Hi! I'm in love with your art! I'm an artist too and I'm starting out digital art and I'm curious if you have any tips on line art?? I really like your style, the main problem I'm struggling with is the thickness of the lines. Yours are both smooth and have a sort of depth to them that really make the piece! Please share your wisdom 😂 <33

So first off, this is just what I find works best for me! It won’t work for everyone. Find whats most natural/comfortable for you! But that being said, Heres How I Art. 

I personally prefer textured brushes to smooth ones because they add a bit of personality to the line and are more forgiving. Experiment around with brushes until you find one that suits your needs! The number of options is overwhelming to me, so I usually use one exclusively for sketching/lineart and one exclusively for coloring.

I like to use quick confident strokes instead of small short ones. The energy of your piece will be influenced by the confidence of your lines. I used to be very nervous about putting down lineart, but don’t forget you can easily undo or erase mistakes. Use pressure sensitivity to make small & thin lines instead of changing the size of the pen too much. Perhaps do warm-ups before starting so you get used to the range your brush has to offer and loosen up your grip!

Since I work mostly with flats these days, I prefer to shade in my lineart! So I’ll block in the black to make the piece look less flat, and then I’ll color in the lineart if I want to soften parts of the image.
