It’d been foolish of her, she realized that now, but right up until the door had swung open and she had come face to face with Markos Obelix- Rhea had trusted the system. After all… the school wanted to keep all it’s students alive and kicking, right? And if Dumbledore’s reign had taught her anything (aside from the fact that he wasn’t that great a headmaster), then administration had to know that the Windsor’s had had a bit of a run in with the Obelix boy, because they kneweverything… or so she’d thought. Either they weren’t keeping that great an eye on the students in their halls, or they had stopped caring about the safety of the same, and now she’d been confronted with her new roommate, Rhea had to wonder if it was maybe a bit of both. The glass he held shattered and she was shaken from an alarm-induced fog with a violent jump, but instead of taking a step back- as might’ve been wise- she stayed frozen in place like a deer in headlights, eyes wide. “Markos-” the gears in her mind were whirring, moving her past the initial ‘oh no’ stage, but not getting her too much farther. It was understandable to feel uneasy- the last time they’d crossed paths, he’d broken her brothers hand and been flung a few too many meters by yours truly, and between that and the whole ‘you should be dead’ thing, things had just gone… badly- but she wanted, desperately, to find her courage and do more than stand there mute. She wanted to not be intimidated, even if she was, but all she was able to manage, finally, was- “You should clean that glass up.”
“I should, shouldn’t I?” His lips moved slowly, his eyes moving even slower as they rotated away from her face to the floor, his hand hovering where it had been as if he were still holding the glass. His hand was cut up pretty bad, the only testament to his mortality that had yet been evidenced. Well, that and his permanently goofed-up hearing. He reached for one of the sink towels and carefully dabbed his hand, after making sure no glass still remained in the wounds. “I expect the last few months of your life have been prosperous?” he asked-- his convoluted way of making small talk and asking ‘how have you been?’.
