like, just saying, in childhood you have long vowed to never be anything like them, but it's that slow horror of growing up and understanding your parents more and more, then one day waking up and realising you have become exactly your parent's child

Fast forward like a year or two my friend also got sucked into andy weir's writing via stealing my copy of the martian off my shelf, and look at that they had a copy of andy weir's new book project hail mary, and so I did the only logical thing and stole it off their shelf, read in one sitting, then promptly proceeded to forget all about it. Every time my beloved and I are driving folks around we end up needing to explain the myth of Cassandra.

You see, Cassandra was a devotee of the god Apollo. Apollo wanted to smash real bad and blessed her with the gift of prophecy. But Cassandra did not return his feelings and Apollo was pissed. He couldn’t revoke a divine blessing but he added the condition that no one would ever believe her prophecies.
