Lincoln felt the awe dissipate slowly as he realized wherever they were (according to the paper, Metropolis) wasn’t so different from his own world. Skyscrapers, sports teams, and super aliens. Did they get out of the frying pan and into another fire? He hoped not.
“I can’t believe we pulled this off. I never really considered what was on the other side of the portal, but here we are about to cross a highway with a barrier. Isn’t life wonderful?”
“What did you think we were going to fall into Wonderland or something? You do remember that I came from through the portal too right?” Masha questioned with an amused laugh. There had been variations to her Earth too, places like Central City and Star City-- which she assumed at least the latter existed from the mention of Queen’s company in the paper-- but they didn’t have a Metropolis. “Yeah, I suppose it is.” She agreed, hoping the barrier and carefully tugging him along away from the street and into a more active area center.
Signs coated windows about this Superman guy, television screens in a store’s window showing coverage of what looked to be a grand funeral in Washington DC while a few people crowded around to watch. This definitely wasn’t where they’d come from-- or even where she had. People here had loved this alien, seen him as some type of ideal from what she could gather and while people may have liked Thor, this seemed to be on a whole new level.
