Why does it feel like Tree Hill has been perfectly preserved in a bubble? It’s like not one thing about this place has changed over the years.
Well that’s Tree Hill for you. The people might change but the scenery never does.
It’s nice to see so many familiar faces around town lately.
Including me?
Mason Kane 10 years Later
Though Mason Kane did get to live the life of a famous musician, it didn’t late long. Instead of breaking up before he went on tour, Mason and Kara stayed together, which Mason considers to be one of the best decisions he’s ever made. While on tour, Mason made plenty of time to visit Kara, while she traveled the world. After a year of playing for millions of fans, doing interviews and signing autographs, Mason went back home to Tree Hill. He continued to work at Red Bedroom Records as a producer and manager, but also decided to take some local classes at a community College to get his degree in teaching. However, it wasn’t long before he and Kara recieved the surprise of a lifetime; she was pregnant. Though shocked, Mason was ecstatic and 9 months later, Kara gave birth to their son, Gavin Anakin Kane. A few months after Gavin was born, Mason proposed to Kara.
While he finished college, Kara stayed home with Gavin for the first year of his life. He was a little relieved because it stalled Kara from enrolling in the police academy. Of course he wanted her to live out her dream and help people, but Mason was terrified that something would happen to her on the job. When she did start the police academy, Mason mostly stayed at home with their son. It was new for him, being a stay at home dad, but he loved it.
A few years later, Mason was a part time substitute teacher, something he loved. Just when he had gotten used to Kara’s job, he found out that she was about to become a detective. To say Mason was upset would be an understatement. But shortly after that announcement, he found out Kara was pregnant with their second child. He hoped this would change her career path a bit. One day, they were driving while once again arguing about Kara’s job. That was a tragic day he’d never forget. The day they lost their second child.
Now, Mason is on his way to becoming a full fledged teacher. But with hiding Kara’s third pregnancy in fear of losing another kid, raising an 8 year old and fighting off one of Mason’s obsessed students, the former Musician is sure he can handle it all.
We’re flawed - Tamina + Mason
Tamina had spent most of her life making messes that everyone else around her cleaned up, she craved the feeling of attention on herself, she needed the feeling but in the past year she had done a lot more screwing up than she thought possible. She wasn’t sorry that she had no warm pleasant feelings towards her best friend’s girlfriend, but she was extremely sorry that it had hurt one of the only people she tried her hardest not to. With Bentley being back in town, and their sleeping together only for him to go back to ignoring her was heart breaking. She deserved it but everyone was freezing her out, and she just needed her best friend. Tamina had been on a five day binder, no food or sleep, just alcohol, and anything else to make the party more fun and outside Mason’s loft was the last place she expected to end up but she needed to see her best friend. Tamina no longer had the energy to fight with anyone, she had no energy left in her. Her knuckles lightly knocked at the bottom of the door, as she sat herself with her back against the siding of the building. It felt like she had been knocking for hours, and at this point she wasn’t positive if Mason was even home.
Mason wasn’t a saint and he never tried to pretend to be perfect, that’s for sure. He had been through a lot in his life and most of that had given him plenty of trust issues. Because of this, the musician had few people in his life who he really trusted. One of those people, Tamina, was on the urge of breaking that trust. He knew she was anything but perfect, but he always supported her, no matter what. And he always forgive her. But this time, something was different. This time, he wasn’t sure if he could forget and move on. Tamina hurt Kara, his girlfriend. It was no secret that the two girls were enemies, but he wanted them to at least be civil toward one another. He thought Tamina was making an effort when she asked Kara to hang out, but that was the last thing on her mind. For the past few weeks, Mason was avoiding Tamina. Yes, he was really busy with work and getting ready for his album to be released but he was still upset with his friend. However, maybe it was time he stopped acting like a child and at least made an attempt to talk to Tamina. He sighed and pulled out his phone. Just as he was about to call her, he heard a knock on his door. Puzzled, he left his bedroom and opened the front door. “Tamina?” He said barely above a whisper the minute he saw his friend. “You look....come inside.” He’d seen her in distress before, but nothing like this.
“Hey, I’m so sorry. I know I’m late. Come in, and just give me ten minutes.”
“Kara? What the hell happened?”
God, why does the library here suck so much? I signed up for this book months ago and they still haven’t gotten it out to me. At this rate, I have a better chance of getting to a movie adaptation than I do the damn book.
For all you know the movie might be able to give you a better perspective anyway.
I guess an extra hand would be helpful. Thanks Mason.
It’s no probably, really. I’m just...trying to be a good person.
–Hey! It has, hasn’t it? How have you been?
That’s for sure man. I’ve been good. What about you? What have you been up to?
Okay well now you’re just twisting my words [Christine chuckles] I’ve been good, thank you, what about yourself? It’s good to see you.
What makes you say that? I’m glad. I’ve been good as well. Pretty busy though. Yeah, it’s definitely been a while.
Yeah, of course. Come in.
Thanks man. I appreciate it.
Hey, it’s okay. I totally get it. Are you busy this weekend? I’m finally going to be here during the weekends again and if you’re not busy you could always spend time with your favorite girl.
My weekend is completely open as of right now. But I’d definitely love to spend it with my favorite girl.
You’ve been busy, I know you said that.
I have been though, that isn’t a lie.
I want you to know
Mase?! Oh my ! Hi! How have you been? It’s been way too long.
I’ve been good...busy but good. What about yourself?
|T| Mason James Kane, I have been outside your loft for the last twenty minutes. I'm not leaving so you might as well just come down and let me in. I need to talk to you. I hate that we're not talking... You're avoiding me, and don't say you aren't.
[T] Really with the middle name? I...fine I’ll let you in. Hang tight.
[T] Are you alright?
[T] I’m fine
Hey stranger! Long time no see. You know, for a moment there I almost forgot what you look like. [Christine laughs and can’t help but grin as you approach]
You’re just in luck, I’m schedule for a face transplant next week. How have you been?
