From the third Tokyo Ghoul Novel “Sekijitsu” [Old Days]

We have a little story between Kaneki and Hide here, was so touching I had to share it ;___;

Summary of Chapter 2 (Kodoku - Lone Reading):

- Kaneki is still a high school sophomore and lives with his aunt. Yep, the one who drove his mother to death.

- she basically treats Kaneki like shit, makes him no meals (besides having kids she cooks for), doesn’t recognize him… Kaneki feels awful living there.

- So one day Kaneki comes home and his aunt decided to throw away all his books, the ones he got from his father. Obviously Kaneki is totally shocked about this

- she also threw away a magazine Hide was lending to Kaneki, that’s why Kaneki has no choice but to tell him the truth when Hide asks about it.

- they search the place where thrown away books get collected and find them + Hide’s magazine.

- Before that Hide pressures Kaneki’s aunt into letting Kaneki keep his books, more or less threating her how he will he reveal her behaviour if she doesn’t.

- The Happy End (or at least kind of, poor Kaneki D:)
