The beginning of the end for every digital artist
i havent been having a great time really but i hope i get to do some stuff i enjoy doing soon
i think for this trans day of visibility, everyone should not just say the same vapid platitudes and instead give trans women money or if you cannot give trans women money actually read some transfeminist literature. actually everyone read transfeminist literature. yes including trans men. yes including trans women who have not read up on it yet
here are some that are in my opinion essential readings:
everyone talks about Whipping Girl and it is for good reason. i would consider it to be Transmisogyny 101. just the basics of how transmisogyny functions and how it impacts society. although it is written by a white trans woman thus lacks perspective on the experiences of trans women of color, so keep that in mind.
Hot Allostatic Load is also talked about a lot as a detailing of how trans women are ostracized from communities, which again i agree is a fair assessment of the work. it does describe this unfortunately very common occurrence well. the author details how trans women are pushed out of spaces and how this effects them through the lens as one who had that happen to her.
decolonizing trans/gender 101 is a critique on a specific publication (entitled Transgender 101: A simple guide to a complex issue) that claimed to be an "introduction" to transgender and detail the full history of it, but that it does discuss colonialism or race at all which is quite frankly, a very vital thing to discuss when describing trans history that this publication and many other writings fail to touch upon. it then goes on to make up for this by discussing colonialism and race in relation to the trans community.
this is all i can think of off the top of my head, i may be forgetting some. please feel free to suggest more
