She was a blur of red and yellow, her hair and dress swirling as she spun in front of the flames. Scorpius could barely distinguish where she started and the fire stopped.
The Potter’s had never held much interest to him, nor he to them… except for recently. Recently the youngest, Lily, had been crawling more and more into his mind. Like right now, when all of his classmates and friends surrounded him but all he could do was watch her dancing on her own. A sigh left his lips as he got up to leave, to get the redhead out of his view, but when he was on his feet she stumbled getting dangerously close to the fire.
Within seconds Scorpius was at her side, his arms secure around her waist “Easy there,” He said, pulling her back on her feet “I think you might have had a bit too much to drink,” Scorpius said as she leaned heavily against his chest.
“Hmm, nope.” Lily said, her arms wrapping around his neck “I’ve have just enough. Any more and I’d pass out, and any less and I would never be able to be this close to you and still talking.” She said with a smile.
Merlin, it wasn’t fair that she had such a brilliant smile as well as everything else.
“Wouldn’t be able to talk to me, huh?” He asked, forcing his usual confidence in front of her.
“Nope. No way. You’re too… distracting.” She said, gesturing vaguely with her hands and Scorpius felt his own grin mirror hers. “But right now I’m still drunk, so you have to dance with me until I sober up,” She said stubbornly, keeping her arms linked around his neck.
“I like that plan. A whole lot,” Scorpius said, his voice low in her ear as Lily started to sway in time with the music. They didn’t stop when the song ended. Or when the next finished, or the next. Instead they spent the whole night wrapped in each other’s arms, neither willing to let go first.
