Looking her friend over, she took a breath. She could tell she wasn't doing peachy, but she wasn't about to pry either. Especially when Tanner didn't seem to want to talk about it. "Let me look around." She told her before going to where they kept lost phones and finding one in there. Coming back, she put it on the bar. "Is this it?" She asked curiously. "Yeah?" His brow raised curiously in her direction when she mentioned cooking for him. "I ain't the best cook but I've learned a few things over the years from the cooks at the pub." He handed off a plate to her, "Lots of things you do surprise me but never in a bad way." His admittance fell easily from his lips. "You are full of them, the surprises that is." Mateo's lips twitched with a smile. "But I promise I'm not complainin' about that or you. Not ever." @marixdominguez

Mari nodded. "I learned a few things from the cooks my parents had. I'd sneak into the kitchen and they'd let me help or teach me what to do." She told him and took the plate. "Oh? Like what?" She asked, a smirk on her face as he talked about her surprising him and being full of them. "Good. I'm glad you're not going tired of me yet." She laughed, but it was true. She was scared that eventually he would. Or that he'd find someone else and that this would all be over. Her thoughts went to finding her ex with someone else for a moment, causing her face to fall, but she cleared her throat and went to the table, putting on a smile again. It was a surprisingly slow afternoon at Wingman's Pub so Mari was taking the opportunity to do some work on an event she was planning for the Fourth of July. She had been loving doing the events for the bar lately and wanted to keep doing it. It was something she felt she was really good at and was happy to be doing it. She heard the door open and she looked up to see Tanner walking in. "Hey." She put her stuff aside and walked over towards her. "How are you doing?"

"I was thinking the same thing but if you needed to eat on the move I certainly wasn't going to stop you." Arlo laughed, taking a seat at a table that wan't too far from them. "This certainly smells incredible." he spoke, placing the plate on the table and handing her a knife, spoon, fork and napkin he'd collected and taking a seat next to her. "I figured I'd sit here so that we don't have to pass it across the table." he laughed. "Go ahead, I'll have some from this side." @marixdominguez

She shook her head. "I have no where to be." She said and smiled ass she joined him. "So this is perfect." She took the utensils and napkin from him and nodded. "I like the thought of that. Better here between us where we both can get what we want." Mari began cutting into the funnel cake and got a little bit of everything for the perfect bite. Once she did, she smiled and nodded. "This was the perfect combination. You have to try it." @arlocontreras

Arlo listened, nodding as she said the ice cream and maybe some strawberries would be good. "I'll get it with strawberries, I think you have a point." he smiled, doing just that. It was only once the order was in his hands that he returned to the other. "This looks and smells fantastic." Arlo nodded, smile widening. "There's a table up ahead right there that's empty; if you want to sit. I'm also okay with walking and eating." he shrugged. "I've somehow mastered the art of walking and eating - would even say I'm better at it than I am sitting and eating sometimes." @marixdominguez

She smiled at him as he agreed about the strawberries and nodded. "Perfect." She paid and once it was done, they were walking away from the stand. "It does." She agreed before nodding about the table. "No, sitting and eating is perfect." Mari told him, going towards the table while laughing. "That's definitely nice, but might be a little harder when two people are trying to eat." She pointed out and sat down. @arlocontreras

"Yeah, we can look at both." He nodded his head in agreement. The work he put into the house brought a sense of fulfillment for Mateo. No one could take that from him. He had done this on his own, for himself and no one else. It meant that he had completely separated himself from his father, not that the man seemed to care. Nor did he care now, still. Mateo didn't even know where he was. "Good," he gave her a faint smile, loading up the plates with food. "I'm really glad you came over tonight." Mateo looked to her, features softening as they often did when he was around her. @marixdominguez

She watched Mateo closely as he filled the plates up with food. Her face was soft and a smile was fixed on her lips. As he looked at her, she saw him soften and it made her heart swell. "I'm glad I came over, too." Mari was glad to spend any time with him, but this felt different. A good different. "I'll have to cook for you one day. You'll be surprise of how good I can cook." She said, smiling. @mateoxtorres

"I don't think people pay as much attention to what I'm doing sometimes as I think they do." he laughed. "But I agree. Plus sharing one with someone is going to be better anyways." he stated, eyes focusing on the other. As she agreed to the one with ice cream he smiled, taking a step ahead of her so that he could order for the two of them. "Do you want any additional toppings or just the ice cream? No preference on my end but it's really sweet just with the ice cream, so I'd stray away from too much personally. But don't let me opinion sway you." @marixdominguez

She nodded. "I understand that." She was used to feeling like people were watching her, but knew in Kismet Harbor, things were better and she didn't have to worry about that as much. "It is." She agreed and watched as he stepped up to order the dessert. "I think just the ice cream is perfect." Mari said, agreeing that they shouldn't overdo it. "If anything, maybe some strawberries." She said while getting her wallet out so she could pay for it. @arlocontreras

"Great," it wasn't the best deal she had ever made with someone. Kennedy knew that, but when it came to running into people in Kismet Harbor, there was something about offering to spend a little extra time with them that just made sense. Shifting everything in her arm, she introduced herself. "I'm Kennedy Hawkins." She shook the woman's hand gently, but still firmly before letting her hand fall back to herself. "It's nice to meet you." She said with a smile before shaking her head. "I don't mind. Cobblestone is just right there." She said and pointed to the cafe. "Do you wanna go there?" She didn't mind if they didn't. It was just the closest place and with the other woman's arms full, she thought maybe that'd be best. "Do you need help carrying anything? "I'm so glad you asked because I'd already decided I was going to ask the next person that came this direction if they wanted to split one but I'm glad that it was you." he exhaled. "So you saved me from getting a few looks." he laughed. "Did you want one of the loaded ones? That have the ice cream and the fun toppings or did you want to just do the traditional one?" he paused. "There's no wrong answer I'm just curious because I truly can't decide." @marixdominguez

At the mention of pictures, Mateo's lips thinned while he thought. "If I've got any photos, they're in a box in one of the closest. Takin' photos on a cell phone wasn't really a thing back then. Or we might be able to look up the listin' from back in the day." He had lived there from the get-go, so if the original listing could be found, it would show its previous state. "We can look after we eat. Honestly, I've been here so long, even I've forgotten what it used to look like." The admittance found space in the room, making him feel a little lighter after saying it. @marixdominguez

She listened to him and nodded. "We'll have to take a look at both." Mari was honestly excited to see the pictures and see all the work he put in. Something about it just filled her heart and she found herself even more attracted to Mateo than she was before. Maybe it was she knew he could work with his hands. "No, I don't think that's bad." She would have shaken her head if she wasn't laying down on the massage table. "Maybe it just means you've lived more than the rest of us, mainly me." Genoveva's laughter was muffled some it came out softly. "You're welcome though. I wanted to do this and honestly, I needed to slow down more than I realized." Gen's sigh relaxed her body even more as the masseuse worked her over. "So tell me, how's it going with that hot, broody bar owner of yours?" She hadn't ever thought that someone would catch his eye but she couldn't be surprised it was Mari either. She had a way of pulling people right in. @marixdominguez

Kennedy wasn't as careful about putting the papers together as the sidewalk was hardly the place to reorganize. "It happens to the best of us, really." The blonde assured, making it known that she wasn't upset about the nature of the incident. With the sun setting over the horizon, Kennedy was just glad it wasn't raining while the papers had escaped her hold. "I think so." She thinned her lips, looking around on the ground near them. "I would be surprised if the papers got that far away." Kennedy paused, "But if you're free for a drink, I could happily use one while going through these papers just to check." @marixdominguez

Smiling, Mari nodded. "I'd definitely love to help out for a drink." Though, she would anyways. She felt bad and wanted to make sure whatever the other was working on wasn't ruined because of her not paying attention. She waited for the other to lead the way and once they started walking, she smiled and looked over at her. "I'm Mari, by the way. Mari Dominguez." Mari loved a good event and the Jazz & Blues festival was definitely that. She enjoyed walking through the park and listening to all the music. Plus, seeing all the vendors and getting food there was definitely a plus. As she was looking over a menu, she looked to her right and smiled at the man near her. "Hey, you wanna go halfsies on a funnel cake? I definitely can't eat a whole one."

Mateo opened up his beer, the hiss of the cap being popped off a familiar sound. His gaze remained on her, taking her in as she looked around his place. Mateo smiled easily around her, much more easily than he often did. At her question, he didn't answer right away. "I've lived here since I was eighteen. I moved out after I was old enough and had been able to save up enough for a shit hole of a house." Though it was not that anymore. "And spent the last few decades working to make it what it is now." A project that he held an immense proudness for. @marixdominguez

She turned to look at him as he talked and smiled as she listened, her eyes going around and then back at him. "It's amazing. You did a great job with it. Do you have any pictures of what it looked like before?" Mari asked. She would love to see the whole transformation of the place. She had never knew someone to do all the work themselves and not just hire someone to do it. That's what her parents did when they wanted something renovated. It'd be interesting to see the change and know who did it. @mateoxtorres

Genoveva had been getting to know Mari since she arrived in town. They'd shared far too many laughs and exchanged looks over people watching in Kismet Harbor's local establishments. Mostly with copious amounts of alcohol. Today, however, she thought she'd treat them to something different. A sigh fell from her lips, her expression holding for a brief moment. "I can't remember the last time I had a massage, honestly." Taking care of herself looked a lot different when she was up well before dawn and exhausted by lunch time with her work schedule.
