The Great Escape | Marposifer
Posey ignored Lucifer’s harsh response as she fled to the bathroom. Once curled up against the door, she practiced more of her breathing exercises to help calm her down, and after what felt like hours, but was really only about twenty minutes, it had worked. She heard Marshall and Luce exchange murmurs, but paid no attention to them as she attempted to ready herself to leave the bathroom. Looking in the mirror, she saw just how tired she was. Her hair was its usual, long unbrushed style, balancing between natural wave and knots galore. Her eyeliner was smudged from its usual thin line, probably a combination between her eyes watering at the mention of Kuzco and just a typical short-lasting product. She grabbed a sheet of paper towel to fix her eyes, and then after tossing it into the small waste bin, she silently reopened the door, exiting slowly. She made her way back to her seat, and grabbed the beer that she left untouched for the first hour of the plane ride. With a small twist of the cap, it was opened, and she took a small swig, scrunching up her nose at the temperature of the beverage. “Warm,” was all Posey mumbled, looking at Luce as she said it. one corner of her mouth twitched upwards into her pathetic excuse of an apologetic glance, as if to say ‘I’m sorry for mentioning her’. Standing up, she went to put the beer back into the fridge to re-cool, grabbing a new one to satisfy her thirst in the mean time.
Luce looked over the plans that Marshall had pulled up on his laptop, nodding to himself in approval of them. It wasn’t anything hard, it was actually quite a pathetic excuse of something to entertain them, but he knew why Marshall was doing this. Despite the fact that Marshall had spent an entire week at the school with he and Posey, Marshall still didn’t know what she was capable of yet, and wanted to make sure that she could keep up. And Luce would’ve spoken up for her, but knew better. There was no point in it, considering he would just receive hell over it for the next few months. Especially considering he was still receiving hell about one mistake that he made in a moment of weakness while he was still suffering through his withdrawals. At the harsh memory, he took the finally swig from his glass of scotch, walking back to the bar and depositing the glass. He had no wish to become drunk before they had even landed. Luce continued to discuss the plans with Marshall, and ignored Posey when she finally walked out of the bathroom. For the time being, he had nothing to say to her. But, as she went to get a new beer, he could see the apologetic look in her eyes, and gave her the smallest of nods. And that was all they really needed. The matter was settled, and it wouldn’t be brought up again. Once she had grabbed her new beer, he motioned for her to come join them in looking at the plans Marshall had assembled.
Marshall beamed at Posey when she finally walked out of the bathroom, not even missing a beat when she didn't acknowledge his presence. He was quite used to that, from her at least. He then flipped to the beginning of the document that he had created to explain to them what his idea for their first plan was, pointing a few more things out to Lucy before his friend motioned for the Bird to join them. "Bird! Glad to see you've taken care of everything that had gone askew," he commented with a grin, before turning slightly serious as he turned his attention to the laptop. "Okay, so the first one is barely even a challenge. I just want to see what the two of you are completely capable of," he started, scrolling past a few things before he came to rest on a page that contained a picture of a middle aged man, someone that you wouldn't have looked at twice if you passed him on the street. Marshall propped his elbow on the surface, pointing at the picture. "This man is one Mr. Gregory Owens. He owns a few random, unimportant, shops on one side of London, and is one of my father's former coworkers," he began, swallowing the small lump that had formed in his throat. "He stole quite a bit of money from my family when my Mum and Dad died, and I think we should get it back."
Marshall attempting to cheer Posey up
Marshall: “Hey, Bird, look here! [holds up camera]”
Posey: “Get that fucking thing out of my face.”
Marshall: “But Bird—”
Posey: “But nothing. Leave me alone, damnit.”
“Fuck. Completely useless talent I have. I play the…oh, God, Christ. Useless talent is…fuck. Okay, try the next one.”
The Great Escape | Marposifer
Posey immediately looked back to the window after she spoke, forbidding herself from looking at Marshall or Luce a moment longer. But she should have expected such a verbal response from Marshall. He instantly began to ramble off to her as she kept her focus on the clouds as he sat across from her. Posey’s jaw clenched as Marshall poked and proded about her business, holding back the evergrowing urge to slap him. Lucifer neared the pair, and for a moment she believed he was there to defend her, but he joined in with the Brit almost instantly. That was when her gaze slowly shifted over to Lucifer, an empty look in her big green eyes. “Because you and Dixie were so well-matched,” she hissed at the standing young man. “Or you and Rain, for that matter,” she added, knowing that would tick him off the most. Posey then stood up, almost a foot below Lucifer, as she looked at Marshall. “What the fuck is there to know? Is it just that god damn hard to believe that I’m likeable, you British prick? That someone with such an extravagent home and background could never even be seen with anyone of a lesser class?” Her volume slowly amplified, until it seemed as though she was yelling at him. “All you rich fucks are the same. You’re just all the same.” She turned to walk towards the bathroom, and stopped outside of the door. “He didn’t tell me when we met,” was all she explained to the two before disappearing into the bathroom, curling up against the closed door and performing more breathing exercises.
Luce saw her wide, empty eyes slowly meet his and almost knew what was coming before she said it. But, he was surprised by the last thing that she stabbed him with. He responded by clenching his jaw and breathing heavily through his nostrils, looking at her with pure fury. He was shifting through the dozens of things he could respond with, but kept his mouth shut while she finished yelling at them. “The same? The same?” He finally said, practically spitting the last word at her. “Because all the other rich fucks you know would come running to help you when you were about to be murdered. They would help you murder said person. Then they would bring in their other rich fuck friends to cover your skinny ass. Oh yes, all rich fucks are all the same, Posey,” he yelled at her as she walked away from them. He ignored her pathetic use of an explanation, turning on his heel and pacing infront of Marshall. His pace was heavy and quick in the small space, and he could feel his friend’s eyes upon him but didn’t comment on it as he normally would have. His thoughts were purely focused on Posey, and they were all tinged with red at the given moment. She certainly knew that she had hit a rather tense nerve by mentioning a specific person, and it would take a while to calm down from this.
Marshall watched the screaming match between the two, leaning back and listening attentively. He knew he could interject, but chose not to for one of the few times in his life. He observed Luce as he began to pace in front of him, staying still for a moment and thinking over the things the Bird had said. Of course, he wasn't going to take any of it personally. People said things to him like that more often than not, and he was actually at the point where he expected it. Finally, after hearing Luce try to step a hole in the floor, he pushed himself out of the chair and stood in Luce's path. "I remember when I first visited you at that school, and I had the unfortunately pleasure of meeting that Rain girl," he commented, his voice level. "What were you thinking, Lucy? She was absolutely wretched," he continued, feeling his face contorte at the memory of his interaction with her. After mulling over the memory for a few more tense-filled moments, he shrugged his shoulders and looked back at his friend, his good-humor returning to him. "No matter. She's gone now, and the two of you have me, as well as a starter project for us to set our minds to when we get back to the loft," he explained, a genuine smile coming across his face at the mention of what they were going to be doing for the next few years. He walked back over to where he had stored his laptop, and pulled everything, showing some of the early plans to his friend. "Looks good, doesn't it? Do you think the Bird will approve? We all have to agree, or it won't be done."
The Great Escape | Marposifer
As Posey waited for the jet to take off, the girl pulled her slim legs up and tucking her knees underneath her chin. She attempted to perform small breathing techniques that she had learned while at the facility; in through her mouth, out her nose, in a circular motion almost. Perhaps it would help her mood. However, after ten long, quiet breathes she still felt sick to her stomach for leaving him. Again. Eventually, after what felt like ages, she watched as the jet began to move foward, taking its time before finally lifting off of the Earth’s surface. The small girl leaned her forhead against the window, not wanting to leave, but knowing that she couldn’t stay. It was a hard truth for her to swallow, almost as hard as the reason to why they were running in the first place. It was all her fault, and she brought in Lucifer, who brought in Marshall. Now, what was originally her own problem with Axel, turned into a murder mystery, and she was the cause of all the destruction. As she sat there, she heard the rapid clicking sounds of Marshall’s fingers against his keyboard, along with the almost inaudible sounds of Lucifer drinking his scotch in the background. The beer he had gotten her had gone untouched, as her thirst was gone, along with apetite. Finally, at Marshall’s comment, her mouth opened, her eyes still glued to the view outsie her window. “Kuzco,” she said, her voice sounding lower than usual with an abnormal hoarse tone, as if it pained her to say his name. Posey then peeled her eyes off of the clouds and darted to Marshall menacingly. “His name,” she said, more at him than to him, “is Kuzco.” She didn’t bother using a last name, she would find him instantly and be informed as to why she was throwing such a fit. She didn’t care, though; she felt what used to be a very normal feeling for her. She felt numb.
Luce silently watched as Marshall busied himself with something, taking small sips of his scotch. At this point, he just wanted the plane to be in the air so that he would be that much closer to London, and away from all the shit that he had to deal with while in the states. He glanced over at Posey and couldn’t help but to frown, which caused him to take another sip of the scotch, at her position. With her head against the window, her knees tucked up under her chin, and the look on her face, he couldn’t help but to feel bad for her. He knew how much pain she was in, she was loosing someone who she cared for deeply. He had experienced that, despite the fact that he wouldn’t admit to it. His eyes flashed to the beer that he had retrieved for her and couldn’t help but to roll his eyes at the fact that she hadn’t even touched it. He could see the drops of sweat dripping down the side of the bottle, but his attention was redirected to Marshall when he stood in the middle of the now air-borne plane. He opened his mouth to give a rather colorful retort but stopped when he heard Posey speak, and couldn’t help but to wince at what she said. He looked over to his friend and met his wide-eyes.
Marshall knew exactly who this 'Kuzco' person was. Well, not personally, but he remembered his name from the list that he had been looking at only moments ago. "The Prince?" Marshall spat in disbelief. He immediately looked over to Luce, who responded with shaking his head, but Marshall couldn't hold in his thoughts -- not about something like this. He quickly walked over and took the seat that was closest to Posey's, swinging it around so that he was facing her. "No, no, no, Bird. Don't look back out at the bloody clouds after you drop a bomb like that one on me. You have to explain this. I have to understand this. None of it is rational -- and therefore I love it -- but I can't wrap my mind around this!" He rattled off, barely pausing to take a breath the entire time. He turned the chair so he could look at his friend, but Luce skillfully avoided eye contact by standing up to put the glass away. He then walked closer to the two, his hands in his pants pockets, "she doesn't have to explain it to you, Brit -- though I'd love to hear it, considering I never quite understood it myself," he explained, looking over at Posey with his eyebrows raised. Marshall could feel a grin slowly coming across his lips, and looked back at Posey. "Well?" He asked, eyebrows raised and a shadow of a smile on his lips.
[Chuckles] And where else would we smoke, Marshall?
I've got a crazy idea for you, mate. So just let it soak in. [Places his hand on Luce's shoulder, looking at him seriously] Take it out on the patio.
Blood hell Lucy. You and the bird have been stinking up the loft with those things since we arrived.
Marshall arriving at the airport in London
The Great Escape | Marposifer
Posey stared out the window as the black car made it way to the nearest airport hastily. She could feel Lucifer’s eyes on her, but made no snarky remark towards him, despite her natural insticts. Her earas perked up when Marshall began to speak, silently accepting the passport and credit card. She managed to pay attention without saying a word, or even making eye contact with either of them. With her only belongings resting on her lap, she crossed her arms over one another and sunk further into the leather seat. Before long, the car came to a hault and the trio had arrived at the airport. Posey got out, still mute, but this time making eye contact with both Lucifer and Marshall as she stepped out. Her gaze at Marshall was stone cold and hurt, offended by hiss careless attitude about the situation. However, when her eyes drifeted to Lucifer’s, they showed more pain that she normally allowed herself. It was a short and brisk walk to Marshall’s personal jet, where she took a window seat in the middle of it. The jet was lavish and expensive, but her eyes were glued to the window, waiting for takeoff.
Luce couldn’t help but to keep his eyes trained on Posey, still unable to come up with a solution that might help her. He accepted the things that Marshall tossed to him, looking over the passport carefully before flipping through the accounts, making sure everything was there. It was, of course. Marshall never made mistakes when it came to things like this. As the car came to a stop on the tar-mat, and Posey looked over at him, he finally realized that the only thing he could do was give her time. He met Marshall’s confused gaze, realizing that Posey probably gave Marshall a very different look than what she gave him, and rolled his eyes. He would have a lot of explaining to do when they landed and Posey was out of ear shot. Posey let herself out of the car, and Marshall quickly got out after her. The air, though it was spring, was still very brisk, and Luce responded by pulling his coat closer to his body as he quickly walked over to the jet. He was the last to walk in, and shrugged off his coat before tossing it on one of the main chairs they wouldn’t be utilizing. He then walked over to the built in bar, pouring himself a glass of scotch and grabbing one of the beers for Posey, placing it on the stationary table next to her. Finally, he took a seat on the opposite side of the plane, taking sips from his glass and ignoring an overly-chipper Marshall.
Marshall frowned at the look Posey shot at him, and was about to comment but kept his mouth shut after looking over at Lucy. After Posey slipped out of the car, he stopped and looked over at his friend, "you'll be explaining yourself at my earliest convenience." He then slid out behind Posey, walking a few paces behind the bird. Once he was inside, and he had made himself comfortable, he took a seat on the same side of the plane as Posey, but not too close. There was obviously something going on with her, though he was being kept in the dark on this fact, much to his displeasure. As Lucy made himself a drink, he pushed off the seat and walked over to grab one of his computers, taking it back to the seat. He made himself comfortable as the computer powered up, logging in once it was ready. The pilot then came in, and looked towards Marshall. "We're ready to take off, Mr. Ravensdale," he said stiffly. "Great to hear, captain. Get to it, would you?" He replied, his gaze focused on the computer screen. "Sir." The pilot said, trying to focus Marshall's attention. Marshall, after gaining access to Lucy's school's information system, looked up at the pilot. He moved his computer off his lap and stood up, looking down at the shorter man. "Something wrong?" He asked, though he obviously didn't want an answer. The captain sighed heavily, before turning and walking into the cockpit. Marshall just shook his head, taking his seat and refocusing on his computer. He quickly found information about each of the students, and began to make an education decision as to which one had been involved with the bird. He felt the plane begin to move, and soon enough they were in the sky. After several minutes, Marshall still hadn't figured it out, which made his joyous mood turn sour. Much more forcefully than he needed to, he shut his computer and got up to put it back in its rightful spot. He turned around, standing in the middle of the plane with his hands in his pockets. "Well, this bloody hell isn't what I was expecting from the two of you," he commented, his tone disappointed.
The Great Escape | Marposifer
One of the hardest thing she had ever done was walk away from him. To look her boyfriend and tell him that she had to leave him; Posey’s stomach caved in just at the sight of him. He was so excited, with planning their trip to his palace in Brazil and what not. And, of course, Posey had to come in and ruin his happiness. Her happiness. Their happiness. He had refused it, too, which only made things harder. But after a while, even he knew that her staying would only cause her to be thrown in jail, and there was nothing that even a prince could do. She left with tears streaming down her slender cheeks as she kissed him long and hard for the last time, not bothering to hide her dismay from him. She had planned for her last words to him be “”I love you”, but as she was exiting his doorway, the smalll girl turned around somewhat and looked down at his feet, unable to meet his gaze as she murmured, “I’m sorry.”
Her legs moved swiftly as she carried herself through the dorm hallways, making her way to the main school building. She and Lucifer agreed on meeting in a classroom that was empty for that period, and upon passing through the door she saw him there already, waiting for her. Posey said nothing, simply staring at him silently for a moment before he lead the way out. Her mouth was sealed shut, refusing to let any words out; not that it really mattered, though. Her mind was silenced, so that even if she wanted to speak she’d be at a loss. The two made their way out of the school, and she immediately saw what had to have been the getaway car. The door was opened for her quickly and she silently got in without protest.
Luce was leaning against a desk in one of the many empty classrooms, awaiting Posey’s arrival so they could all leave. Finally, he saw her appear in the door and immediately stood up straight and walked over to her. He knew better than to say anything and silently directed her to the front doors. He saw Marshall leaning against their car and gave him a pointed look that quite obviously said not to comment on Posey’s current state, but he wasn’t sure how long Brit would be able to keep his questions to himself. Luce opened the door for Posey, who numbly slide in. He sighed heavily, unsure of just how long she’d be in this state, considering he didn’t know how to deal with her when she was like this. After she was settled, he slid in next to her, but took a seat across from her and made himself comfortable as Marshall slid in, closing the door behind him.
Marshall, pretending to be oblivious to the obvious tension in the car, stretched out, propping his feet up on the seat next to Lucy. He laced his hands behind his head and settled in for the drive the the closest airport, where one of his jets was waiting to take them back to London. His eyes flickered to Lucy, who was giving him a death glare, and he simply grinned back at his friend, hitting him lightly with his foot. “Don’t give me that look, Lucyboy. If I haven’t died from one of those glares yet, I doubt it’s going to happen,” he commented as he pulled his phone out of his pocket and checked the weather for the flight back. He then remembered what he needed to give his friends, and sat up straight in his seat before he reached underneath it and pulled out a black briefcase. He put it in his lap and popped it open, taking a few things out. He tossed two things to each of his friends. “Those are your passports, as well as your licenses. Lucy, I’ve already…acquired your trust fund, and you have access to it from the accounts that I’ve given you. And, Bird,” he said, turning towards Posey. “I figured you’d like to have your own credit cards, so I’ve set you up with an American Express — black of course — which will be paid through off-shore accounts,” he explained before settling back down. “I hope that’s alright with the two of you.”
The Great Escape | Marposifer
Marshall was strolling out of the security room at Lucy's school, having just finished reformatting the system with the new footage. They would be good for the next twenty minutes, considering he had manipulated the film for that long, but if they stayed longer than that they would be caught on film.
He expertly navigated the halls, despite the fact he had only visited once, and made his way back out to the front of the school where the car was waiting for them, driver at the ready. Marshall nodded to him, letting him know that they would only be waiting for a few more moments. He had already set up the car in the woods, as well as the blood that was now seeping into the ground. He smirked to himself, remembering how he had acquired the blood of his two friends, but wasn't able to reminisce over the memory for long. His attention was drawn to the front doors of the school, which had just opened.
