Summary for The Week #MyMinimalistJourney #Day8-14
Oh ya, news flash:
I finished reading Everything That Remains, it was sooo good! Very inspiring. I cant wait to buy another Minimalism next month!
I join 44 Training Program by Leo Babauta. You can check on https://zenhabits.net/44-preliminary/ I am still in Practice 1. Long way to go.
I am so excited, me and my business partner Tata are planning a holiday to Hongkong on August!!
I am also busy preparing the Big Day and… still trying to think and act as minimalist as I can 😥 I have to buy so many things, because it’s Indonesian culture and tradition. So, I keep this in my mind > when I want to buy something I have to think it very carefully, will I use these things? Is it essential for my future?! Hahaha pusing!
My first plan on #MyMinimalistJourney “Clean-as-you-go” principle I did it most of the time! bring my own canvas bag, tumbler, done! Exercise every week, done!
The hardest one is not trying to check on my phone before sleep and when wake up in the morning.
Okay folks, thats all! Adios
Getting Rid of Necklaces #MyMinimalistJourney #Day7
Wow! It’s been a week! Day by day, I always feel I need to get rid of something 😂 #nopressure
So, on the left picture you see a lot accessories. Mostly the necklace is mine, but bracelets, and sun glasses is mama’s. I love necklace, especially the etnic one. I declutter from maybe 35 necklaces *I forgot the number* to 15, only 15…… it was so hard to choose, but I must! ( see on the right pict).
My suggestion: If you want to declutter accessories, remember your clothes’ colour or model. Then, choose the accessories that can fit in more than one cloth. It’s all about mix and match, right? Be creative!
So, just let’s see what will happen next. Could I get rid of more accessories next week or month? I hope so! Bye.
Exercises #MyMinimalistJourney #Day6
Hello Running Shoes, We Meet Again!
4th July.
I’ve never been into running or jogging. I am so proud of my self because I only have a pair of running shoes #MinimalistAsItsBest. In my opinion running is the easiest and cheapest (if you dont buy new shoes every month) way to get healthy body. Honestly, I am not really a running person, but I still enjoy doing it in my spare time. I should say jogging, perhaps? Because I was running very slow. Hahaha (must check the differences on dictionary)
During a holy month of ramadhan, I skipped jogging and swimming! So, on Tuesday evening, after a long break, I was jogging for 30 minutes, start small, hehe.
Actually, that wasnt my new routines. Regularly, hmm once or twice a week, I do some exercises, either jogging, push up, plank, yoga or swimming (oh I love swimming!).
I read on theminimalist.com about 18minutes exercise, I think you should check it out on http://www.theminimalists.com/18min/
Joshua said he only does exercises he enjoys. Why 18 minutes? He discovered that almost every time he hits the park for his exercises, he was worn out within eighteen minutes. Thus, these are his eighteen-minute exercises. So, I think it will better if we doing it regularly for certain minutes, and star small or simple exercise. As simple as push up, squat, or anything you like.
So, good luck for me and for you too! I hope I can make some progress for my dream body - Wonder Women’s Body 😂
Getting Rid of Many Stuff at Office. #MyMinimalistJourney #Day5
Hi! 3rd July was the first day back at work after a looooong holiday! Huft. I need more!
My officemates decided to cleanup our small office on the first day because we had planned it for so long but it never happened!
Surprisingly, for the small office like ours (only 5 persons in a small room) we had sooooo many stuff! Mostly papers. It took around 4 or 5 hours to clean up the mess! (It’s only 4 of us now, one of our officemates just resigned) :(
Okay, now let’s see the picts! If you see on : Top-left pict : Before. Top-right : After. We also redecorated the desk position to get a new look!
Bottom-left pict is the final look, taken from the inside. Bottom-right is my desk! Can you spot the sentence on my pouch? Less is The New More! Hihihi..FYI, I didn’t BUY that pouch, I get it for FREE! Hehehe #MinimalistAsItsBest
The Feeling When You Lost Some Thing #MyMinimalistJourney #Day4
I did it againnnnnnn! I lost some thing importannnnntttt.. not my cellphone. Guess what? Retainer. The thing that you wear after using braces for a zillion yearssss! This is the second timeeeeee I lost it! You know that's not cheappppp!!!! I am really upset!!!! I used to wear that every night before go to sleep. I exactly put that thing in the usual place. I REMEMBER IT. It is a pair, but I only lost one part, but still make me upset! ----- Yap, I wrote that right away when I knew I might lost some thing. I feel so upset! And I was thinking what if what if! What if I didnt have much stuff, what if I didnt have to depend on material possession. Maybe I didnt have to feel so upset like that :( This minimalist journey not only control my consumption habits but also give me the new perspective about how I see things. I always put this question in my head whenever I see my stuff or want to buy some thing "Does this thing still add value to my life or bring me joy?" And it worked! So far, I haven't had compulsive buying, and I am so proud of myself! Okay, thats all for now! Psssttt.. Long story short. That retainer is finally found! Hahaha.
To Do List #MyMinimalistJourney #Day3
New routine 1. Clean-As-You-Go Principle (inspired by Leo Babauta- Zen Habits) . Washing dishes after eating (instead of leaving them in the sink) . Check e-mails, quick reply or put ones that require longer tasks in folder or to do list tasks 2. Bring own lunch/snacks to office . Prefer home cooked lunch . Or cooking at office (but not instants noodles) . Choose healthy snacks : oatmeal, avocado, tea, bread. 3. Bring tumbler whenever I go (meeting or hanging out with friends) 4. Bring reusable bag (no more plastic bag). To Be Done 1. Donate college books and novels to Cikini library 2. Sort and Donate clothes, bags, shoes to Street Store 3. Give all papers from college or old magazines to junkman To Be Healthier 1. Jogging 2x/week 2. Detox Instagram 2x/month Buying Habits 1. Take note of daily expenses 2. Choose Body Shop or any beauty products that has recycle programme 3. Buy e-book instead of physical book 4. No more get printed receipt from ATM or saving it on wallet 5. Bring extra reusable bag (whenever I go) 6. Choose a glass instead of plastic cup in coffee shop (or bring own tumbler. Should I bring my own straw?)
Clean Out My Closet #MyMinimalistJourney #Day2 This one is the easiest thing to do! It didnt take much time to choose my favorites. But I still have more bags, shoes, books, magazines and papers that need to be cleaned out soon 😥
Baby Steps #MyMinimalistJourney #Day1
WHITE SHOES I haven’t bought new shoes since last ramadhan. Almost a year! Proud of me! White shoes become my favorite shoes so far, oh wait Wakai is the most favorite shoes.. fyi, I wore this white shoes everyday since last year.. Since I dont have many options, so I wore this one almost every weekdays to office and weekends to the mall (but not everyweekend i went to the mall hehe).
REDUCE PLASTIC BAGS I am still trying to reduce plastic bag. It was soooo hard. Sometimes i forgot to bring reusable bag to minimarket! I will keep in my mind : Bring my own bag when go shopping! No more plastics! (Fyi, plastic is for free again in Indonesia, too bad!)
BYE BYE ACCESSORIES I will stop buying accessories. I have plenty of necklaces and earrings. I love necklace especially. I used to ask my bf whenever he had business trip outside Jakarta to buy me some traditional necklace hehe. One day, he brought me a weird necklace, too etnic. I looked like a tribe leader when I wore that hahaha So, from now I will only wear my collections. About earrings, I have so many! But I was to lazy to wear it, so enough buying the new one .
CLOTHES? NO NEED About clothes. I have to admit. I dont have many. But my mother had more clothes. I always end up searching what to wear at her wardrobe (I am still living with my parent). So it is pretty hard to choose, are those clothes was mine or hers? Never mind, I just wear what I see first. its just about a time that her clothes being mine and stuck at my wardrobe; because we have same size! ahaha so If I have to stop buying clothes, no probs. Thanks to my mom, oh and my sister too. But, if I live alone someday, I must find a solution! Hmm..
LESS CONSUMPTION I will make a list “things i buy” every month. Just to remind me “i will be okay without buying more things” and make a progress to become a true minimalist! I read about minimalist in early 2017. I kept reading theminimalist.com blog and hearing their podcast! What an inspiring! I hope, in my new age, 27 years old I can be a more responsible and smart buyer, an environmentalist, happy and passionate person!
WHAT A BOOK Currently, I read a book ‘Everything That Remains’ by Joshua and Ryan from Theminimalist.com. This ‘why’ book is really inspiring, I cant wait to finish and start living minimalist. I will give updates and progress about my minimalist journey :)
