Also marina, my absolute love. My baby. She deserved so much better

Okay just want to start this of by saying sorry for just disappearing again... I got very busy with work over the past 2 to 3 months </3

BUT as always very happy to yap about the Garde.

Marina is so over-hated and so underrated. Much like I said about Eight's character in my other rant, Marina is more than just her relationship with Eight. She is a very vital part of the Garde and without her they all would have died before even getting to the final battle for earth. Her healing legacy is the backbone of the (United) Garde's survival, without a healing legacy on the team there would have been no story. John wouldn't gain healing and save Ella and Sarah's lives in Dulce Base, Eight would’ve prematurely died to his prophecy, Six would have died countless times without healing the same with Nine, especially in the fight against Five.

Just because Marina is more reluctant to fight than the others does not change the fact that without her there would be nothing of the final stand we see in UAO. Growing up sheltered and ,to be completely honest, neglected by Adelina, Marina never lost hope that she would be reunited with the remaining Garde. She remains hopeful throughout even the worst of it. She believes in Five more than the other Garde (despite the outcome of that she was still hopeful in everything leading up to it), she believes her intuition in finding Eight's body in the Mogadorian encampment in the Everglades, she believes the Sanctuary is more than it seems, she trusted in the Entity and its power more than Six and Adam.

In the Final Battle Marina is the one who creates the biggest opening for victory. She discovered that healing is what damages Setrakus Ra, which creates the opening for John to weaken him to the brink of death.

She is kind, she is caring, she is empathetic, and she is the most patient of them all.

I do not tolerate any Marina slander I love her so much and she is so underrated I wish people could see past the idea that she is "Useless" or "just Eight's partner" she is one of the more emotionally complex of the Garde and despite her Cepan not believing in their duty she thrived and survived the war and i will always love her as a character. :D

After the six post, i NEED to know what you think of Eight and Nine

excited to rant again thank you anon! :D

Eight is so forgotten by the writers and so generalised in the fandom.

He is more than the playful jester of the group, and he's more than his relationship with marina. He is a character who feels things very deeply, after Reynolds was murdered by mogadorians as a result of a Lola (The woman Reynolds fell inlove with) betrayed them and exposed them to the mogadorians, Eight was extremely reluctant to trust humans ever again. He becomes reluctant to trust not just humans, but even his own kind.

This is shown through him making Six, Marina, and Ella (Crayton also) different anonymous versions of himself to prove that they are who they say they are. But although he is extremely reluctant to trust anyone as soon as he realised Six, Marina, and Ella were who they said they were he revealed the details of his past with very little prompting. He shows extreme anxiety and fear towards the cave drawing precognition of is death to the point he vandalises it so that he doesn't have to face the depiction of his demise.

Again he is unfortunately very forgotten by the writers, and when he was finally mentioned it was for Marina's benefit and is made out to be the "only" way she could move on without anger (Kissing her as the entity and fading to energy in her arms). His kindness and selflessness is what gets him killed in an exact depiction of his greatest fear.

He was doomed from the start and his character is tarnished through poor writing choices and generalisations (pizza obsessed, extremely laid-back, unafraid, a prankster). He is more than just Marina's lover and he is more than just a laid-back jester.

I could go on... but I won't.

Moving onto Nine.

He's brash, he's reckless, he's flawed, and his mindset is a result of poor situation after poor situation.

His initial capture was the first thing. After being given a false sense of hope seeing Maddy and her parents reunited and then murdered infront of him by a piken. Maddy looks to him and screams for help while ther is nothing he can do in any realm of possibility.

After Sandor is caught too it gets even worse. They torture Sandor infront of him for nothing but their own amusement. There is no information that they want from Nine, the just want entertainment and choose to physically torture Sandor while mentally torturing Nine by making him watch. Eventually after Nine breaks out of the force field and gets to Sandor he tells Nine to kill him instead of fighting this pointless battle. Nine carries the unbearable weight of killing Sandor on his shoulders and he never gets over it.

Nine uses arrogance and sarcastic humour to put up a false front infront of the other Garde and allies. This is first fully shown when The Garde (except Five) all reunite in Dulce Base and he starts flirting with Six, after he sees the reaction it provokes he continuously pokes fun at everyone, almost bullying them (Specifically Five).

Despite his laid-back (almost Blasé) and arrogant front he truly does care for the Garde (again with the exception of Five). He worries about Ella and comforts her after reading Crayton's letter, he helps train Eight and Marina, he apologises to Sam for what happened in West Virginia.

You get the point I'm making, despite seeming uncaring and arrogant he truly does care for his friends and he feels their hurt deeply and he doesn't want bad to happen to them.

Of course my point could be contradicted easily by his behaviour towards Five. The bullying, the body shaming, the snarky comments, etc. and I fully understand that. Five is always going to be a traitor in his eyes. Five worked with the people who were the direct reason for all of his suffering. The mogs killed Maddy, and they tortured Sandor to the point Nine had to kill Sandor with his own hands. He would never be able to see past Five's affiliation with the Mogadorians. But before Five's relation to the Mogs was even revealed Nine was just being cruel for no reason. He always hated Five, and there was no real reason towards it. Five is an anomaly in his eyes for zero reason.

I could again, go on and on but I feel like that covers alot of my thoughts on Eight and Nine. :)

So, main series Six (IAN4-UAO) most powerful Garde in my opinion. Breaking out of the West Virginia mog base at the age of 13 by herself with ONLY invisibility that she hasn't had very long. How could you not love her 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️. Saving John's ass at the Highschool in Paradise, getting stabbed and shot, and still pulling off that insanely powerful storm (Wish we knew what that face in it was but oh well...). Despite having only 3/4 legacies (not including the physical enhancements all the Garde naturally have, but I will include the accelerated regeneration just because it technically still does pop up throughout the series even if it wasn't intended that way), she is the most powerful out of all the original Garde.

I do think the writers not expanding on her elemental manipulation further that controlling the weather (also fire in IAN4 one time at the end, and water in TPO6 when crossing the river) was a very poor choice as she could have been EVEN better than she already is when relying on only weather manipulation. But of course, like every character, she has her flaws especially in her and Sam's novellas (I don't even wanna talk about it </3).

Her flaws shine through specifically before her capture, she is impulsive, often doing what she solely believes is correct despite obvious signs of it not being correct (Responding to Two's post despite Katarina telling her that it's a very bad idea), shes VERY hard headed (in a stubborn way), when it came to Setrakus coming to the sanctuary on the anubis she refused to run away despite Ella's warning of someone is ensured to die, and refused when Sam told her she has to run and even when John simply implicated running. Once the idea is in her head she refuses to let it go.

But despite all of this she's still level-headed in a battle and has some of the most insane feats of the series (Beheading Setrakus after being stabbed through the back and chest by Phiri, the storm on the ship to take down the Anubis, Fighting Setrakus Ra alone and whiping out hundreds of mogs by herself, the storm in IAN4).

I could go on and on but I won't, and I will have some head-canons thought up and posted for you soon anon. I will hopefully be coming back with some art very soon aswell :D. I've been looking back on my past art recently and realised how much I have improved and I can't wait to start sharing it with everyone again. <3

The problem is that America has beaten down its people for decades and gotten them weak and desperate and now promises a way out, a way to transcend and rise above, through selling out their fellow man. They encourage contempt and hatred as one way ticket to not being included with the masses being death marched to poverty or imprisonment or whatever other bitter end surely awaits the people they’re told are beneath them. An embarrassingly large chunk of white men are just straight up nazis these days as a way to dissociate from the rest of the carnage around them, even if they’re broke and uneducated and from an impoverished background themselves. They’ll vote for and align themselves with anything for a taste of power and control that makes them feel a little less helpless. The same goes for minorities. They’ll punch down if they think it’ll get them somewhere, even if in reality they’re punching sideways. I don’t know what else to say, really. Everybody is so incredibly hateful. We are a loveless, disrespectful nation. We are so spread thin by our government that we would sell each other out in a heartbeat for an ounce of relief. This is what we’ve come to.

It’s not even about Trump at this point. He’s gonna get in office and do whatever he does and it’s gonna be a mess but whatever. This is indicative of deeper problem. This is just the ugly consequence of the already present reality in this country that we all just despise each other. There is no solidarity and there is no love. Trump being in office or not doesn’t change the fact that America is a breeding ground for violent hatred. Trump has given people a shining example of how to give in to the worst parts of your human nature and make it the problem of everyone around them. I don’t even know what we’re supposed to do about that. I don’t know if that’s something we can come back from. And if anything COULD be done about it, Trump certainly wouldn’t do it. Honestly, Kamala probably wouldn’t have either. We are so deeply fucked.

However, I must say, if you voted for Trump, I hope that peace never finds you. Instead, I hope clarity strikes you someday like a clap of lightning and you have to live the rest of your life with the knowledge and guilt of what you’ve done and who you are as a person.

Love yall. Shit is so bleak but the world keeps spinning until it doesn’t, I guess. We can’t count on the government for literally even a shred of progress or hope so just keep up the good fight in your own personal lives. That’s literally the only thing to be done at this point. Stay safe out there. Maybe buy a gun.

I could pick any character in this series and write out a full essay about how someone somewhere interpreted them wrong. However most of them would be low hanging fruit, or out of date with the current vibes.

What HAS been bothering me is something specific that we all got wrong about Six. This scene: 

At the end of the series, they're all going off in their own ways, they're all finding something else to do with their lives. They're all finding ways to keep doing work; Nine is teaching, John is rebuilding, Adam's decolonizing his culture, and Marina is doing…whatever we were supposed to interpret that as. So we look to Six, who's the second in command, the one with her head on straight, the one that's gung ho and go go go and battle ready, and she's….on vacation? 

We were all so mad at Frey for this. You can scroll back on THIS BLOG and find where I was personally upset about it. How dare he! She'd never! She'd keep giving back no matter what!

I reread Six's Legacy recently, and I was surprised by the gap between fanon’s interpretation of Katerina as a free loving battle mom and who she actually is. 

She's soft. She pushes Six to do normal homework, to read textbooks and fairy tales, to play board games! She believes in meditation and building Six into a well rounded individual. She wanted her to know about earth and to /live/ on earth when it was all over. She was also a squishy af romantic who'd left her family behind

(Ouch) 

Out of all of them, I think Six's Cepan had the highest hopes for her. And she's the one who's the most mentally sound out of all of them! She's the one who makes sound plans, who keeps her head most of the time, who falls in love with another mostly stable person and builds a life with him. (Cannot stress how healthy samix is compared to all the rest of that). When the war ends, the sane soldiers go home, make babies, and move on with their lives. And since half human/loric people are canon in the past, I think the concept of them building a family and a life together is fully in reach in her mind. She's spent her entire life having to go places out of necessity, having to run and run for years because settling wasn't possible for her. Now suddenly she has freedom and a traveling partner to go wherever she wants. There's special rocks that let them teleport without ever having to go through customs. I'd be eating lunch in spain and skinny dipping in the Tallahassee river every single fucking day, personally, 

And it's not like she's sworn off using her skills forever! There's several points in legacies reborn where she steps in behind the scenes to move the plot along. The side novellas for the reborn series are ALL about the stupid shit Sam and Six are doing to clean up the government's poorly managed problems. She just doesn't personally trust the governments they were just fighting against to protect her or anyone she cares about, which I honestly think is the more sane conclusion. She's tired, she's RE-tired, and she's earned it.
