kronosxonas:
The ability to read people was both a blessing and a curse. It was perfect for his job in a time when humans lived in ignorance but coming to this place full of disdain and irritation, Kronos’ ability felt more a curse every day. He could see it in their eyes, especially those that had a hard time holding back their emotions. The librarian for one, this tattoo artist and another witch as yet another prime example. Before the witch had made his appearance, Kronos surveyed the area all the while offering his smiles and polite gestures to the assistant. It was a perfect view of the crime scene, a perfect spot to survey further trades. It was his voice, however, that surprised Kronos above all else. His voice had been heard before but he wasn’t sure where. There was familiarity in such a simple idea but it was such an idea that wormed it’s way into his dead heart and remained to help it beat once more. For a simple moment he hesitated. How long had it been since he hesitated? “Police.” He answered before he forced his eyes away from the witch. Somehow he was putting a spell on him and he didn’t know how. Kronos was scared but also desperate. “I apologize for the inconvenience but this spot is perfect to watch across the street. May I impose upon your hospitality for a day or two?” It was strange… For a single thought he forgot about the case and wished to remain simply because of a sharp need that flowed through him every time his eyes found their way to the artist’s.
Now, Mark did scowl. If the vampire was going to play at not recognizing him, he would do the same. He listened to what Kronos had to say for himself and looked to his assistant, who took the hint to leave them be and passed Mark going to the back of the shop.
“We, of course, are always open to helping the Invictus Police Department,” Mark offered cooly. He then amped up the icy nature as he added, “However, I must ask what we will receive in return for helping. We must, above all, keep the balance as a coven and spirit.”
“So,” Mark began as he took a step forward to put his hand on the counter between them. “What is your offer, vampire?”
