A little shout out from the Thai fandom this week please!
The YOI staff has surprised us all again this latest episode. The first picture is Phichit shaking hands with, you guess it, the Prime Minister of Thailand! Why on Earth the animators did that scene for us, I would never know. (For those interested, I suggest googling the current Thai political situation. It’s quite, ah, complicated so I’ll shut up before I get carted off thanks)
I have to mention, it’s tradition for the PM to greet the national sports competitors before or after big events, especially if they’ve won a medal. And Phichit has certainly made us proud. I didn’t have much hope for him winning GPF just based on his jumps arsenal, but his confidence and enthusiasm was just beautiful. //sobs
Moving on, the second picture is possibly Phichit making an appearance at the famous Thai talk show/news channel เรื่องเล่าเช้านี้ (literally “Morning Tales”). I would say it’s as famous here as The Late-Night Talk Show is to the US - there’s nobody who doesn’t watch it! They have a sports corner too, some fans were even joking about how Phichit would’ve made the show after Cup of China, had he been a real person. I’m just throwing that out there, in case anyone thought it was Phichit with his family.
Again, I have no idea how the animators found out about this. At this rate, Phichit and YOI may be making the (real) news again, I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
