we were sitting on the ring of saturn, seeing each planet revolving along with their moons, their satellites, orbiting the sun.
i asked him, “has the earth ever told the moon to stay?” he digested my question. “i dont think it needs the moon as bad as it needs the sun.” he listened carefully. i continued, “doesnt the moon get tired orbiting something that neglects it? why does it bother rolling around it all the time?”
“hey,” he poked me, “you have to see everything in a bigger picture,” he said. i clenched my fingers and held my tongue. “look at this universe. dont you think it’s a bit lonely to revolve all alone?” i said in hesitant, “well.. seeing how vast the space is, solitude is definitely a thing.” “maybe the planet did ask their moon to make a company, maybe they didn’t. actually, they gravitate along each other, making their company in this unbelievably vast space. and look how beautiful they are!” i nodded slightly, agreed.
he held my shoulder and continued, “look at me! look at us! you never beg me to stay and neither did i, but we’re almost inseparateable.” “sorry,” i said. “for what?” “it seems like i only call you when i’m upset.” he tapped my arm slowly and smiled, “you know, i like it, orbiting around you.”
