Loki series masterpost called “let’s debunk this” or alternatively “jfc can you stop twisting the words of everyone who worked on the show for 5 seconds!?”:
I spent years waiting for this show to come out, collected every bit and piece of info regarding this project there was, practically inhaled every (source! not clickbait or just skimmed over the headline) interview the creators and the cast involved gave about this show and I’m so sick and tired of people twisting their words to fit their narrative and create issues where there are none.
So hopefully, HOPEFULLY this post clears up at least some of the most popular “NoBoDy KnEw WhAt ThEy WeRe DoInG! eVeRyOnE tElLs Us A dIfFeReNt ThInG!” ‘takes’

Thank god at least one person on this hellsite has critical thinking skills. Can't tell you how sick I am of 'stans' blindly regurgitating fake news and weaponising it. But I guess fact checking falls outside of the 2 minute attention span of most pearl-clutchers these days.

For you my friend, anything! Apologies this really has no plot, rhyme, reason or even a proper ending haha, but here you go!

‘’Okay, JARVIS, give me a full-scale view with all anomalies highlighted.’’
The air around Tony turned an eerie blue as a hologram flared to life.
‘’All anomalies highlighted.’’
Tony narrowed his eyes thoughtfully, ignoring a distant, curious beep from Dum-E.
‘’Can we reconfigure?’’
‘’It’s a possibility, sir, but it will be undoubtedly time consuming.’’
Tony clicked his fingers, quirking his mouth as he turned in a slow circle. Dum-E approached then, whirring quietly, coming up close and extending his arm to peer into Tony’s face
Tony batted the bot away, not looking away from the hologram.
‘’I suppose we could recalibrate the whole thing, much as I’d hate to, but the suggestions Pete had were good, and I think they’re worth considering in the prototype…Screw it, run recalibration schemat – Dum-E, see that blender? It’s gonna go bye bye out the window soon if you don’t stop trying to knock me over.’’
The bot, who had been steadily ramming the lower part of his body against Tony’s leg, screeched indignantly and tilted his arm back in panic.
‘’Don’t look at me like that,’’ Tony scolded, stepping round him. ‘’You know the rules. No manhandling in the lab – ‘’
He was cut off as Dum-E’s claw knocked into his chest with another chirp.
‘’Why are you acting like this, huh?’’ Tony tapped his knuckles against Dum-E’s camera. ‘’Have you been sticking things in plug sockets again? Fried a few circuits?’’
Dum-E trilled shrilly and bopped him again, only this time he hooked his pincers into the sleeve of Tony’s shirt and tugged with a surprising amount of force.
‘’Hey! This is a complete violation of our creator creation relationship!’’ Tony protested, trying to twist out of Dum-E’s hold but only succeeding in allowing himself to be dragged awkwardly and rather speedily across the lab. ‘’Oh god, you’ve been listening to the kid talk about movies again, haven’t you? You listen good, junior, I am not watching that damn Terminator travesty with you ever again, not after last – oh.’’
Dum-E had stopped them a short distance away from the worn but undeniably comfy couch that was tucked in the corner. Sprawled on it was Peter, flat on his back with his arms above his head, head turned to the side and mouth open in a gentle snore. The table in front of the couch was covered in various sheets of paper decorated with numerous scribbles of formula, and the scattered remains of a web shooter prototype lay in a small pile.
Tony scratched the back of his head and sighed, checking his watch with a wince. It was late. Real late.
‘’You want me to make sure he goes to bed, don’t you,’’ Tony asked Dum-E, giving the bot a fond look.
Dum-E bobbed his arm up and down.
‘’You want me to go to bed as well, don’t you.’’
Dum-E beeped and moved towards Peter, reaching down to trail his claw through Peter’s ruffled hair with surprising tenderness.
‘’JARVIS?’’
‘’Sir?’’
‘’When did Captain Calamity over there become such a mother hen?’’
‘’If you recall, sir, Dum-E is a learning bot. I believe his behaviour is a clumsy but rather uncanny projection of what he has observed in your interactions with Master Peter.’’
Tony turned a playful glare up to the ceiling. ‘’That sounds like sentiment, J.’’
‘’A most dreadful development indeed, sir. However, that does not mean that Dum-E is incorrect. Rest would benefit you both greatly.’’
‘’Conspiracy,’’ Tony said, pointing between the ceiling and Dum-E. ‘’That’s what this is.’’
Dum-E beeped at him softly, giving Peter’s head one last pat before coming over to prod Tony in the shoulder.
‘’Alright, alright, you pain in the ass,’’ Tony chuckled, rubbing Dum-E on the arm, tapping his fingers in a loose melody that made Dum-E trill happily. ‘’Remind me to get out the good oil for your joints tomorrow.’’
With one last pat, Tony left Dum-E’s side and moved towards the couch, kneeling in front of it so his face was close to Peter’s.
‘’Hey, kiddo. Anybody home?’’
Peter stirred immediately, mouth shutting with a funny slur. His eyes remained shut. ‘’S’time?’’
‘’Late, bud. What say we take this party on up to where there’s more pillows and blankets?’’
‘’Mmm,’’ Peter grumbled, turning on his side and reaching out a hand to fumble against Tony’s shirt. ‘’Comfy.’’
Tony snorted. ‘’You’ll be comfier upstairs, kid. C’mon, up and at ‘em.’’
Peter merely groaned and turned his face into the couch cushion.
Tony regarded him for a moment, feeling something overwhelmingly warm and pleasant in his chest. He stood up and with no warning, reached down and scooped Peter up, hoisting the dozily protesting teenager over his shoulder.
‘’Oh m’god,’’ Peter complained, smacking Tony’s back gently. ‘’S’lamest thing you’ve ever done.’’
‘’How can someone who eats so damn much weigh so little?’’ Tony retorted as he headed for the elevator.
‘’Spider,’’ Peter yawned, flopping limply, arms and legs dangling. ‘’You’re gonna hurt your back.’’
The kid was probably right. There was a dull twinge in his lower muscles, but it wasn’t anything that Tony felt particularly bothered about.
‘’Want me to put you down?’’
‘’…No,’’ Peter grumbled.
‘’Didn’t think so.’’
Tony and Peter + Introducing WEB (Worldwide Engineering Brigade) to the world
‘Now, you must be thinking: can’t Tony Stark just give all recruits a suit of armor or something? Why is he getting a bunch of science students and amateur inventors to make stuff? But, actually, it was Mr. Stark himself who said that he wanted to help up-and-coming inventors…See what we can come up with that maybe he hasn’t thought of. He’s even given us our own building/workshop to do that! Plus, he’s gotten people like Pym Technologies and the Wakandan Design Group to donate a lot of their old tech to WEB to see what we can reverse-engineer from it.‘
Thanks to none other than Tony Stark, a new scientific research station for teenage heroes has just been completed – and Spider-Man just got an invitation to join!

Bonus:
After some thinking, a conversation with my sister-in-law with a psych degree, and a couple of sessions with my godsend of a therapist, I think I've finally put my finger on the thing about Mobius that Loki (and a lot of the fandom tbh) so quickly latched onto like a man dying of thirst at the first sign of water:
Unconditional positive regard.
This concept is at the core of client-centered psychology and basically is a stance that a therapist will take in relation to their client, where they simply accept and support their client as a person, regardless of what they do or say.
My therapist uses this framework with me, and when the Loki series came out, I immediately saw Mobius and was like "holy crap, this man has the exact same energy as Sami what???" And I couldn't for the life of me figure out why until I was talking about it with my sister-in-law and she mentioned unconditional positive regard. And then it clicked.
Mobius radiates unconditional positive regard from the minute he meets Loki in episode 1, and arguably even from the first time we even see him onscreen. He approaches everyone he interacts with using a basic framework of "I see you and care about you as a person, and nothing you do or say can change that," so we immediately get the impression that this man is soft, kind, and shaped like a friend. However, it's most obvious and pointed in his interactions with Loki.
While yes, Mobius' primary objective in episode 1 is to interrogate Loki, it's important to note that it's not an interrogation where Mobius is trying to find proof of guilt for a crime like we'd see in a typical detective procedural. Rather, Mobius is trying to see if this variant of Loki is self aware enough to be able to help him in his hunt for Sylvie. It's fundamentally a test to find out Loki's current place in his emotional and psychological development. It is not maliciously intended, and it is not designed to harm Loki. On the contrary, the intent is clearly to help Loki begin to come to terms with the reality of who he is and the choices he has made.
In fact, the whole time this is happening, Mobius very purposefully strives to foster an environment where Loki knows that A.) Mobius sees him. Truly sees and knows him. B.) Despite knowing what Loki is and what he's done, Mobius loves him and regards him positively, and C.) nothing Loki can do or say will change that positive regard.
Loki, however, is super not used to receiving unconditional positive regard. He has no idea how to respond to it. He feels like it's a trick, like there's another shoe just waiting to drop. I related to him hardcore in this scene because that's exactly how I felt when my therapist presented me with unconditional positive regard for the first time. It's confusing and strange and difficult to believe at first. Especially because it sets the stage for honest self reflection and personal growth that can be incredibly painful.
Loki is not a perfectly innocent person. He has done a lot of really bad things and hurt a lot of people in his life. He has a lot of very deep seated trauma that has informed these actions, but he still made those choices and he needs to take responsibility for them. This is not a fun process. Mobius knows this is actually a really awful, sucky process. But he also knows that change and growth requires two things: acknowledgement that a change needs to be made and the expectation that change can and will occur when properly cultivated. Mobius clearly laying out the reality of Loki's actions and who he is in the Sacred Timeline is the first part of that equation, and his unflappable, unconditional positive regard towards Loki as a person despite knowing that reality cultivates an environment for the second part to flourish.
"By definition, it is essential in any helping relationship to have an anticipation for change. In the counseling relationship, that anticipation presents as Hope—an optimism that something good and positive will develop to bring about constructive change in the client's personality. Thus, unconditional positive regard means that the therapist has and shows overall acceptance of the client by setting aside their own personal opinions and biases. The main factor in unconditional positive regard is the ability to isolate behaviors from the person who displays them." (source)
Mobius is not Loki's therapist, but he does take on a therapeutic role in Loki's life. He shows Loki that he is fully aware of all of Loki's faults and mistakes. He's seen them over and over again and knows them by heart because it's his job. And in the face of all of that he looks at Loki and says that he doesn't see him as a villain. That he likes him anyway and believes that Loki has the potential to help him and what he believes is the cause of good. (Yes the TVA is corrupt, but neither of them know that at this point, and the fact that both Mobius and Loki believe this to be the side of good to varying degrees is important here)
Mobius maintains this regard throughout the series and his subsequent interactions with Loki and when talking about Loki to Ravonna and others, and it's a big part of why Loki so quickly trusts and feels comfortable around Mobius. I know some people say it's unrealistic how fast it was, but it made a lot of sense just based on my experience. I mean, after one (1) session with my therapist, I was 100% ride or die for him, and it was kind of absurd. But the feeling of being seen like that is so potent when you're starved for it, that extreme reactions to it make a lot of sense. And if anyone's starved for unconditional positive regard, it's Loki.
Mobius is only human though, and he's not perfect at this. Over the course of the series, it's clear that Mobius has emotionally invested a lot in his Loki, and he struggles to maintain a professional distance, though he usually is able to keep his head enough to give Loki that positive regard he needs. The only time we see this regard slip is in episode 4 when Mobius is feeling betrayed and jealous. In these moments, Mobius is unable to step back from his feelings enough to get into a headspace where he can separate Loki's actions from who he is. He calls Loki an asshole and a bad friend, and it comes from a place of hurt and jealousy. It's also what drives Loki into a defensive mode we haven't seen since episode 1. He's no longer receiving that unconditional positive regard from Mobius and he feels betrayed. He worries that maybe it was all an act in the first place and Mobius never really cared for him at all. For the first time, Loki feels like Mobius doesn't see the best in him anymore and it hurts.
Mobius' unconditional positive regard was genuine, though, and this is reinforced in the subsequent scenes where we see him act on his instinctual desire to assume the best of Loki and investigate his claims. We see it again when he returns to Loki and he reaffirms both his desire to trust Loki and his belief that Loki can be "whoever, whatever he wants to be, even someone good." At this point, Loki is able to accept it and no longer pushes back against Mobius' belief in Loki's goodness and that he "has within himself vast resources for self-understanding, for altering his self-concept, attitudes, and self-directed behavior." He's grown and begun to see himself in a more realistic and positive light and it's a direct result of the time Mobius has spent cultivating that relationship based on unconditional positive regard.
That's why their relationship feels so comfortable and satisfying. Unconditional positive regard isn't only a therapy principle. It's something everyone craves in a relationship. To be seen as you are, flaws and mistakes and quirks and all is terrifying and mortifying, but when that person then just smiles and says I love you anyway because you are not your mistakes and you are not your flaws and nothing you can ever do or say can change how I feel about you, the relief and joy and comfort is more than worth the discomfort. So I think the idea that Mobius can look at someone as deeply flawed, broken, and jaded as Loki and love him exactly as he is right there and then, eyes wide open and smiling, believing that beneath it all Loki has the potential to be good, gives us hope that someone could do the same for us. I know that's what Lokius does for me, at least. Mobius represents to me the ideal of unconditional positive regard, and having an image of what that looks like in the character of Mobius gives us the opportunity to apply it to ourselves when we may not get it elsewhere in our lives. And I, for one, think that's very sexy of him.
This post hit the nail directly on the head and reaffirms my opinion that all these antis wailing about how 'mobius is abusive towards loki' have no fucking clue what they're talking about
Luke Wilson: (…) it was funny for me to be working for DC and doing a superhero show and then Owen was playing this character Mobius on Loki. I know that he really enjoyed working on [Loki]. Like me, he had not worked on a superhero project and had not worked on a show before, but I know he had a great time and really enjoyed working with Tom Hiddleston. It seems like that show turned out great too. [x]
FYI-In no way am I calling out all shippers who ship the ships I will mention-just the militant ones who invade tags and harass people for not shipping their ship or who harass people for saying it’s not canon.
I’m getting really tired of all the stupid ship wars over the Loki show. I don’t care if you ship whatever you want but stop invading other peoples tags just to belittle what they ship . I can’t even filter them out because some you guys are invading the mainstream tags without even tagging it as ships. And just because your ship is the most popular doesn’t give you the right to harass people and to try to force them to say it’s canon. Newsflash-none of these ships are canon. Will they be? Possibly-though I don’t think so-especially since the head writer has already said that the most popular ship won’t be although it’s true that he could be lying. They are all controversial in some way-even though a queer relationship shouldn’t be; at least not for being queer. But guess what guys-not everybody sees chemistry of a romantic type among all these characters and I really wish some you all would stop acting like everyone is supposed to feel the way about it that you do.
Yeah some people ship some controversial and sometimes distasteful stuff-like self-love, incest and other weird shit has been available in many fandoms for some time. And no it doesn’t automatically mean people do it in real life. It’s also a pretty small corner of fandom-you’re literally giving it attention by even talking about it so much. You don’t have to like it but you do need to accept that it exists. I guarantee you there’s all kinds of stuff that’s a lot worse than what I just mentioned in many fandoms and it’s usually not that hard to ignore that part of fandom-especially on social media-just filter out the tags and don’t go looking for them. That some of you bitch about it but literally go looking for it in the tags says a lot. I see several people who do this who have no problem with rape, torture, clone f******, and even underage stuff in the fandom so quit moralizing. There are profiles that invade tags that go around talking about ships that they feel are morally wrong-dude seriously keep it on your profile all you want but quit invading tags. If you have a problem with stuff that’s “morally wrong” I hate to break it to you but it’s all over the world and all over fandom. And those of you complaining about incest type ships-how many of you were fine with Jamie and Cersei in Game of Thrones because it was canon? How many of you are fine with writing about the weird romantic situations Loki gets into in both the myths and the comics (more on the below).
On the other hand-those of you who ship controversial ships that the majority find distasteful need to understand that most mainstream fans aren’t going to like them. People don’t or at least aren’t supposed to do this stuff in the real world and if you want to write in in your corner of fandom that’s fine. But most people aren’t going to like it and you need to stay in your lane and tag your stuff and not say it’s canon. To be fair until recently most of you did do this.
People ship Loki with a lot of weird ships. We’re talking about the guy/girl who in the myths and some parts of the comics turned into a mare and gave birth to a horse! And who in both the comics and the myths has monster children. Who ate a witch’s heart and gave birth to monsters. Many of you are fine with this because it’s canonical in most media. I doubt you’d be okay with it in real life-or that you assume that everybody who writes fan fiction (and there’s a lot of it) about it is okay with it in real life. Some people literally ship him with the Tesseract (SpaceFrost). Some people ship him with his clones (LokiCest). Some people ship him with Tom (FrostPudding). Yeah sometimes it’s crack ships-but sometimes it isn’t. I quite enjoy the SpaceFrost one and find it amusing-as well as FrostPudding-is some asshole going to come after for me for that? They’re actually popular ships although people usually turn the Tesseract into a person. 😁
Personally, I don’t ship any of the new ships (I’d rather see Loki with someone who doesn’t threaten his life or automatically want something from him; I’m kind of worn out on the enemies to lovers thing) but I really don’t care as long as people aren’t trying to force it on me or force me to say it’s canon. This is literally FrostMaster all over again-which isn’t canon but because it was a popular ship you had militants trying to harass people who said it wasn’t canon. Not everybody ships Loki with an older man who is supposed to control him in some way. If you do that’s fine and if you don’t that’s fine too.
I know a lot of people don’t like the Thorki ship-but I’ll say one thing for those shippers-at least most of the time they stay in their lane, understand that many people don’t appreciate their ship, don’t harass people over it, and tag their stuff. Several of you could stand to learn to do the same. And FYI, even if your ship does become canon that still doesn’t give you the right to harass people who don’t ship it or ship other ships. I’ve seen people saying racist stuff to people who ship Loki and Casey, and Mobius and Renslayer. Like, these are tiny ships and you’re threatened by them?? Your ships are the majority-isn’t that enough? I’ve also seen the some people trying to say that if you don’t ship Lokius you’re homophobic. Of course while there are some asshole homo/biphobes-there’s plenty of other queer people and others who aren’t homo/biphobic and who don’t ship them and some of you need to get that through your heads and stop using our queer identity to prop up your ship. It’s not always about canon though-it’s usually about what’s most popular. Bruce and Natasha was actual canon and I remember people who shipped them getting all kinds of shit from people who shipped a much more popular ship.
In no way am I calling out all shippers who ship these ships-just the militant ones who invade tags and harass people for not shipping their ship or for saying it’s not canon. Y’all getting ridiculous over fictional characters. Seriously, mind your own business and stay in your lane and stop messing with mainstream tags while not including your specific ship tags. I don’t want to look through the Loki series tag and see shippers fighting without these posts being tagged appropriately. It comes across that there’s no reason for you to do this other than spite. You can also tag stuff as “x negative” or “x critical”.
TLDR: Militant shippers (and only those) please stop invading each other‘s tags and stop invading mainstream tags. Tag your stuff and stay in your lane. And remember none of your ships are canon (although that may change but even then don’t harass people) so stop trying to push people into saying they are. Also people are going to ship Loki with all kinds of weird ships- considering his history in both mythology and the comics. If you don’t like it then stay out of the tags and also those of you that ship these ships please tag your stuff. And don’t use things like racism and queerphobia to either support or disparage ships.
I saw lots of “we were promised a love story between Loki and Mobius and Marvel queerbaited us” takes lately - especially on twitter and, uh, that’s not the case?
Michael Waldron never queerbaited us with ‘love story between Loki and Mobius’.
That quote was taken out of context. In the actual podcast interview (Vanity Fair 3.6.2021) he was talking with an interviewer about how his friend gave him an advice how “every story is a love story in a way” - because it’s true
This is the transcript:
I: “I was talking to someone much smarter than me who was just talking about how every story, should be a love story. That Wandavision is so compelling because it’s a love story and, this is at the beginning of Falcon and the Winter soldier, he was saying,’Falcon and the Winter soldier should be a love story about Sam and Bucky, it doesn’t have to be romance, it can just be about, you know, these two characters coming together.
MW: “I think that’s great, James Poncel, who’s one of my friends and collaborators, he said that before and it stuck with me that every love story is a love story or something like that, and it’s true. And that can be a story between a father and a son. Goodwill Hunting is a love story between Matt Damon, Robert Williams’ characters. So I’m always looking for that.
MW: I think Mobius was always, uh, we knew so much was going to ride on casting that character because you know he serves as kind of the face of the TVA and in a way, and as you can see from the trailers somebody that was gonna have a lot of interaction with Tom and his energy was gonna have to complement Loki’s energy in a compelling way. They had a relationship obviously, from Midnight in Paris, they’ve worked together on that for a little bit and they instantly clicked creatively and so, you know, that, I would say Mobius and Loki, that’s one of the love stories that you might see in Loki for sure. Although if you print that the fans are gonna, like, take it the wrong way-”
I: “No, no, I won’t, I won’t, I won’t put it that way. Don’t worry.”
MW: “I know our fans-”
I: “In that context I know what you mean. I mean, you referenced ‘Catch me if you can’ before. And I would consider 'Catch me if you can’ a love story between Tom Hanks’ character and Leonardo Dicaprio’s character.”
MW: “Exactly. Right.”
This isn’t queerbaiting. I’m queer myself and I understood where he was coming from perfectly. A love story doesn’t have to be romantic. It can be familiar, it can be platonic, it can be paternal etc., and his “wrong way” wasn’t him saying that shipping two male presenting characters is ‘wrong’. He was trying to, albeit a bit clumsily, clear up what he said so that his quote wouldn’t be taken out of context/misinterpreted and give fans like us a false sense of belief that we will get an actual romantic love story between Loki and Mobius.
Because like it or not, he IS right. Fans misinterpret a lot of things they read on the internet - thanks to certain sites twisting words (I’m looking at your MCU Direct) or straight up clickbait articles who post unfounded rumours.
Remember that “Loki willl have male and female love interest” rumour? It came from Daniel Richthman’s ‘rumours’ section of his Patreon. Daniel is a scooper and unfortunately has a very bad track record when it comes to actual plot details so it had a 99% chance of being wrong - yet people saw that rumour being picked up by large twitter accoungts and media and started taking it as an official/confirmed fact that came from Marvel. And now we have people claiming “Marvel promised us a male and female love interest for Loki”. No, they didn’t,
I, for one, appreciate the fact that Michael tried his best to not raise our expectations regarding Loki/Mobius. Because Loki and Mobius were never meant to be a romantic relationship from the start.
Falcon and the winter soldier was accused of queerbaiting bi Bucky and SamBucky and the Loki team wanted to avoid that and I appreciate that.
Kate said that Loki and Mobius have a paternal kind of relationship and I can definitely see that and you know, I dig it. In canon, Mobius does seem like a parental type of figure towards Loki and even told him that he sees him as a scared little boy.
I like Loki/Mobius as much as the next person, but at the end of the day it’s a fanon pairing, and it was never meant to be canon so saying they queerbaited us with this ship so we would watch the show is inaccurate.
