Wes anderson doing things i do: people pleasing
sorry for having to make another post this way i love how he's always messing with his hair but it never seems to move at all. also i've been fixated on that extra little touch he gives his face like i'm trying to get through this interview but i keep thinking no i want to see him gently tap his cheekbone again And again and again
it's actually like a level beyond rage-inducing that so many people didn't like asteroid city because they saw it the one time and decided they didnt get it... every wes anderson movie gets better on rewatch because you notice different background details that completely re-contextualize it for you but asteroid city is literally like a media analysis roguelike. you have to watch it at least a hundred times to unlock the golden ending where you start seeing allusions to the oresteia
wesowen are: director&his muse/director&writer/co-writers/college sweethearts if you squint and most important of all, they were roommates. yet no one gives a single fuck
can't decide which of wes's problems with his public image is funniest/cutest;
-when he's like no no i'm not a control freak. i just have a way that i like things to be done. and it's my job to make sure everything's done the right way. let me explain it for you so you can understand that i'm NOT a control freak. you're not going to let it go to print that i'm a control freak are you. are you going to hurt me like all the others??
-wincing at hearing himself described as twee at the same time as making Talking Animal Puppets in Anachronistic Clothing Avoid Swearing As A Concession To The Children In The Audience, featuring Special Musical Guest Jarvis Cocker of Pulp!
-the way that like probably in part because was so genuinely hurt by the early negative reviews from critics who called him stuck up and pretentious he's actually allergic to talking like he knows anything about anything or has any Intention to his writing at all
-the way he always gives the exact same answer to the question "why do you always make the exact same movie" and you can see the light in his eyes dying whenever it gets asked because he knows nobody how many times he gives the exact same answer it's not going to matter, nobody is going to listen, who even reads his interviews anyways, does any of this even really matter, I mean cosmically, anyways?
-whatever you'd call this
obviously there's never like one right answer to "who's the authorial self-insert character in this wes movie" and if there were just one for tenenbaums it'd be margot but we're all in agreement that "i always wanted to be a tenenbaum you know" is about wes wanting to be the fourth wilson brother right
@kyuka-bse there's a bit in the dvd commentary for Darjeeling where wes roman and jason say they roleplayed the whitman brothers to help them write it and I SWEAR Wes was francis but even without that. jeez I can't find the other post I made about this but like francis's arc is so obviously wish fulfillment/a power fantasy thing for wes right?? he just has to learn that he can trust other people/his brothers while ultimately the lesson his brothers learn is that when francis gets all controlling it means he loves them and if he tells them to do something they should do it
obviously there's never like one right answer to "who's the authorial self-insert character in this wes movie" and if there were just one for tenenbaums it'd be margot but we're all in agreement that "i always wanted to be a tenenbaum you know" is about wes wanting to be the fourth wilson brother right

do you like my new photocard holder.
Me and the Gang
i like when love is very sweet and nice and true but also simultaneously full of miscommunication and lies and abuse
he likes having his autonomy violated and his boundaries overruled it's literally good for him. he likes being given a meaningful task within pre-defined constraints that he absolutely must do Or Else. and he likes being packed up and kept in a box. send post.
i drew them at work
!I HAVE AN AU IDEA:
Mini owen Wilson
That's it, that's the au :)
great idea!! I'm sure he would be carried around in ppl's pockets. he could really be three apples tall what an exciting image
