i guess i can't escape animanga tumblr at all the second i saw this trailer on twitter i screamed bc 1.) i was thinking about ancient magus bride when i celebrated the beautiful ending of sacrificial princess a few weeks ago and 2.) ?!?! ppl aren't really talking about it on anitwitter?

i'll never forget how thrilled i was when i stumbled upon the curious thumbnail of mahou tsukai no yome online and found it to be my perfect spiritual successor to the "earl and fairy" celtic lore of my youth. double that emotion when its first anime adaptation came onto my screen (somewhere in that video i linked is a mini essay comment of my thrills LOL) and led to many excited moments of pretty colors and sequences.

now i'm not even just thrilled i feel super satisfied (^-^) people love the world kore yamazaki has created with its odes to different mythologies and story that has so many cheering on precious chise's happiness. i'm hoping the fact that the original season 1 staff are making their own studio to produce season 2 means the series is having natsume yuujinchou-level projections of success--will forever stan brain's base for natsume + its offshoot studio shuka!

hope all the shoujo + fantasy fans on tumblr are having a field day bc i know i'm most definitely ready to see chise's college days come to life 🥺 so excited to see all the fellow students! am also again really really hoping the formation of studio kafka signifies ancient magus' bride's ability to succeed in the mainstream (>.<)/ fingers crossed here! (there was even actual fantasy erotica inspired by it so you never know--LMAO i'd read the actual book on KU before seeing vtuber twitter explode over it so if ppl are curious look up duskwalker brides)

marimoirl moment: i'm in a really weird limbo stage right now in life trying to job-hunt while staying afloat money/mental-wise but i was happy to not feel super existential over something happening next spring for once aha. i'm really looking forward to having the whimsical-magic-and-peaceful-yet-melancholic-atmosphere of ancient magus bride 2 come into the world next year 🥺🤞 am also keeping my fingers crossed that my life will look a bit different in the right direction by then!

yet another comfy princess shoujo over 🥲 good-bye to another 1/3 of the "monster-that-is-secretly-everyone's-aesthetic" aka back when mahoutsukai no yome, totsukuni no shoujo, and niehime to kemono no ou were all going strong around the same time

actually a lovely ending and i'm happy holding out for the translation over the years wasn't a painful wait but more of a nice treat whenever a new chapter came (you know what i mean?)

this is coming straight off of solo leveling's anime reveal (no surprise but still super 🥳) so i just feel so so so happy that this could be an escalating trend since more japanese brands are accepting korean creative works! (raeliana just had its 7th kadokawa manga release today 7/5/22 it's got to be selling well i imagine <3)

this has been a tepid but sure trickle since 2016ish (tbh the 2010s as a whole but ppl still don't realize how korean animators have made most ppl's past decade of anime hits u-u) w noblesse x production ig so i'm vibrating w excitement to see what other titles end up getting popular and adapted!!

i wanted to wait for more chapters to roll out so i could compile more images but my head's kind of spinning with how ppl are diving into the manga now that the anime has made its (mid) impact and speculating/analyzing so i'm just going to get this off my chest now but !!!! can i just voice my appreciation for record of ragnarok's art!

i can't find much info on the illustrator ajichika except that they are a collective of artists and if that's true then i think it shows with the versatility of the manga's art! you go from seeing overly detailed anatomy that give a dramatic/vaguely grotesque effect like baki or other hype shonen series (i.e. toriko, history's strongest disciple kenichi) to THIS:

but fr i was so struck by certain one-off panels where you just see these silly, chilling, or in the case of jack's sister + sasaki--delicate expressions that really capture the deeper aspects of various character arcs.

jack's sister subtle smile of relief to support her estranged brother is really heartwarming to see (really hope this isn't necessary to say but my appreciation of this emotion extends to the fictional version of jack provided by this story...not the real killer...i'm really hoping the jack the ripper tags flooding animanga tumblr aren't crossing over into true crime things ah)

and sasaki's chuckle of victory!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (again, not happy with how it ended up in the anime at all) i really love that picture not only for its lighting + linework but bc of how it really solidifies the humble nature of behind the tenacious kojiro who never really sought victory just to win but strived to win as a means of mastering the swordsmanship he loved so much

but yes just wanted to geek a bit i really loved these small details and i appreciate ajichika doing what they can to bring the manga writers' visions to life--crazy to think that if they're a duo then that means record of ragnarok is made by 4 ppl together!

kekeke it's been a while since i've read a new slice-of-life manhwa and this one i found seems so promising!! in just the first few panels alone there were so many funny expressions by the mc and i'm hoping for more rom-com funny moments to happen. the ml still seems to have a huge soft spot in his heart for mc and i'm looking forward to learning more about their previous marriage arrangement from their university days together
