing and worth the read!
Small Blessings by oldenuf2nb; W: 37020, M, M/M
-> Another fic that I’ve read a while ago, maybe 10 years ago but I remember I loved it. Harry creates a family for himself, finds a friend in Pansy Parkinson and life connects him to Draco in an unforeseen way. Contains a lot of fluff, be prepared. Lots of kids!
Temptation on the Warfront by alizarincrims0n; W: 180305, E, M/M, Deathly Hallows AU
-> This fic… I mean I love peoples individual take on what could have been, partially because Deathly Hallows could have been done so differently. This is it. Ever wondered what could have happened if Draco stood in the other side of the war? Read this, you’ll find out. Draco’s transformation is amazing, it is not instantaneous, he’s not automatically on board with Harry and for the same reason. He finds his place on the side of the Light through struggle and not always of his own volition, but he changes. Beautiful story.
Then Comes Mist and a Weeping Rain by faithwood; W: 21139, E, M/M, EWE, Post-War
-> It always rains for Draco Malfoy. Metaphorically. And literally. Ever since he had accidentally Conjured a cloud. A cloud that’s ever so cross. The summary is spot on, as they usually are. Draco walks around with a cloud above his had, an accident that leads to unexpected things.
The Four Ds of Apparition by @eidheann and @firethesound; W: 36638, E, M/M, EWE
-> Non-stop laughter. I mean, this fic had me hooked from the start. The mood of the fic is just so amaing, you have to read it. It contains one of my favourite things on earth, a healer!Draco Malfoy along with his witty nature and love for teasing Harry.
Moon-Eyed by @l0vegl0wsinthedark; W: 29699, E, M/M, EWE, Creature fic
-> Anon, do yourself a favour and read this. As stated above, the fic is explicit and is basically Veela!Draco and Werewolf!Harry. Not sure if this is your cup of tea but their relationship is so beautifully written. Draco is a beautiful smart badass and Harry is in a permanent need of a hug.

-> A good Soulmate AU never hurt nobody. They’re soulmates, what could go wrong right?
A Series Of Neighbourly Epistles by @slytherco; W:13671, M, M/M, EWE
-> Contains my favourite trope: Harry James Potter is a dumdum and forever finds himself in weird situations because he makes everything his business. Although, this was not just his fault…it’s those damn neighbours.
Anon, I hope you find something you’ll enjoy reading. Do not fear longer fics, it’s the rite of passage in this fandom, for this pairing. We love a good long fic. I’ll definitely do another rec list, because I’ve been a fan for so long, but I have to log into my old accounts, did so for this one as well.
