DAY SEVEN: WATER
Kingdom Hearts (2002)
I fear I've been putting too much thought into the genocidal country, and not enough passion into Palestine. It is not enough to hate the oppressor, literally anyone can: it's about loving freedom and loving liberation. It's like when we say you have to love Black people more than you hate the cops, love indigenous people more than you hate America, and love Jewish people more than you hate nazis. The lives of the marginalized are so much more than the lives of the people that hate them, you feel?
Hippy-dippy, flower in the gun vibes intended, but you really must love more than you hate, it will change everything about your activism. And I think the biggest issue with the way that Certain Leftists (✋🏻) view activism and protests is that they base it totally on hate amd rage without realizing the deep love and care and community driven passion that our movements stem from. Black activists hate whiteness because we love Blackness so much, we love freedom, we love reparations, we love community; antizionists and decolonization activists hate colonization and Zionism because we love liberation, self-determination, and believe in, truly, a world where indigenous peoples are not enslaved and terrorized by white interests. Let your loves inform your hatred, don't just? Man, idek the words, don't hop onto shit because you think it's counter-culture, that's how you end up propping up Finkelstein and Shaun King.
The feds were more worried about the people that built up black, indigenous and Hispanic communities than giant orgs of white dudes that just hated cops. Like the counter culture of punk and it being fuck cops and fight nazi got next to no attention or worry compared to Malcom x or Fred Hampton, same as a country can hate America all it wants, if it can't be something more than that, and stand on its own and be successful it's 0 threat to this shit or imperialist. It's more important to build your community, feed them, cloth them, make sure people are housed state be dammed than to fight cops in the street rn. And when it comes to international shit, trust the people going through it know better than the people of the imperial core what helps, show your love and compassion by listening to them and the government will worry if it's days are numbered. Don't be a paternalist or chauvinist, and don't get adventuristic. May your love for the people guide and animate you to build.
!!! period!, the free breakfast program scared the fbi more than white ppl hating the cops
I WOULD PAY TEN TIMES AS MUCH FOR CHOCOLATE IF IT MEANT REDUCING THE AMOUNT OF SLAVES IN THE WORLD? HOW IS THIS ANY KIND OF PROBLEM.
good news, you can! the company’s called Tony’s Chocolonely and their entire purpose is to make slave-free chocolate and reform the chocolate industry.

Whole Foods carries it. If you don’t want to support an Amazon-owned company, World Market carries it. You can also buy it directly from the company.
It’s the best chocolate I’ve ever had and it’s 100% slave free. Tony’s Chocolonely works really hard to push for transparency within the chocolate industry and actually has and is following an action plan to eliminate slavery within cocoa production. They’re good people who make good chocolate.

This is super important! Slave child labor is used in many many cocoa farms from big name companies like Nestle and Dove. Here is a good link discussing it: http://www.foodispower.org/slavery-chocolate/ .
And here is an easy score card to see who the worst offenders are/who to avoid most: https://www.greenamerica.org/end-child-labor-cocoa/chocolate-scorecard
society really lost the war when dressing nice / slutty = “gay” “metrosexual” “is he 💅🏻”. we had decades of men wearing crop tops and short shorts without blinking an eye and now it’s ye ole pilgrim standards and talk of scandal if they show their knees
they were FASHIONISTAS!!! and we SHAMED them!!!
the fact that men used to be able to dress like that and no one said a thing but chris pine stepped outside in this and there’s dozens of articles about him & his reaction to the criticism?
stand UP kings. bring back the thighs and the tummies!!!!!!
I started with succulents like everyone else but tbh orchids are rapidly becoming my plant blorbos. Everyone takes care of them wrong and it's not your FAULT because the care instructions that come with them are!! Incorrect!!! If you do what they say then your orchid will die!!!! If you give them the right environment they're SO easy. They're such easy plants to grow. They have been UNFAIRLY SLANDERED by a MISINFORMATION campaign. They don't deserve this.
I am also firmly on the orchid bus
Love these pretty babies. It's not their fault they're misunderstood.
I'm grabbing your shoulders and looking deeply and homoerotically into your eyes. Listen to me. Listen. It Is Not Your Fault. They sell orchids in these shitty little plastic pots and fill them with water and stick them in heavier ceramic pots without ANY drainage holes. And then the fucking care sheet tells you to water these TROPICAL PLANTS with ICE CUBES. Of course they're going to die.
Orchids are a special type of plant called an epiphyte. You know those little air plants that are all the rage now?
I'm talking these babies. You can do cool things with them like this:
And this:
(link to the Etsy shop btw. These look cool. Though honestly you can probably find some art miniatures and do this yourself without much effort)
They don't have roots, so you can do whatever you want with them. You can put them in a globe or put them on a statue or just leave them on a table, they don't care. They're super low maintenance and easy to keep alive. All you have to do is dunk them in water once a week.
That's an orchid. An orchid is an air plant. In the wild, they grow on trees. Their roots are designed to anchor them to trees, not to dig into the soil. They NEED air. The moment they get waterlogged, which they will in those shitty little pots that you buy them in, they're going to rot, and eventually the whole plant will die. They can't have ANY sitting water. None. They need pots with drainage holes that are elevated so air can reach them from the top and bottom. This is what I mean by elevated btw:
Put something at the bottom of the pot that creates an air gap between it and the surface. Make sure it has gaps so air can flow through. Put a plate at the bottom to catch water when you water your orchid, every 2 weeks or whenever you remember. I have solved all your orchid woes.
And don't water them with fucking ice cubes. I'm going to find whoever invented the ice cube advice and fight them with my fists. These are tropical plants. They don't know what ice is. They're not evolved to deal with below freezing temperatures. If you water them with ice cubes you're just going to give your orchid frostbite, and it will die. No ice cubes.
ALSO if your orchid is in a pot, make sure you use orchid bark, not soil, as its potting medium. Though, honestly, you don't even need a pot. Like:
Look at them, just chilling. THIS is how they grow in the wild:
I think that's a different species of orchid than the phalaenopsis orchid we grow in cultivation, but the point still stands. That ^ is their natural habitat.
You can see the roots are just hanging out in the open. This is why air is so important to them. Air is more important than water. I'm like ?? 90% sure orchids can absorb ambient water through the air, but I'm not 100% sure so don't quote me on that. I did forget to water my orchids for 2 months once and they were fine, so. 🤷♀️ As long as they have enough air flow, they're more like succulents in terms of care. You water when you remember to, and just forget about them the rest of the time.
The creator of squid game spending years trying to get his point across that exploiting the poor and desperate for entertainment is bad watching netflix make a spin off of his fictional series where they in fact exploit the poor for entertainment
Letting you guys know they played red light green light for aprox 6 hours and they made these poor desperate people stay in place for 20 to 30 minutes at a time in freezing temperatures. Extremely evil
the thing about working as a housekeeper is that sometimes I will be called to clean a room that is in such a state that it gives me pause.
The thing about being a housekeeper at a Hospital is that it is not the things that would usually be concerning that leave me with questions.
Like if I go clean a room and it is just covered in blood, I'm not all "where did all this blood come from" that would be silly. It came from inside the patient and they were already in a hospital so they're probably mostly fine hopefully.
In fact "Inside the patient" is where most of the potentially concerning stuff I have to deal with comes from. Vomit? That's from inside the patient. Urine? Feces? Inside the patient baby. Needles full of unidentified drugs? That was supposed to go inside the patient but I guess they frogot.
But when I go to clean a hospital room and it is full of Sand... Did that come from inside the patient? I hope not. Why is there so much sand? Where did it come from? Was there some kind of terrible beach accident?
I have many questions and I'm scared of the answers.
this is such a delightful pair of tags

it is very childish and naive but i am still so shocked to see that so many people are just fucking outright mean
“FMA is bad because it portrays war criminals as sympathetic, likable people” bro that’s the point. That’s the whole point. That is THE point. Did you think Ethnic Cleanser is some kind of special category of person that gets separated away from all the Good People at birth? Did you think there’s some kind of barn full of Genocide Doers that only gets deployed into the general public during world wars? Did you think assholes who do terrible shit in real life are never charming or likable or capable of doing good things and helping people? One of the best parts of FMA is how we the audience realize that some of our core protags have made irredeemable choices, and we have to reckon with the fact that they’re still people, with the unalienable rights and qualities thereof. Sorry if the Problematics aren’t constantly wearing a dunce cap and a list of all their crimes and this makes the media incomprehensible to you

For a certain type of online leftist, "the Revolution" is essentially a secular rapture: the Revolution is going to happen, we know not the day or date, and we don't need to do anything to make the Revolution happen, certainly not real-life activism, just believe the right things before it happens and fixes everything.
Just like how evangelicals oppose doing anything to improve the Earth before the rapture comes, these types believe half-measures are pointless. "We DON'T need [change that would benefit many people right now], we NEED a REVOLUTION!" We don't need gradual change; all at once or not at all, and in fact, it's suspect if you are working on those smaller-scale changes. But since all these people do is tweet and do podcasts they're uh, not exactly forcing the end anytime soon
This ain’t just online leftists, and its why conservatives win so damn often, is they’re less opposed to half-measures, to minor victories, and they’re often more willing to dispense with “purity politics” or whatevs and accept candidates that aren’t their ideal but ultimately get their platform closer to its goal.
In many ways, it's even worse than that:
Many purists are of the mind that total revolution has to be triggered by adversity. It requires conditions so bad that vast swaths of the populace can't ignore it anymore. And in many ways that's true (think of how George Floyd's murder mainstreamed the phrase BLM).
That is why some were willing to let Trump get elected in 2016 (and again, unfortunately there was truth to that in how the loss of Roe galvanized voters in even red states).
Heap enough blood sacrifice upon the altar, and the rapture will trigger.
But the thing about many of them is that they are frequently the ones not directly impacted by adding pressure to the cooker. These are the same ones who are privileged enough to go "Well, just leave" to someone suffering deprivation.
There's an additional catch: when you get a purist revolution born out of such hostile conditions... you can't always trust that it will burn constructively... or that it won't target you next.
Day 7: Dreaming/Waking
We have talked about Sora's "kiss me once, kiss me twice, kiss me three times, cross the line" but pray tell WHEN are we going to talk about Riku's "kiss me once, kiss me twice, kiss me three times, please"
