I graduated from art school 2 years ago, here are some things I think I’ve learned. In the words of my current client, Donald Glover: “I’m not saying this thing is true or not, I’m just saying it’s what I learned.”

Just because it’s cliche doesn’t mean I’m not allowed to take it. Why the heck not? (I think the colors are nice)

Fun fact: The majority of the colorblind population has a deficiency to the colors red/green. A person with red-deficient colorblindness (called “protanopia”) sees the painting as the one on the right! (I used my own painting as an example.)

My drawing class final project is due tomorrow morning! It’s a group project, and I have to say, drawing yourself as a prince standing on the head of a dragon is very much fun.

How focal length affects perspective.

This is highly relevant: Wider angles are unflattering because they disptort distances; longer angles (zoomed in) are typically more flattering because they compress distances (which is why you can see the back end of the cat.)

(From the movie Jaws) Notice how, as the camera zooms out (though it moves closer to the face) you can progressively see much more of the background because the perspective is distorted and it becomes much further away. The more you know! :)
