HELLO!

Do you want to know (almost) every time Mark talked about Iron Lung? Do you want to watch (almost) all of his Iron Lung rambles in one place? Well I'm insane and took on this project because apparently I had nothing better do to. (this is a lie. I'm only a little insane :D)

I also feel the need to clarify that I am just one person working on this and I am doing this for fun. So while I found a LOT, I definitely missed some things. And I am also new to this whole YouTube and video creation thing. So please be kind :)

(If you have watched a lot of GMFST and know when Mark talked about it on there pls reach out. I know its mentioned in "Markiplier Trapped", "Where in the World is Markiplier", "We Are Stressed", "WGA & SAG Strike", Markiplier... FOUND!?", "200", "Iron Lung Athleticism", and "A Bloody Ocean of Fun: Season 4 is Done" but beyond that I have no clue and I do not have nearly enough time to binge/look thru the whole podcast (Distractible alone took me like a month and I was already watching that one) thank youuu <3)

My original idea was to make a compilation of every time Mark mentioned working on Iron Lung before it came out. Which is uh a much bigger task than I originally thought it would be. My only saving grace is that his upload schedule has been abysmal for the past 3 years lol.

It's since evolved from that but that's still the core idea. I've changed it now to two different videos, one (or with the amount of videos I've found probably multiple at hour long videos...) where I include just about everything I've found but the main one and the one that I'm planning on releasing first is a more edited down highlights version (plus I've had a few other ideas for additional videos but we'll see if I get to actually get to them). So the main video won't have like every little reference but be more of a summary of the journey collected from what Mark talked about it. I also want to include some fanart and reviews/fan reactions in it to include the community reaction/involvement as well!

I have the black box data. All of it.

After sifting through hundreds of photos... I have realized that every time Simon takes a photo in the SM-13, he's pulling up a frame to a stop motion animation.

And it can be played back as video.

So, I took each black box photo and compiled them together. You can now watch Simon's entire journey from the SM-13's camera like found footage.

You can also gain access to Simon's amazing photography portfolio from my master reference project, as well as the video for yourself.

Please, have a watch. It's terrifying. I feel like a C.O.I. lab tech delving into something I really shouldn't, and it's a blast!

I already posted the video but can you believe that YouTube got rid of the clips feature? like literally a month ago. I loved that feature!! it was so easy to save funny moments and bother my friends with out of context moments. Not to mention how useful it was for collecting important moments for important research purposes (and also Markiplier videos ... but STILL). Like I was literally using it for this project and then from one day to the next it was just gone?? bruh

I was already taking notes and I still have the clips (for now) but it was so convenient and great and I'm going to be sad about that for a while.

Hello! I'm currently working on a compilation video of every time Mark talked about Iron Lung and I want to add a quick fanart section at the end of the video and I was wondering if you were okay with one of your pieces being a part of it? Absolutely no pressure if not! If you are, how would you want to be credited? And for context, the fanart I'm wanting to include is the one with the caption "and then I'm free". (If you have some specific hesitance against that piece in particular or have another you would prefer to show off lmk!) Feel free to ask any questions or clarifications :D

Wk 17 update

The edit is progressing! Slowly! but its going! I split it up into yearly quarters to make it easier to work through and I'm very quickly realizing that the "everything" video is going to be... very long. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I for one love a good 6+hr video. But my poor computer and uploading internet might not. (for context, the screenshot above is of the different Davinci Resolve quarterly timelines and their duration. They're only have rough cuts of the videos so it'll go down a bit but uh that's a lot. The main video won't be that long though! I'm only picking the best bits for that one.) And I don't hate editing yet! I'm learning that I actually really like it! I've only done simple things so far but I'm really enjoying it :D

Also, hello to the new followers! Thank you for choosing to watch the mildly controlled chaos unfold lol. I'm a little self conscious now that I have a bunch of artists following me since I have a few digital art ideas for the thumbnails/branding/etc and I am not really ... uh .... lets say well practiced or trained. But they're all going to be 100% authentically human :D. and endearing. hopefully. (I'll introduce the like "channel mascot" idea I have later lol)

I don't really have a timeline for when the main video will be done but I have a soft deadline for myself that I don't dare to make public for fear that everything goes wrong and I can't make it ;-;. But for sure before the end of summer. I think.

Oh! and the part one of the clips videos went out! Those I could maybe do weekly on top of the rest of the editing? but we'll see. Not really committing to anything for those, they are just for when I want a break/have extra time.

There is a specific kind of grief in Iron Lung that I can't stop thinking about.

You think because the stars died out, people lost their sparkle? That the void took our need to be heard? Did the Quiet Rapture steal humanity's soul, really? Or did it just force it to become more resourceful?

Do musicians scrape together two-string boxes and vent their woes to the void?

Do you think they are painting little white dots on every cold surface of their station? Makeshift stars reminding them of a sky they will die yearning for?

Do you think mothers are still trying to recreate the dishes of their cultures for their children with what little they have? Do you think they spend hours painstakingly making toys for them? Do they speak of Earth like a fond friend?

I'm thinking about the mechanics staring out into the abyss, still planning what they were going to do with their little "baby projects" they left in garages on planets that have vanished.

The people of Eden singing stories of Mars to the Tree, as if it would carry their message back through time. It's the only hope they have that God is listening. The only ear.

The biologists with notebooks full of plants they sketched by memory, over, and over, and over again, lest they forget something so precious.

Children growing up in adult clothes, knowing they will still be wearing them come middle age. A treasured family heirloom is something warm enough.
