A little over a year ago I started designing alternate badges for my beloved Mass United. I did it for the photoshop practice but there were 3 or 4 that I actually liked a great deal and I’m pretty much ecstatic to say that one of those is going to be used for the new Mass United FC North Shore! Follow the link to find out about the partnership with North Shore United that created the new team and will begin playing in the American Soccer League this August.
Now to the design…I started with a pretty basic shield shape and added to it (and removed from it) in order to mimic the tri-point hats worn by many colonists. The club name is at the top of the inner section, above the original flag of the Sons of Liberty and of course, United’s Rider figure. The yellow banner has North Shore United across it with the orbiting soccer ball from NSU’s current logo below it. The ball’s orbit path in this case also represents the unity, if you will, between the 2 clubs. This needed to represent both clubs equally and I think I managed to do that without making it look like I was trying to.

Together we will offer opportunities to players of all ages, from North Shore United's U10s all the way to Mass United's American Soccer League team. Today marks 100 days until the World Cup tournament gets underway in Brazil, here we take a look back at when it was first held their in June of 1950.

Mass United FC is proud to announce that it will be a charter member of the American Soccer League, which will begin play in 2014. “Joining ASL is a magnificent opportunity,” said Mass United CEO/GM Jim Antonakas. “We’re very excited to be ushering in a new age of soccer that we feel will be good not only for Mass United, but for soccer in North America as a whole.”

Players will be playing for professional contracts on non NCAA-compliant teams. In addition to on-the-field training, the combine will also feature ASL board members, team owners, and coaches.
