VERY excited to share a longfic that's been in the works for several months as part of the 2025 @malevolentbigbang!! academia, mystery, and jarthur running madly around 1930s England - i had a great time turning this vibe into a full-fledged fic :D

Brown met blue like mountains meet the distant sky, lofty yet grounding, and Chuuya jerked his head in a nod. He received only a coy tilt in response, but before he could linger, Higuchi was picking the opening riff of their next number. He chugged his water, brushed his bangs from his face, and returned to the microphone.

His eyes wouldn’t stop darting back down to the man in the crowd, though, a motionless anchor.

His mind rested on it anyway when he returned to the lab.

What are you doing?

This time, when Viktor's voice flooded his ears, he didn't startle. He had felt the undercurrent rising, like static building and breaking, and known he was there.

"Just figuring something out."

And what is this 'something'?

Jayce's pencil paused over the paper. Could he tell him? Should he tell him? This wasn't a commitment to violence; this was a precaution, a last resort. Weapons that were made were always used, but these hadn't been made yet: these were tentative designs, scribbled on burnable blueprints. Somehow, it still felt like a betrayal.

Made some friends and liked them so much I decided to make a pattern! I've never actually drawn one up like this so it might be kinda wonky

EDIT: I forgot to mention that unless you're ok with these guys tipping over you should put something in the bottom to weight them (beans, plastic pellets, ECT.)

I just saw a BEAUTIFUL post about TMA, and it was a contrapuntal poem, which I didn’t even know about until just now, so honestly my idea of what they are may be wrong, but now that I do I’m thinking of malevolent poem ideas, and I just AHHHH

okay listen listen imagine these as the last lines

But I will choose What I know

this too. shall pass.

together: but I will choose what I know: this too shall pass.

separate (John): but I will choose this too.

separate (Arthur): what I know shall pass.

OKAY DO YOU GET THE VISION THOUGH? like John’s themes of choosing who he is, refusing to accept his identity as The King, and making the continual choice to be different, and Arthur’s themes of grief and loss and letting go, and then you put that together and they are choosing, TOGETHER, to choose each other, and to let go.

(Maybe I should explain that more?)

“I will choose what I know” is, in my eyes, sort of a way to say, of course, that they will choose the familiar mantra of “this too shall pass”, but also that they will choose the familiar belief in each-other. they choose to hope in change, whether in their circumstance, or in the character of the other. (Arthur believing despite past mistakes that John can be different from The King, and John believing despite past mistakes that Arthur can be merciful and kind, like calling him out in Addison, and other such times)

Anyway I hope that makes sense and I really hope I don’t chicken out of completing this like I love to do with fan-projects
