“Okay.” Marilyn couldn’t quite think of another response that would have been appropriate in the moment. Most people were scared enough to keep their distance from her and those who did spend time with her usually needed her for some reason or the other, but it seemed as if her very human son was determined to know her for her. It was a strange concept to say the least. It would be even stranger if he ever discovered that she had centuries of experiences to share. “Think of it as a professional development day rather than a sick day. I expect a full report on the town and possible threats the next time you report for work.”
