Hey there. It's been a while.
Just now realizing we use "it's" to mean "it has" in the English language, which... makes zero sense, haha.
Quite seriously though, it's been a while. I'm not sure what exactly triggered me to write in this blog at this particular moment, being that it's currently 1:37am on a Monday. Maybe it's the slightly emotional, calm and nostalgic mood I lull in whenever I hear consecutive tracks from Coldplay's Parachutes, which has been playing on my roommate's phone since I crept back into my apartment just now. I imagine she fell asleep to it, as I can hear her faintly snoring along with the music as I'm writing this. Maybe I drank coffee too late at my parents' place this evening, and my mind is racing and sputtering because of it? Or maybe being at my parents' place put me in a reflective mood, as it usually does, and I feel obliged to acknowledge this feeling and give it justice by writing about it, at least this once time?
Whatever the case, I feel particularly thankful this evening. I'm not sure why, but I believe it has to do with of a conglomerate of things.
Notably, my dad helping me with my car yet again. I'm undeservingly lucky to have a father who will drop whatever he's doing to come to my aid when I whine and ask for help with my unreliable and (sometimes) unloved car, saving me lots of moolah, worry, and potential time wasted at a repair shop.
I think this feeling of thankfulness may also be attributed to little favors that are done for me, such as my mom buying me some baked goods out of the blue today, and friends covering for me at Mass when my schedule goes awry due to various conflicts that decided to present themselves earlier today. It's always nice to know that people are thinking of me, and that others have my back when I need it.
Maybe it's me contemplating my own life, and how lucky I am that things are going fairly splendidly for me for the time being, and how things are quite the opposite of that for a few friends of mine right now. It can also be traced back to getting to see some friends and family today, who I've hardly had time to visit and converse with since I've been home from my trip.
I know for certain that a chunk of this random spewing of thank yous is associated with my current feelings towards studying abroad, hence why I'm writing this in my old blog from studying abroad (sneaky, right?). I'm just insanely thankful for having that opportunity to live, study, travel, have fun, and grow for those four and a half months. Sometimes I look back on it and feel regretful that I wasn't able to do more, but I need to remember what I was able to accomplish over there, and especially all the people who helped me get there. My generous and loving parents especially, as well as my friends who encouraged me and helped me cope when I was deathly scared of actually departing for the trip that had been floating in my dreams for the past 5 years. I've never given a proper thank you to all the people who made it happen, so, thank you, you all know who you are ;)
Well, I'm yearning to write more, but my bed is getting a tad too jealous of my laptop at the moment, so I need to redirect my attention to my other lover. Who knew living in a polyamorous relationship with a computer and a bed would be so arduous?
