I was just wondering what age Mark is? Google says he is 23, born 1993. But I remember seeing a gif set of youngjae or bambam saying Mark would be 25 next year

Sorry if this is late! Mark is born 1993, but because of the Korean age system, he would be 25 Korean age next year. (But 23 international age next year before his birthday)To put it simply, if your birthday has not passed, you add 2 years to find your Korean age. If it has passed, you add 1. But they remain the same age during the whole year since they only add a year to your age during Jan 1.

I wonder what Mark's old high school friends think of his aegyo now hahaha

Hello! I'm really in love with Mark but I'm curious about something! I was wondering if you knew why Mark was casted in LA! Don't get me wrong, Mark is one of my biases and I love him, but I watched an interview where he said he didn't learn Korean, martial arts tricking, dancing, or singing until he actually got to Korea. So what was the appeal? Why did the JYP agent suggest he audition? I hope this doesn't come off as me disliking Mark, because he truly is adorable and I love him! Thanks!

Hey there! Mark has mentioned in interviews that he never planned on being a singer, and that he was just a normal student. He was street casted by a JYP representative, and street casting in Kpop is usually because they are especially handsome/good-looking. He was suggested to audition and he went along just to try.

Personally, I think that those who have never learnt anything until they got to Korea, yet audition successfully is because they have hidden potential.

And no, you don’t come off as disliking Mark! He’s so cute and lovable <3

Mark's dad is Taiwanese and his mum is American that's why his last name is Tuan. Tuan is common for Taiwanese as well.

Yep, I know that his dad is Taiwanese, but I’m not sure about his mum cuz I don’t think they ever said anything about that. And yea, I know that Tuan is a Taiwanese surname, just wasn’t sure about how common. But thanks for the info

Do you know what type of girls Mark likes

Correct me if I’m wrong, but from what I remember, I don’t think Mark has ever specified what type of girls he likes. When asked about his ideal type, he usually says something along the lines of ‘a girl who makes me want to be with her, even though she might not be the best’

Hi, this is my first time asking a question, so let's see how this goes. I know Mark is Taiwanese and born in America, but Tuan is a Vietnamese name. I know that, because I'm Vietnamese and that was my dad's name. I would just like to be informed on how this is possible or if Tuan is a Vietnamese and Taiwanese name. Thank you and sorry for my terrible punctuation!

This has honestly been sitting in my ask for a long time, sorry! I did a bit of research, and the surname Tuan is both Vietnamese and Taiwanese, though I don’t really know why :P It’s probably most common in Vietnam, though there are Chinese with this surname.

In Chinese, Mark’s surname is actually pronounced ‘Duan’. But based on what I know about Chinese surnames, the way it’s written out with the english alphabet could vary for the same Chinese character.
