This is the issue with secondhand spoilers. Whether people like the FGO Finale or not is up to personal taste, but Nasu could not have been more heavy handed regarding the fact that "even if the story is 'erased', the fact that it happened held meaning".

I have mixed opinions on the Finale myself, but 'nothing matters' is not the point Nasu was trying to get across. In reality, his mindset is more along the lines of 'everything matters' to an extent that a lot people apparently disagree with. When your villain is saying 'if you finish the game, nothing you did mattered and you just wasted your time', and all of the heroes are going 'no, that's wrong, even if it's forgotten that doesn't mean our efforts didn't mean anything', then it's pretty clear what the writer is trying to say.

Thoughts on the execution aside, the Finale held the same values as every other part of the Lostbelt Arc. The only difference is that instead of NPCs being directly impacted by the closing of a Lostbelt, it's Novum Chaldea and the player. The trade off was PHH Ritsuka gets to live their happy life, and PHH gets to continue peacefully at the cost of the Lostbelts- it just so happened that we weren't 100% playing PHH.

Also, Aftertime happens immediately afterwards, so the Finale is still up in the air regarding how much will be forgotten or remembered in the 'true' timeline.

Anyways, not planning on writing an entire thesis on the FGO Finale. You either vibe with it, or you don't.

before my egg cracked, i had noticed that trans people were often pro-accessibility and up-to-date on the needs of disabled people, but i hadn’t seen any inherent connection between the two (other than the obvious minority-looking-out-for-other-minority thing). but now that i’m trans and medically transitioning, and i have to constantly repeat myself while talking to doctors and nurses, and explain things about my own anatomy to medical staff who should already know this, and having every single problem i might have blamed on my “condition” so nothing i say is taken seriously, all of the sudden i have a little sneak peak into the life of someone who has to deal with this all the time. like shit bro, being disabled probably sucks ass, someone should do something about this
