“Until you benefit from us? You Knights already tried that once. Held a good Mancer captive for ten years and tortured him for information. Though apparently y’all aren’t any good at extracting information because you got nothing from him. What makes you think you’ll get anything from us?” Well, the words were out of his mouth before he knew what he was saying. At least it was great for a final speech (speech being a loose term for what he had just said).
He shot Juvion another look this time saying sorry I definitely fucked it up and we could die now. Sometimes he cursed his own impulsiveness in situations such as this. It made it hard for him to keep his mouth in check. Though in his defense he didn’t usually have to watch what he said. He was also used to being the most powerful creature in all circumstances so he definitely felt a bit lower than he was used to at the moment.
It was then that he remembered the canteen full of water at his side. If it came to it he could use that to fight while he pulled more water from the environment around him. Without moving he started feeling through the ground and plants, measuring how much water he would have to work with if he had to fight.
This was the opposite of great. Juvion flinched away from the sudden flames which surrounded them, thankful that at least they weren’t being directly roasted. He was going to suggest they offer the dragon something, some reason to keep them alive. Maybe Thon could give her a ship. Which would be entirely useless, with the wings and everything… but none of that mattered because when Thon opened his mouth, Juvion just stared at him blankly, knowing these would likely be the last words that either of them heard.
Not that he could especially blame the Captain, as Juvion was fully aware that his own thoughts were failing him and he was scared beyond all measure. He really didn’t want to die, not like this. It was purposeless, and worse, it was dumb. He’d always known he’d die in battle, but he’d been holding out the faintest of hopes that it wouldn’t be a completely humiliating affair, if not for his sake then for the sake of his girlfriend, his teacher, his group.
Trying to salvage what little he could from Thon’s insane bravado, Juvion called to the dragon, “I’m fairly certain she can get whatever she wants from us. Or from me, at least.” Bowing respectfully, he chanced a glance up at her. “I yeild, like a napkin in a harsh wind. Please do not kill me.” Because, he reasoned, if she assumed that he knew anything at all, which he did not, he might be able to buy enough time to get Thon away, who certainly did know things.
Masla could not help the laugh that escaped her. Oh, sometimes these creatures did amuse her so. “How long do you think it will take me to extract secrets from you?” She asked, her voice soft with a threatening lilt to it as she turned her head so that she was looking at the two legged creature directly in the eyes. “You creatures are soft. Perhaps if I were to accidentally set something on fire.” She emitted a fresh puff of smoke, letting it engulf the two creatures. “That would get you chattering wouldn’t it?” She asked once the smoke had cleared.
She turned her eye to the ‘Stupid One’s companion’. “I do not think I would be letting any of get away for the time being at least.” With a powerful flap of her wings she was airborne and had her claws wrapped around the torso of each two legged being. “Come why don’t we get some air, some you would say and contemplate of whether I would be able to get you to reveal all of your secrets or not.”
Masla had never had this much fun in quite a while, though she would never admit to it.
With a few powerful flaps she was far above the treetops and still climbing. Her claws were wrapped tightly around each of the humanoid creature. For a second she hovered where she was, just to see if the creatures would calm down. And then she suddenly dropped like a stone, free-falling through the air. The wind rushed by her and around her but she merely threw her head back in a loud roar before opening her wings, where she had them pinned to her side, and shoot up towards the sky again.
“What do you think? Still believe I would not be able to gain any secrets?”
