Always have eachother’s backs
Day twenty three of Soulmate September . @tsshipmonth2020
Prompt: “At a certain age you switch bodies with your soulmate for 24 hours.
“
Warning: bullying, violence
Virgil was turning 18 tomorrow. That meant that if his soulmate was already 18, he was going to switch bodies with his soulmate. Just freaking great.
Still, he talked with his dads, and they said they were ready for it to happen, so the only person who had to be ready now was Virgil.
Before going to sleep, he wrote a note, explaining everything his soulmate would need to know. His name, his schedule for the day, where he went to school, the impotant stuff.
He also got out an outfit for the next day. He didn’t need his soulmate to ruin his reputation as an emo.
When he thought he has done enough he finally went to bed. Of course it took a while to fall asleep, but eventually he did.
When he woke up the next morning, he first noticed how bright the room was. Didn’t his soulmate hear about blinds? The next thing he noticed was the pounding at the door. “Roman! Mom said that if you don’t get up now she’ll make you walk to school.” A male voice said. ‘So my soulmate’s name is Roman.’ Virgil thought.
“I’ll be down in a few minutes!” Virgil shouted back, and holy heck, his voice was deep.
Virgil got up and started looking for clothes to wear. He found the closet, but most of the clothes he could find were bright colors. Eventually he found a black hoodie and a pair of black jeans in the huge closet.
He got dressed, then walked to the bathroom. Thank god the guy had his own bathroom.
Virgil washed his face and brushed his teeth, then did his hair, and fortunately, found some makeup. Yes, Virgil thought his soulmate was handsome, but he would never go out without makeup, no matter whose body he was in.
Finally he was ready to walk out of the room.
When he did walk out, he almost got lost trying to find his way to the kitchen. The house was huge. Thankfully, he was able to follow the voices of his soulmate’s family.
When he walked to the kitchen, all heads turned to him. “Uh...Morning.” Virgil muttered.
“Roman, are you ok? You look... different.” A woman sitting at the table, probably Roman’s mother, asked.
‘Well, time to explain’ He thought. And he did it. “Luckly, they were all fine with it. They even helped Virgil understand more things about Roman. He was a theatre geek, a popular guy, and he went to the same school as Virgil.
At least the last thing was helpful. Now all Virgil had to do was find his body in the crowd at school.
When he finally found himself, he did a double take. He wasn’t wearing what he was supposed to, and he was talking to people. That just wouldn’t do. He walked up to his soulmate, grabbed his arm and dragged him away. Thank god his soulmate’s body was stronger than his.
Virgil dragged Roman in an empty classroom and closed the door. “What do you think you’re doing?”
“Me? You’re the one who dragged me away... Ooooh you must be my soulmate.” Roman said. “I’m Roman, but you probably already know that, and you must be Virgil.”
“Yeah. Now what do you think you’re doing wearing that? I gave you specific instructions of what to do and what to wear.”
“You’re the one to talk. Just look at what you’re wearing. You’re making me look emo. And besides, all the rules you gave me were boring.”
“Those rules were there because I have a reputation to keep. I can’t have you going around and ruining that.”
“Well so do I.” Roman complained. “But you don’t seem to care about it either. Besides, the whole point of this is to change our lives a bit. Make them less boring and repetitive, but if it really bothers you that much, we can go to your place after school and just stay there.”
“Fine.” Virgil sighed. “Meet me at the entrance when classes end.”
Classes ended 20 minutes ago, and Roman still didn’t show up. Something wasn’t right, and Virgil had an idea of what it was, so he took off through the halls of the school.
Just as he thought, he found Roman on the floor by his locker, surrounded by guys twice his size who were kicking and punching him.
“Hey!” Virgil shouted. “Get away from him!”
The bullies turned to Virgil “And what are you going to do?”
Virgil walked up to the bully and punched him in the face, knocking him to the floor. “Leave.”
The bullies ran away, dragging their friend with them.
Virgil turned to Roman. “Are you ok?”
“I’m fine, but how often does this happen to you?” Roman asked concerned.
“More than I would like, but we don’t have time to talk about this now. We have to go home.” Virgil helped Roman up and they both walked home.
After cleaning Virgil’s body up, the boys sat on the bed and started talking about everything and anything. Virgil never thought it would be that easy to open up to a new person, but Roman was different. He was easy to talk to, and he wouldn’t think Virgil’s interests were weird.
Soon, Virgil had to go back to Roman’s house so that Roman could wake up in his bed the next morning.
Still, for once, Virgil felt truly happy with someone new, and from that day on, they always had eachother’s backs.
