Best lesson from a Disney movie
This is an underrated movie
This is a grossly underrated movie.
Can I take a minute to rant? Good. Cuz Iâm gonna.
I FLOVE this movie. And I HATE all the stupid hatred it gets. For a long time the buzz was âfinally a black princess yay!â and now everyone is like âFuck this movie, first black princess and she spends the whole movie a frog.â
You know what? Fuck that. Because Ariel spent a good majority of the movie not talking. Mulan spent the majority of the move pretending to be a man. Aurora and Snow White? Asleep (Hardly in the movie at all). Theyâre all just plot devices, not designed to take away from the traits of the women.Â
And you know what else? Unlike some of the other princesses, Tiana is in control of her destiny every step of the way. When she turns into the frog does she lose hope and need rescuing? Hell naw. She busts Naveen over the head and gets the job done. She is consistently responsible and capable even after having her dreams crushed and turning into a freaking frog.Â
So donât tell me that Tiana is âless thanâ just because she gets turned into a frog. Sheâs still one of the most hardworking, badass, and capable chicks in animated history and I love her like crazy cakes.Â
the end.Â
Also? Sheâs based on a real person. A real woman who is 91 and is still cooking in her kitchen. Sheâs still widely respected in the culinary community, sheâs fed presidents, sheâs had songs written about her and her restaurants. Sheâs 91, and she still wakes up every morning to run things, because she still believes in hard work and good food. And if you donât think thatâs truly fantastic, then you can just fuck right off.

the fuck kinda friendship is this..
The biggest moment about Pennyâs friendships I remember form The Proud Family is when Penny got famous for an episode and had fake entourage-friends around and Suga Mama admitted she considered Dijonay, Pennyâs old âbest friendâ to be âfaker than your fake-friends.â
Because really Pennyâs group of âfriendsâ really didnât seem to like each other all that much. Lacienega and Penny outright state how much they dislike each other often, like in these gifs, and only hang out because theyâre mutuals of Dijonay who will throw just about anybody overboard at a momentâs notice. Zoeyâs so much of a wallflower that sheâs usually pulled along by whoever argues most forcefully, and Sticky, when heâs around, is either running from Dijonayâs affections or desperately trying to inject sanity into a situation.
There were so many âPenny abandoned by her friendsâ episodes in this show that I really started wondering why Penny never got new friends. The show had so much other great stuff going for it but I did not like how it handled friendships.
Yesss this. The Proud Family really sucked at portraying female friendship. I just watched a ep where Penny wanted to go to this pool party but couldnât because she had to babysit BeBe and CeCe. You would think that at least her main girl Diyjone would stay with her but nope. They all laughed at her and dipped out. The show is so mean spirited about female friendship and I get the feeling that they probably had no women in the writers room.

I feel like this is a very important thread considering a lot of people cut Hollywood abusers a lot of slack just because âtheyâre work is very good and entertainingâ. There are plenty of other Hollywood actresses/actors that donât pull off gross shit like this, support them insteadâŠ. At the end of the day, we need to put the victims first and stop letting this shit slide.

In the twenty years before Albert Einstein died, he very rarely accepted invitations to speak at universities. In 1946, however, he accepted an invitation to Lincoln University in Pennsylvania which was the first school in America to grant college degrees to African American students.Â
During his speech, he spoke about his disgust at racism in America. He said that racism is âa disease of white peopleâ adding that he does ânot intent to be quiet about it.â And quiet he was not; throughout his life, he open spoke about racial injustice as well as antisemitism.Â
