A strong willed soul whose life leads her wherever help is needed, but whose role isn't meant to be the leading one. RP / Ask / Lore Blog Inbox is open!
So, considering how LD's work, would the world of Malificent (as opposed to Sleeping Beauty) be a paradox world? Also, I HAVE to ask how Mars would react to meeting THAT Malificent after meeting the KH/Sleeping Beauty version of her? (If you've not seen Malificent yet, do so. It's awesome.)
Maleficent is a wonderful movie which I appreciate VERY MUCH.
But, in terms of LD world lore, I’d say Maleficent would be definitely a paradox world. Not one of those in which everything goes to shit - like in Mars’ paradox universe - but a paradox nonetheless. It strays too far from the original to be an actual parallel world, and the ending is far too different from the original story as well.
HAH Mars would be head over hells for that Maleficent. Sleeping beauty / KH Maleficent looks like a sickly - yet beautiful - witch, M!Maleficent looks much more angelic. She’d have a lot of trouble adjusting to the reality that this Maleficent doesn’t want her turned into a little wriggling blob of darkness and instead just wants to protect her forest / help Aurora. But either way Mars is quick to trust people, so while she’d remain wary of her, she’d help her out and try to learn more about this world’s workings and Maleficent’s story.
I feel like some more information wouldn’t hurt, but I don’t want to spoil too much from the fic either - so, holla @ me if you think I should post the relationship Mars has with the FFVII cast.
Just wondering, the FF stuff takes place after KH right? If so, how does Mars feel about having to reforge her bonds with Cloud, Tifa, Yuffi, ect.?
FFVII takes place directly after KH, which means she has to deal with younger versions of the characters who have absolutely no idea who she is, while she knows them
IT’S... VERY DIFFICULT. I plan on writing things down at the best of my ability in the fic, but the process is long, messy and full of distrust on their part, considering they see her as a potential alien threat much like Jenova.
But she’s hella determined to help them out and try her best to recreate the friendship she has with the KH versions of those characters!
So, let me throw this in just to completely fuck up the canon; Did she encounter Sephi in the KH verse? If so, how much did she rage when she finds out she'll have to deal with him and his oversized sword again?
She absolutely did not meet Sephiroth in the KH verse, for three reasons
1) She would have wanted to fight him and, as a natural consequence, get impaled or worse
2) Mars & group never go to the Olympus Coliseum in KH1 and they don’t meet Sephiroth during the assault on Hollow Bastion in KH2, so again no chance of her meeting him. Her group keeps the heartless at bay elsewhere during the fight, and mostly helps Tifa and Yuffie fight off the heartless rather than Cloud and Leon, so her group is on a different area compared to Sora’s. (This is also because while her group helps the main group out, she’s never directly around them or takes the spotlight instead of them. She supports, not substitutes.)
3) It would fuck up the paradox FFVII storyline completely because then she’d know the bad guy, she’d be able to know what his weak points are and stuff like that. And while she’s powerful, she’s NOT that OP. I’m not giving her such an unfair advantage xD
Decided to post this one directly on tumblr for the sake of my own sanity. I’ll most likely post the others in sta.sh and link them here, but for now, this is all I have.
Chapter 1 – Unlucky Start
Just like the first time, the tingling feeling lasted for only a few seconds.
It felt like being submerged in water, blackened, silent water. She felt her fur cold, as if wet from a rainstorm. The tingling spread quickly, making her shiver slightly. It always felt weird to her.
With a crash, she fell.
Thankfully, the fall was a short one, but she still hit the ground with a low yelp. She forced herself on her knees, rubbing the back of her head with her left hand. She checked her palm to see if she had hurt herself, but there was no blood on her hand, and she felt lucky for that.
With the quick check up done, she looked around at her surroundings, and what she saw left her breathless.
A massive city built on top of a plate, and beneath the plate, a smaller town. She wasn't too far from the settlement, but not close enough to be seen by citizens either, which made her feel safer considering her current form. She could smell salt and smog in the air, and as she turned her head she saw the sea, stretching all the way to the horizon, reflecting the moon's gentle glow.
In that moment, she finally realized two things; it was night time, and it was raining heavily.
Something dark stretched from the city's upper plate towards the sky, horizontally, the moonlight shining and reflecting on its surface. She couldn't make out what she was, so she gave up trying to recognize the shape.
She had no idea where she was, and she was alone.
She felt a rush of anxiety at the realization. The first time she jumped, she had fallen on top of someone who would become her companion during her journey. She didn't have to search out for someone as the situation allowed her to just latch onto their presence and tag along, go on with her life as she followed them.
This time, she wasn't granted that luxury.
With no one to guide her or give her directions, she decided the smartest thing to do would be to enter town and look for a place to stay, but then she considered that she didn't have any money to sleep at an inn or something. Well, that sucked, she thought. With the town being crossed from her thoughts, at least for the time being, her best bet would be to find somewhere hidden and safe to spend the night; she wasn't afraid of the wilderness, and she knew she could take care of herself. What worried her the most was the temperature, a bit chilly for her taste.
She lifted herself from the ground, groaning at the dirt on her fur. She'd have had to clean that later. Her eyes being a bit stronger than a human's, she started wandering towards a rocky formation not too far from the lower town's entrance, hoping to find a cave, and to her own delight she quickly enough found one. The entrance was rather small, but the inside was large and comfortable enough for her to stand, stretch, and even lay down completely. She rushed inside, sighing in relief the moment she stopped feeling the storm's wrath on her fur. Much like a dog, she shook herself to dry her fur as much as possible, but she had to give up quite soon, her body way too drenched to be fully dried in a matter of seconds.
She tried casting a small fire spell, to dry herself a little better and to get some warmth inside, but to her own disappointment not a single flame formed in her palms. She scoffed, frustrated. Magic in this world must have worked differently, she guessed.
Shrugging to herself, she allowed herself to slip down on the ground, sitting as comfortably as she could and lying against the wall behind her back and tugged her knees as close as possible, her tail rolled up to cover her feet and chest. She sighed, trying to relax and stop her slight shivering.
Feeling alone was a new sensation for her, or better, it was an old one that she hoped she'd never feel again. She remembered the years she spent on that island, alone and away from everyone. She had really hoped she'd never find herself alone and forgotten by the world again, but there she was again. She had left her friends, seconding her stupid sensation and jumping into the unknown. Why did she even do that? She hadn't felt that tug at her heart for years, for all she knew she might have been wrong. Her 'instinct' might have been wrong.
Then again, the last time she followed her heart, her presence had been a great help to those she had met.
She always seemed to stumble on those who needed her help anyway.
Maybe that was all she needed to know.
She was too tired for this.
If she could fall asleep, she could have thought about her problems tomorrow.
A gentle sunlight welcomed her into the world, waking her from her light but much needed sleep. She rubbed the sleep away from her eyes and stretched, yawning loudly and widely, giving herself a small scratch under the chin to quiet an itch. She was glad to feel her fur had dried during the night, but she was sure she had caught a flu or something, as she sniffled a few times.
“Great. Just great.” she voiced, annoyed and with voice still raspy from sleep. “Ah well. Should have seen this one coming.”
She walked out of the cave to properly stretch her legs, which she did with a little bit of effort – sleeping with her knees like that really put a strain on her legs, muscles being a little bit cramped from the awkward position. Still, stretching did wonders to both her body and mood, and she soon felt a small smile form on her face. She was ready to tackle the day with newfound energy, and she knew already where to start.
For that, however, she needed a quick change of looks.
Fur disappeared, leaving only bare skin in its place. Her tail also disappeared, skin and bone retracting back into her body as if they were never there in the first place. Bones moved and joints shifted, giving her more human legs and smaller hands. She grew quite a bit as well.
She brushed a hand in her hair, trying to feel its shape. Shorter on the side, longer on top and with a small fringe. She ripped out a few hair to test its colour, and when she saw it was a nice hay-like hue, she was finally satisfied with her change.
It was the same human form she occasionally wore in the other world. If it was convincing back then, it would have been convincing now as well, she figured.
She was almost sure her pupils were half slit, but if she didn't get too close to people, her weirdness would have gone unnoticed.
Probably.
She sighed at her clothes, however. A bit small for her own taste, especially the pants. The sudden growth spurt really did a number on her, and what she felt most irritating was the lack of shoes. She would have had to walk in town barefoot.
Sighing at the situation but nonetheless willing to get a hold of her surroundings, her eyes moved to the town, now much easier to see thanks to the sunlight. The horizontal shape she had seen the night before seemed to be a weapon of sorts, a cannon most likely – the sight of it made her shiver slightly. Was that weapon the sign of a military settlement, or just a statement of power? She decided to shrug it off, no use worrying over it when she had nowhere else to go.
She made her way into town. The first thing that hit her was the smell, the saltiness of the sea giving way to the foul exhalations of smog and dirt. The town itself was small, with a handful of houses gathered around the main street and a smaller side one reaching out towards the rocky, dirty beach. An extremely polluted town that once had been a fishing spot, maybe? There were a few boats resting close to town, but they were in ruin and abandoned, forgotten. If the sea was as polluted as the air, and she could bet on it, it was no wonder that fishing was also abandoned, not a single fish could have survived in such environment.
She shrugged herself out of her thoughts, focusing on her objective. She approached an elder man sitting on a porch, he gave her a curious but suspicious look. He eyed at her, his stare lingering on her bare feet for a moment before it focused on her face.
“Excuse me for the intrusion,” she said, bashful. “but I have no idea where I am, or who I was. Could I ask you the name of this town?”
The elder fixed a pitiful look on her, and she faced elsewhere, embarrassed. She hoped he wouldn't see past her lie. “Sorry about your memory, lass. This here's lower Junon! Once a fisherman's paradise, now a junkyard. We don't have much, but it's home.”
She nodded, clearly feeling the sadness in the man's voice. She could feel sorry for the town too, outsider or not. “Thank you. Is there a place where I could get money? I've got nothing on me.”
“Memory-less and money-less?” he chuckled, waving his laugh away. “Sorry, sorry, that was rude of me. Here, this will at least fix you a meal.”
He handed her a few coins, which she accepted reluctantly. “50 gil should be enough to get you breakfast and lunch at the inn. Ask the innkeeper, she's been looking for help in the kitchen, maybe she'll give you the job.”
Mars nodded, thankful. She gave him a warm smile. “Thank you so much!”
“Take care now, will you? I hope your memory comes back.” he waved her goodbye as she moved away from his place. “And get yourself some shoes!”
Mars looked at the coins, so small yet so shiny in her hands. The money was called guil? Jil? Definitely different from the munny she was used to, but money was still money. She could get used to this different name.
Of course she had no intentions of settling in one place, if her instincts were correct there was a storm brewing on the horizon, and so far her instincts had never been wrong. She knew she'd have to find why her sensation brought her to this world. Maybe gathering intel would be a good start while also stalling for time, surviving day by day.
She could settle for a few days or weeks in Junon, she considered. It wasn't so bad.
Uncaring of where she was walking, she bumped into someone else, scrambling away from her stream of thought and apologizing to the person she had unwillingly touched. The man, she assumed, was taller than her and wearing a blue uniform, and he was carrying what seemed to be a rifle. The helmet sported three red lights on the visor; it looked goofy, but it was most likely efficient despite the looks.
She moved away from him, but another guard walked beside the first one and stopped her. She started feeling uneasiness creeping up on her.
“Miss, we would like you to come with us.” the first guard stated, in a tone of voice that didn't allow any contradictory reply.
“Why is that?” Mars asked, curiosity in her voice.
“Someone among the townsfolk noticed something... off.” the second guard answered, adjusting the rifle on his shoulder. “Mentions of someone's body shifting from a beast to a human. The description they gave fits your appearance.”
She swallowed hard.
“They must be mistaken then.” she chuckled, trying to trick the two by feigning confidence. She hoped shapeshifting wasn't a thing in this dimension. “Who ever heard of monsters changing into people? I sure as hell can't, I can't even remember who I am.”
“We insist.” the first guard pressed on, shutting her off. “You must come with us.”
Her anxiety was rising at an alarming rate. She could feel her breaths drawing in with more difficulty.
The second guard drew closer, staring at her hard before she faced another direction.
“She has the eyes. Take her.”
In the blink of an eye, the guards were on the ground, knocked down by a swift, round movement of her right leg. She went on her knees, recovering for a moment as she tried to steady her breath. She knew how to fight, she had had good teachers if not the best. She just had to clear her mind of worries and doubts, and let her fists do the rest.
She could do this.
The two guards struggled to get back on their feet, one of them reaching out for his rifle. She swiftly kicked it away before grabbing the other rifle and submerging it in dark filaments, breaking it in half. She tossed the pieces on the soldier, who scrambled away from her. The other, adamant about taking her down, charged at her but she side stepped and kicked him on his back, making him lose balance and fall again.
Two more guards arrived, guns ready, aiming at her. She couldn't dodge bullets, but she could shield herself from them.
A black mass formed in front of her as she rushed towards them, effectively blocking the bullets by engulfing and disintegrating them. Both guards were shocked and surprised, which allowed her to get a good hit on them and knock them out quickly.
She could do this.
A warm sensation on the back of her head, spreading quickly and dully, leaving her mind with nothing but noise.
She heard someone mutter “Why must I do all the work all the time?” before her hearing also went out.
How does Mars feel about being special little Lemur Dragon?
The thing is, she doesn’t know she’s special.
Mars, in her whole life, has only ever encountered another LemurDragon, which is Tidal. Tidal, much like Mars, has unique abilities because he as well has absorbed the paradox and made it his own, but at the same time is not like Mars because he doesn’t feel the urge to jump in different dimensions like she does.
Mars’ jumping is heavily influenced in this, because she can stay for years in the same dimension (see: five years in KH, three-five years in FFVII) before she feels a tug in her chest and she has to jump. She wants to ignore the feeling, but it gets stronger and stronger to the point that she’ll go crazy if she doesn’t. It’s like an itch, but instead of ignoring it to feel better, you have to scratch it otherwise it will get itchier and itchier to the point of making you want to rip your skin off.
What’s worse for her is that she doesn’t know why she has the tug. She asked Tidal, and he never felt it. She feels it, and it drives her to jump even when she doesn’t want to. She doesn’t want to jump! But she feels the need to. She has no idea why she feels it, but every few months / years she feels it again, and she has to leave all she knows for something new and unknown.
And she always ends up jumping in dimensions where the world / events are so fucked over that she wants to cry. She often gets the rough end of the deal, and if she doesn’t she has to witness her friends getting injured or hell, killed (rifp Aerith, you will be missed).
She knows she has special powers for some reason she doesn’t know - hell, she doesn’t even know about the paradox. She assumes every universe is like the one she lives in, considering that she can’t leave it and see if the others are different, and she thinks all other LemurDragons have special, unique abilities like Tidal and that she was just lucky enough to be born with more.
It’s actually Aerith that gives her the doubt that, maybe, her reason for jumping in different dimensions isn’t to see different worlds, but to help save those worlds. And by that time, she starts realizing that maybe, just maybe, she’s different. She’s “privileged” in a way.
And, in all honesty, she hates it.
She knew she wasn’t meant for the leading role after travelling with Lysander, but she never considered the possibility of having a role higher than sidekick. The knowledge sickens her, because it’s a responsibility she never asked for and doesn’t want.
But she still tries her hardest to fulfill her role, which is what breaks her the most when things don’t go the way she thinks they should.
Overall question: The worst monster/enemy she faced? How many times was she deafeted? By whom?
This is a difficult question to answer, because Mars never fights alone but is always accompanied by the group she’s tagging along with (which is Lysander and Tidal in KH, the FFVII cast on Gaia). She has gone solo only a few times, and they were when she left her main groups either on her own accord or because she was kicked out.
Definitely the worst enemy she had to face in KH was a Behemoth on her way to Lysander and Tidal’s location - she was going solo after pretty much ragequitting her main group (I will eventually explain why and when), and decided to catch up on them later on when she felt that something was definitely going to go wrong. The behemoth was a bit too much for her to handle, but eventually managed to come out of the battle victorious, albeit with some wounds and a massive headache due to overusing her magic.
As far as I’ve written the FFVII story instead, the worst she’s had to face so far was Jenova-BIRTH. The difference with the OG Jenova and Paradox!Jenova is that the paradox version is more aggressive, faster, and hits harder. So she was a much needed backup for the main team, and served as healer-supporter while Cloud, Tifa and Barret chipped away at the monster’s health. Jenova-BIRTH quickly noticed that she was a problem, and started concentrating hits on her rather than the other attackers - if the healer goes down, then the rest of the party goes down too. By the end of the fight she’s badly injured and needs Aerith’s healing magic to fix her, because her magic is completely out.
Additionally, and we go back to the time period after KH2 and before FFVII, Mars trains hard with Lysander and the two are on par in terms of fighting skills, so she moves to a different teacher who can help her fight without her fake keyblade (by this time Mars had decided to abandon her fake blade) - and she goes to Tifa for this, who after quite some begging is willing to help. And Tifa fuckin wrecks Mars over and over, for months before she starts getting better, stronger and fast enough to at least stand Tifa’s barrage of attacks for more than five seconds.
So, maybe, the strongest ‘enemy’ she had to face was Tifa.
For KH: What's her favourite and least favourite World?
Favorite world has to be Halloween Town - she’s quite squeamish when it comes to horror-like things, but the world is cartoony enough for her to make her fall in love with it! She loves how invested the citizens are, although she thinks their idea of taking over Christmas is absolutely terrible. She befriends Sally quite well thanks to their similar ideas.
Least favorite is definitely Wonderland. She loves all the weird things, but Wonderland is a drug trip, and she hates pretty much everything about that world. It’s a world that could have been thought up by a child, and she can’t work well with such strange things.
Call me crazy but I AM writing out Mars' story, the FFVII one now and maybe the KH as well in the future. Very slowly and very lightly but I enjoy doing it a lot.
Should I post the chapters as I write them? I know literally no one cares besides me but if you want me to post this Mary Sue's adventure, I will
For FF Universe: Has she ever had to explain she's a Lemur Dragon? Or is she trying to cover her origin and never brings that up?
Oh she wishes she didn’t have to come clean.
She was hoping to be able to travel with the others without ever mentioning that she was from another dimension or that she wasn’t human, but Red’s nose was too good for her and after three days of travelling with them (and three days of stubborn silence on her part instead of telling the truth right away) he ratted her out as alien, because she didn’t smell human.
To explain a little better, both Mars and Cloud are infused with mako, and while Cloud is carrying Jenova cells, he still smells human due to the cells morphing to resemble as human as possible. On Mars’ case, instead, there was no Jenova in her but her body is definitely not human, so even her smell isn’t the same as a human, despite disguising herself as one.
Additionally, around the time she was ratted out, the group still didn’t know that Cloud was carrying Jenova cells, so their assumptions weren’t based on the ‘Jenova smell’ but rather just the fact that she didn’t smell human despite looking like one, which raised distrust towards her motives and nature. Both smelled of mako, one of them smelled ‘normally’, the other didn’t. So of course there would be distrust, especially after three days of lies about loss of memory and weird behavior.
So in the end she had to come clean as an ‘alien’ being - she refused to use the term dimensional jumper and preferred to stick with ‘from another world’ - and the group didn’t take it well at all.
Red was understanding in a way, he could see why she wouldn’t want to reveal her secret.
Aerith was willing to have her in the group, since she as a Cetra was also not completely human.
Barret, Tifa and Cloud went ballistic and kicked her out of the group, Tifa and Barret being the most vocal about her tricking them into letting her travel with them, and Cloud instead being the more silent but determined in seeing her leave.
She eventually rejoins the group after some shenanigans but it was a really nerve wrecking period of time for her, since she was in a world she didn’t know and without anyone she knew to help her out.
Also, they are in Kalm when Red rats her out, so right after their escape from Midgar.
Can we ask for stuff from other Universes apart from the FF one?
Sure! The FF one is the one I’m developing most, but you can ask for ummm Kingdom Hearts, and technically also dragonball? She’ll eventually end up in there too.
She’ll eventually get thrown in FFXIII as well, and maybe Scaler!
Hey! Quick question: As a brawler, whats a fighting style/martial art you'd like to learn or get better at?
(Answering as the character)
Hi!! I never really thought about this, now that you mention it? I’ve considered learning Krav Maga, it’s soooo cool and effective! If I had time or a teacher, I’d definitely want to learn that one!
Maybe a good one would also be judo... definitely less aggressive than my current fighting style, which is all about aggression and overpowering. A more gentle approach to fighting wouldn’t be bad, I think!
Mars has two forms throughout her stay on Gaia – her LemurDragon form, and her human form.
While the LemurDragon form is rejected during the entirety of her stay, she does show it once to show the members of AVALANCHE that she's not infected with Jenova, something her eyes don't help in showing as the colour and the fact they can become slit would say otherwise. As a LemurDragon, she's shorter, has stronger and thicker arms and a long ringed tail. Her hair is of a brighter blond than when she's a human.
In her human form, Mars is taller and her hair take on a less bright tone, almost dirty blond. She sports short hair with the sides shaved. Clothing wise, she wears a tank top and leather gloves, military cargo pants and leather boots. She wears metallic armbands as accessories
Weapons and Powers
While she doesn't have a weapon of her own, she makes up for it with sheer force using her fists. She's not as strong as Tifa, but she can enhance her physical strength through the use of her dark-based element – which is not connected to Materia in the slightest. The power is almost similar to Nero The Sable's powers, but instead of manifesting darkness to absorb or create objects, she uses it to enhance her physical strength and agility.
Of all the Materia, she decides to master Fire and Time before everything else. Fire for its destructive power, Time to enhance her agility even further and be able to land more hits more quickly, giving her a hit-and-flee kind of fighting tactic.
Personality
Mars is strong willed and kindhearted, both qualities that make her adapt and be somewhat accepted by the party soon enough, despite their constant worry and paranoia about the whole “alien” thing, which she keeps hidden for as long as she's able.
She's fiercely supportive, but she's not truly upfront about showing it, preferring to instead give advice, nudge people in the right direction and sometimes through displays of physical affection.
She can, at times, act whiny and petulant, but she's mostly cheerful and goofy with those she cares about, acting like a drama queen to be made fun of and lift the morale by being overly dramatic.
Deep down, she's an anxious mess whose driving force is a veil of anger that never really goes away, and that permeates every aspect of her life. She's not angry at anything or anyone in particular, she just is – whether this is jealousy for not being a crucial piece in the puzzle, or it's the feeling of not truly belonging anywhere, she doesn't know.
She very rarely shows this side of hers, and would rather shut down completely than be a negative presence by talking about her problems.
Limit Breaks
First Level
Anger Rush – Default limit for Mars. Runs towards the enemy and punches them three to five times, dealing 3 times normal damage.
Lunar Uppercut - Use Anger Rush 8 times to unlock. Rushes below the enemy before uppercutting them with the right hand.
Second Level
Dark Strike – Kill 80 enemies. Covers arms in dark energy and punches the enemy multiple times, dealing four times normal damage.
Black Fury – Use Dark Strike 7 times. Releases a wave of dark energy that adds Haste and Fury statuses to the party. Raises Mars' attack and defense by 50%.
Third Level
Dimensional Blast – Kill 80 enemies after obtaining Dark Strike. Summons a single energy blast from the sky, which causes five times normal damage. Hits a single enemy.
Dragon's Rage – Use Dimensional Blast 6 times. Rushes in to attack random enemies 7 times, with kicks and punches, causing 3.5 damage.
Fourth Level (Final Limit)
Paradox's End – Use the Paradox's End manual after obtaining Mars' other six Limit Break commands. Mars transforms into Paradox!Mars, a form in which she gains Haste and Fury, and her Attack increases by 100%. The form itself hovers above the ground, which means she's immune to Quake. In this form, she has only two fighting commands:
Glitched Strike – Physically attacks for 2.5 times the normal damage to a single target.
Aberration Flare – Deals non-elemental damage equal to 5 times the basic magic damage. Hits all enemies.
Paradox’s End is, in writing, unlocked from the start and is used only during times of great distress and danger. She cannot control when the form takes over, but she has a degree of control over it, keeping her lucidity and awareness.
(The manual part is written to emulate what it would be like in-game.)
Mars is quite simply a LemurDragon, but she’s quite unique and different from normal LDs as well. Allow me to explain.
LemurDragons have a unique kind of magic in their body which is referred to as Adaptability by them. This magic is what allows them to adapt to various universes without suffering from the different laws of the dimensions they jump in, that allows them to use magic even though they have no training in magic skills, that allows them to pretty much do anything that is possible to do in whatever world they’re in, helping them fit in and survive better in worlds they don’t know.
For example, in the Marvel universe the way of a LemurDragon to adapt would be by developing a spontaneous superpower - but having to train to control it. The superpower would become inaccessible in other dimensions, but it would remain theirs for the whole stay in that world.
All these changes, however, are internal to the LemurDragon, and manifested in various ways, but all remain anatomical, psychological or power-based.
What makes Mars different then?
By Jumping into a Paradox Universe, Mars’ body has taken in the paradox and adapted to the new laws of that universe by making her a paradox as well. A Paradox Universe is akin to a contaminated, corrupted verse in a way, and by jumping in one, Mars’ Adaptability has corrupted her as well to allow her to survive better in the same corrupted environment. Much like a computer virus, the paradox spreads to everything it can touch, and Mars’ Adaptability has absorbed the virus, assimilated it and made it her own.
This has quite obviously caused some differences in Mars’ anatomy and magic, such as:
Slit pupils. Normal LemurDragons have round pupils at all times, but Mars’ turn slit like a cat’s when her mind is troubled or she feels guilty, sad or afraid. This is the most direct giveaway of her paradox nature. Her original eye colour, however, is ice blue.
Enhanced Adaptability. Normally, a LemurDragon’s Adaptability goes only so far to help them out. In Mars’ case, her Adaptability goes as far as outside of her body, allowing her to create weapons and change her appearance (although only slightly, see Paradox Adaptability) to better fit in and survive. A clear example is her ability to create a fake Keyblade to fight in the Kingdom Hearts dimension.
Paradox Adaptability: A special shifting that happens within a locked shapeshifted form, the paradox adaptability allows Mars to change her appearance slightly when in a certain form - this means it’s not an additional shapeshifting at all, but simply shifts parts of her body when in a certain form. For example, Mars can change colour and length of her hair when in human form, and in the FFVII dimension, for instance, she could potentially grow Jenova-based appendages or flesh wings, but she would remain in her locked shifted form.
Enhanced Shapeshifting. Mars’ body can memorize as many forms as she wants, far more than the ones she’d normally be allowed to have if she were a normal LemurDragon. This, however, came at the cost of her own feral form, as she cannot go back to her original feral form after entering the Paradox Universe.
Locked Shapeshifting. Because of the paradox, Mars’ shapeshifting abilities have been increased, but they are also locked to whatever dimension she’s in. This means that, if she were to shapeshift into a Frieza Race in the dragonball dimension, she wouldn’t be able to carry that form to different dimensions - something other LemurDragons instead could do without a problem.
Paradox Form. Extremely similar to a Heartless in the way it works, her Paradox Form corrupts her physique and turns her into a black mess of darkness and glitches, which is where she took the name from. In Paradox Form her physical strength is enhanced, at the cost of her awareness as only the basic instincts will remain. She works on a “protect, fight, survive” mentality when in this state, and will revert back when all threats have been extinguished or subdued. This form is caused by the paradox mixing with her dark-based powers when in times of danger.
