Spent some time shooting high school football practice last week with a flash.

Bay City River Roar— a 1-1/4 mile course, 700 feet wide with seawalls on both sides. Formula one racers can get up to 120 MPH. Pretty cool to watch.

Since the age of the Romans, the valley of Rosia Montana has been a natural resource phenomenon in the Apuseni Mountains of Romania. Rosia Montana has the largest gold deposit in all of Europe and the third largest in the world. At an estimated value of over 20 billion dollars, the valley has experienced dramatic change in the last 30 years, especially after Gabriel Resources (a Canadian mining company) purchased the mine. All the years of mining have altered the landscape, and in this case, the old mining runoff flows down into a stream making it unusable. Ironically, the runoff filled streams literally gave Rosia Montana—Red Mountain— it’s name.
