Roxy was aware that she had overreacted. But the girl had a temper that was hard to control. After everything what happened, honestly, she just wanted it to be over. She didnât know what was happening at the police and how they were proceeding, but she could just hope it would be over soon. Her arms crossed in front of her chest, angry eyes listening to the other woman speak. She frowned, her arms releasing once she realized that she was behaving like a child. She was no child. She was an adult. Thatâs what she had been telling her family for all these years, just to end up sitting here and spitting words like a twelve-year-old.
A sigh left her parted mouth, eyes closing for a moment as she was re-thinking her options. Of course she knew it would be dangerous to return. She had seen stuff she was not supposed to be seeing. Yeah, the neighbourhood she lived in wasnât the best, but was it really THAT bad? If her mom knew she would immediately order her back home.Â
âOkay.â She finally agreed, after a while. âBut I have a few conditions.â A hint of a smile spreading across her features, as she waited for the woman to approve first, before she would continue. âI donât have to tell anyone the truth. Thatâs my condition. Iâm not eager to have my head chewed off instead of being killed. And you need to help me convince them with a lie. Also â if my family or friends insist on coming to visit, you have to help me convince them not to come. Because if Iâm doing this, then I want to know they are safe.â Even if someone was following her around and found her even in this safety program, as long as her loved oneâs werenât harmed, she could take it.
If anybody could describe Mariana, they would never use the word sensitive. And she wouldn't be surprise if nobody ever did. She understand how people will react to the news of being put into a witness protection program. Hell, she even remembers how her mother reacted to the news. But she was never the type to be sensitive unless it was about certain topics. She was more of the type of person that needed to tell people the hard truth no matter what. In this case with Roxy, she wanted to explain in the best way possible. And the only way was fast and yet hard to hear. But it didnât stop Mariana because she needed to let her witness know the full risk of being apart of the witness protection club.
It took everything that Mariana had to not roll her eyes during Roxyâs speech, it wasnât anything she never heard before. A witness first thought is about their family and friends before thinking about themselves. She always thought it was funny how people think about others before themselves. But she wouldn't be the one to talk since it's her job to look after and protect others. But still, it was hard having to hear the same speech every time. It was even harder to tell these witness about how their lives will change.
Mariana crosses her arms over her chest as she looks down at Roxy. She was hoping it wouldn't take her years to figure out what she wanted to do. Even though, she wouldn't mind giving her a day to think things over but still, itâs easier when they figure it out in the beginning. She gives her a small smile as she sits back down across from her. She opens her mouth to speak before hearing about her conditions. âOkay, Iâm listening.â She told her after a moment. She leans back in the chair as she listens to her conditions. She thinks it's over before speaking. âI will agree with those conditions. The only condition I have is, listen to everything I tell you do. Well, I guess not everything but I think you get what I mean right? If so, it's a deal.â She tells her as she puts her hand out to shake.
