Well, I have faith in you. That sounds like me in a nutshell. They’re so helpless and breakable, and I’m so… me. That has to be nice. I don’t know what defines a well-behaved kid to me. Probably silence.
Your faith is more than enough to keep the good ideas coming. Children are surprisingly durable -- not that I’ve tried to break one, but. Silence can also be creepy if certain scary movies have anything to say about it.
I can’t have high standards in all aspects of my life, that’d be way too exhausting.
Some of us manage it well enough but I understand if you’re not up to the task. Perfection isn’t for everyone.
I’ll happily continue to say it. Another great idea. Basically, as long as I’m not in Ohio, I’m probably good. Maybe. I just don’t know how to interact with kids. I thought so, too.
Today I’m full of good ideas, but I can’t guarantee the same success tomorrow. Most people don’t know what to do around kids if they’re never around them. I’m just glad the ones I’m always around are well-behaved. Mostly.
That seems a bit drastic. All the trash is in my trash can and although nobody else would be able to find some of my stuff, I know where it is.
If those are your standards, then silly me for suggesting a maid.
You’re a genius. Well, that’s also true. I would miss my winter wardrobe though. I do insist. We don’t want to traumatize children by making them spend time with me.
It’s been said a time or two. Vacation from your vacation in Aspen during the winter. My siblings like me well enough so I’m sure they’d love you. Something kid-free sounds kind of nice, though.
My resolution for 2014 was to be neater in my dorm room. Though I don’t think I’ve succeeded to my mom’s standards, I’m pleased to say that all of my dirty clothing ends up at least within a foot of my hamper. Progress!
By this point, you should probably just admit defeat and bring in some professional help.
That’s not a bad idea, considering I’m totally bored with all my classes. Though if I’m going to flee to another country to finish out my high school career, I might pick somewhere other than Mexico. Boo. I do not approve. Let’s do something that’s the furthest thing from that to make up for it.
Just email in the occasional essay and you’re set. At least Mexico is close enough that you can come home whenever you want. It was my idea, but if you insist, I guess we can do something that doesn’t involve children.
Because, despite my best efforts, Juilliard hasn’t decided to relocate to Cabo. I might have to let that particular dream go. What did you do for New Years?
But you could stay there until you have to go to college. I’m sure your reputation at Crawford will sustain your GPA in your absence. I babysat my siblings so my parents could go out.
Leaving a place where the drinking age is eighteen is always a huge bummer.
Then why did you? I wouldn’t. I’m not even eighteen, but I figure when the drinking age is eighteen everyone starts drinking regularly at sixteen, anyways.
Shopping in New York during Christmastime; or in other words, discovering that basically every public area is on Michael Buble lockdown.
That’s disappointing. Shouldn’t it be more about Bing Crosby for once?
It’s New York, if you must know… so I don’t think I need to give any sort of explanation on why being here is… a dream come true. [crosses his arms; cocks an eyebrow bc??? wtf??? who doesn’t??? know??? him??? by now???] You don’t, by any chance, live under a rock, do you? Or at the very least know anything about musical theatre? Or the theatre in general?
No, no explanation needed. That’s where my parents went to make their dreams come true so I get it. Not that I last checked. I know some things, but I’m mostly concerned with dance and not of the Broadway variety. And I golf, which takes up a lot of my focus.
Junior ✶ Sixteen ✶ Taken
Soulmate: P-
✖ Marie Clover has not met her soul mate. ✖ She is single. ✖ Her best friend is Bree Hays ✖ Her enemy is Raya Anderson.
About:
Plans don’t always pan out the way you hoped, a lesson Marie learned at a young age. Despite carrying herself like an adult, Marie is acutely aware of her youth. She’s prone to over-exertion, whether it’s running over dance routines past the point of exhaustion or staying on the golf course until sundown. It’s self-inflicted pressure that makes her strive for perfection. Like many Westerville residents, Marie’s father is a lawyer while her mother has been a housewife for most of Marie’s life. Marie is the oldest of five, her own birth an accident that effectively ended her mother’s burgeoning dance career at the age of 20. Her mother had just become an apprentice at the American Ballet Theatre when she found out she was pregnant. Although her mother was forced to give up her dreams in order to care for Marie, her father was determined to finish out his education at Columbia. Her parents’ relationship has thought her a lot. Even the most intelligent and careful people can make mistakes. And it’s possible to make the best of life’s biggest hurdles. Most importantly, she’s seen how powerful the love between two non-soul mates can be. Marie has never been in any rush to meet her soul mate and she almost thinks this attitude is what’s prevented them from crossing paths. She’s certain that for most of their lives, they’ve been in the same city. It’s simply been a part of her life since she got her first letter – feeling the two of them getting closer and closer only to have the tug suddenly grow stronger once again. Sometimes it gives her a headache. Marie fell for Vance as naturally as her mother must have fallen for her father. But unlike her parents, there was no happy ending for Marie and Vance. Despite dedicating so much time and love to their relationship, she ultimately realised that her feelings weren’t reciprocated with the same intensity. Of course she doesn’t blame her ex, but…sometimes she thinks it’s better to avoid him, even if in her heart he’s still one of her best friends. Marie may seem like she’s very focused on herself, and this isn’t untrue, but she does a lot for the people she cares about. Part of why she’s so determined to go to Joffrey is to make her mother proud. As much as both of her parents insist that her birth was nothing but a blessing, she can’t help feeling guilty. She wants the dance career her mother was never able to have, in no small part thanks to Marie herself. Her parents have never managed to get things to go as expected when it came to raising a family, but they’ve masted the art of making the best of every situation. After Marie and her oldest brother were born, her parents decided a third and final child would be manageable. Miraculously, Odette Clover gave birth to triplets, who would prove to be a handful only nannies could assist with. Despite the age difference between Marie and all of her siblings, her family is more close-knit than anyone would have thought possible. Now that the Clover household is nanniless, Marie lives at home to help look after her youngest siblings. Considering how chaotic her life often is, the P on her wrist is the farthest thing from her mind.
Relationships Explained:
BREE HAYS: Although Marie and Bree haven’t gone to the same school or even lived in the same city for years, Marie finds herself thinking of Bree as her best friend time and time again. She knows that Bree can be harsh and downright nasty, but she’s so much less over Skype calls and text messages. In some ways, Marie thinks that the distance is what keeps their friendship so strong. She’s certain that she knows Bree in a way that nobody else does and it’s this person who she calls her closest friend. RAYA ANDERSON: There’s no dramatic story, because Marie isn’t into dramatics or starting fights. It just seems that the two of them don’t get along – or rather, they’re always trying to prove that they’re better than the other. Marie isn’t interested in constant drama, but if Raya is in her way, then she’ll try her best to take her down and out do her. They’re not really enemies, more like academic rivals.
I’ve only been back home a few days and it already feels like I never left to begin with.
The family’s still………… as proud of me as ever.
Assuming wherever you’ve been is better than Ohio, that sucks. You should probably feel grossed out by your current surrounding. I don’t know your life story but I’m an expert sarcasm detector so that also sucks.
“So, I got my first job at Breadstix. It’s not bad…except for the part where I reek of Italian food. I don’t think I’ll ever be craving another plate of spaghetti and meatballs again.”
“I guess that means you won’t be reenacting Lady and the Tramp any time soon.”
Anyone has any advice for my first time flying on a plane? I think my nails can’t take any more biting.
