Lol heads up if you try to make a candle with food coloring, the food coloring will just sink to the bottom of the glass, and when the flame eventually reaches the bottom all the food coloring will catch fire and become one giant tall flame that you cannot possibly blow out and the glass will start to crack and then you’ll throw your tea on it in a panic and then the extremely hot food coloring will boil and sizzle horribly and then the glass will shatter. Please take my word on this lmfao

✨ Chai spells ✨

Now that it’s getting colder I feel like it’s time to post about chai spells! 

✨  Basic recipe for chai  ✨ - ¾ mug of milk (or milk alternative) - ¼ mug of water - Any tea that goes with milk (so no green or fruit teas) - Sugar or honey to taste

Heat up your milk, water and sweetener, once boiling whisk in your tea. If using black or milk oolong tea then do not exceed 45 seconds of stirring - it seems like a small amount of time but your chai will be bitter if you go over this time! Any tea other than black tea would be alright for a bit longer, but you shouldn’t need much time at all! 

Pour the chai through a strainer and serve! Drink this while hot for the best flavour (though it doesn’t taste bad if it gets cold either)

Hand of the King - a quick glamor spell to make people more receptive of your advice

*inspired by the title in Game of Thrones, which gives the holder the power to advise kings and queens*

Needed: - something that can be charmed like a pin, button, broach, or pendant - gold, brown and white candles - mirror - Your amazing intelligent self

Steps: - Get in front of your mirror - lay out your candles from white to brown to gold and light them. - wave your object of choice over the white candle and say/think: “with this candle, I purify my intention, help me to make the desired impression” - Wave it over the brown candle and say/think: “ I have friends I wish to protect, so help my advise be near perfect” - wave it over the gold candle and say/think: “let my words fall not on deaf ears, so that I might  halt tears and quell fears.” - Hold it up in front of the mirror and say/think: “Give my words a silver ring, so that I might help my king.”  - blow out your candles and take the charm with you. wear it when you need the glamour to be in effect.

After years of living in the adulting world, I think I’ve come to a realization: Manners exist to guide you to good conduct even when you’re in a bad mood.

When you’re happy, when you’re feeling generous, when you’re pleased with your gift or your service or your outcome, it’s easy to be nice. It’s easy to tip the waiter well when you’ve had a good day. It’s easy to thank the teller or the clerk when you got what you wanted out of the transaction. It’s easy to smile and chit-chat with strangers on the road when you’re in a good mood.

It’s hard to tip the waiter when you didn’t enjoy your food. It’s hard to thank the clerk for their time when you’ve just been told there’s a problem with their account and they weren’t able to fix it for you. It’s hard to think of something nice to say when your aunt gave you a crappy sweater you neither need nor want. It’s hard to be nice to people when you’ve had a shitty day. It’s HARD.

That’s what manners are for. Scripts and phrases that you learn by rote to say when you can’t think of a single nice or good thing to say from your own volition. Yes, they’re scripted. Yes, the sentiment is empty. But the scripts work in every situation, and the emptiness provides a buffer between your own unhappiness and the rest of society.

Because most of the time, it’s not the waiter’s fault that the food you ordered wasn’t what you expected. It’s not the clerk’s fault that your account is overdrawn. It’s not the fault of the barista or the stranger on the subway that you got fired today or your favorite aunt died. But even when you can’t summon a smile or a cheery word, you can still have manners, because they will serve you the same in sunshine or rain.

Self-Love Rose Tea

My go-to tea for when I need a boost of self-love in my life. 

Ingredients:

1 tsp Dried Rose Petals (love, healing, protection)

½ tsp Basil (love, courage, protection)

1/3 tsp Whole Cloves (attraction, love, exorcism, protection) 

½ tsp Dandelion Root OR ½ tsp Black Tea (base for the tea)

½ tsp Chamomile (banishes negativity, love, protection, purification)

Honey to Taste 

Mix the ingredients together, and steep for 4-5 minutes. Do not steep longer than that, or you might burn the more delicate herbs. Feel free to incorporate a personal self-love sigil of your own making.
