i really want tag and bas to be together for a while. i want to see rupert suffer — not in a bad way, but you know what i mean. i think bas genuinely does care about taggie, at least in the series. the book is a different thing; i know what happens there, but they’re not following the book, so i think we’ll be surprised. i can’t wait.

You know what else gets to me.

The Boys are the reason that all of this happened. If Butcher didn't come gunning for Homelander he wouldn't have found out about Ryan. He wouldn't have killed Stillwell. He would have been the same "docile" dog he's been for decades. (Presumably ofc)

They angered the dog. Even though their goal was to "take down Vought" they killed the dog that bit them instead of going after the breeder. And now they're just hanging up the cape and letting life go on as if everything's okay while congratulating themselves for a job well done. Cool.

Effectively the boys had no impact on the world. Without them everything would be fine with Vought standing tall. Which... is exactly what's happening now. We could have just had a little less bloodshed.

A-Train refusing to help Annie and Kimiko saying he has a family to protect. A-Train changing his mind after meeting his brother because he truly changed and is the hero he was supposed to be. Reggie showing up to the interment camp to save Hughie’s life because he first destroyed it. Reggie on the run from Homelander and tripping into a ditch just so he wouldn’t obliterate that woman into guts like he did Robin. Reggie finally accepting the fact that Homelander is nothing but a weak pathetic sniveling bitch, nothing but an empty suit who wants to feel more loved than he actually is. Reggie dying laughing in joy seeing Homelander crying because he didn’t think the fastest man alive would run away from him too. the first episode fucked me up BAD

I won't lie, as much as I wish someone like Annie or even Butcher to be the one to do Firecracker in, I think I like way the show handled it better. Mainly for the symbolic reasons.

We have the supposedly devout Christian literally and metaphorically throwing her faith away so that she can prop up Homelander as a false idol. Only for her to meet her end at the hands of the devil she sold her soul to.

Then there's the extra symbolism of having a character who is obsessed with all things America bleeding out on a symbol of America.

But it's also a great contrast with how A-Train died at the start of the season. One died bravely laughing at the face of death to sacrifice himself for the greater good. While the latter died pitifully and timidly, begging for her life while she stood for nothing but her own gain. One figuratively saw the light, the other embraced darkness and died alone. It's not at all subtle, but it is fitting.

Kudos to Valorie Curry for playing such a loathsome yet pitiful character. Her sendoff was beautiful and I hope she gets noticed more after this.
