I actually recommend everyone write for a rarepair once because it completely changes your relationship with fandom. Engagement stops being numbers and starts being names. You know who's going to show up. You recognize usernames. Someone disappears for a while and then comes back and you're like “OH MY GOD WELCOME HOME.” It's incredibly wholesome. It is also deeply inconvenient when all six of you simultaneously get writer's block-

the popularity of straight hockey romance is so interesting to me because personally what draws me to hockey rpf is being able to create a romance where both characters are emerged in the setting of hockey and are either teammates or rivals. but in so much hockey romance on the market (even if it's not straight) one of the characters isn't a hockey player at all. like one time i was reading a hetero romance where the mmc is a hockey player and the fmc was a ballerina i believe and the fact that the mmc was an nhler affected the plot maybe two times... which leads me to believe that a lot of authors and readers write and read these books not because they are that interested in exploring hockey as a setting and more because they think hockey players are hot.
