A dream come true After traveling alongside 1000 other people on President Grand Ship that left Hamburg 3 days earlier in March 1912, Ionas gazed at the Ellis Island Building trying to prepare himself for the health checkup and for the curious interview that he heard about on the ship. He is a tall, dark hair youn man with strong arms that has calloused palms used to work the earth plow. He left home his beloved young wife and 2 children with little hope to have a decent life in the Hungarian ruled Romanian province that persecuted them socially, religiously and economically. When the US travel agent came to Bistrita, the largest city close to his village and convinced the people that they have a better chance in The New World, Ionas and his cousin said to them self that is their only chance, they will work hard an come back to their families after raising money. He was terrified by the rumors about a war to brake out between Austro-Hungarian Empire and his fellow Romanians that were across the mountains- all the young men should be forced in to the battle alongside the Imperial army against other Romanians - a deed that so many could not conceive. They left Ellis Island for New York City, that strange city with a hundred languages being shout on the streets. They were so terrified about the concourse, they did not know were should they find work. They desperately need work as they don’t have to much money. They arrive in Battery Park and went on towards Trinity Church and they are shocked about these unreal and so impossible skyscrapers. The Woolwart Building is brand new and is standing tall on Broadway Boulevard. They focus on their goal- building railways will get them the DREAM Money that they need for their survival and evenmore for the salvation of their families. They arrive at Grand Central Station! The largest in the world, with 44 peers where so many rail tracks meet and combine and push trains all over these huge country. The wagons are full of immigrants today that leave for all the parts of USA, full of trust, hope and willingness to work to gain better lives! @RoyalCaribbeanUK #newyork #ellisisland #travel #instatravel #extraordinaryexplorer
