M!A: be little mito, chasing ging around for three days.
Where’s my bitch at?
Bel plopped down onto Mito’s lap with a frustrated grumble. “Stupid men thinking I’m 12…” It looked like she didn’t realize she sat on someone rather than something
Wth a few blinks in shocked, Mito neither fret nor believed someone sat on her lap—It’s been awhile since any one of her babies have done that.
What an adorable girl?
She remain silent for a moment before speaking; the last thing she wished to do was to startle her, but is there really any other option?
"It must be the pigtails."Her voice chirped cheerfully in response."You look very young with a hairdo like that… Is that supposed to be bad?" Honestly, the older woman didn’t see the fault in looking younger in appearance compared to one’s actual age. Maybe it’s due to the fact she would love to look a bit younger herself.
He had to hand it to her. She came prepared. He eyed the comb in her hand for a moment before looking at her face with a raised brow. The curious look quickly turned to one of slight confusion as well as embarrassment.Â
“y-you don’t need to do that. I can comb through my hair once I get home, really.” he protests, his face heating up slightly. He was a nineteen year old boy getting his hair combed out by his friends mother figure and they were out in public no less.
He sighs in defeat and submits himself to be mothered over. It wasn’t that bad he guessed. He winced every so often when the comb hit one of the worse knots he had been sporting. He only had himself to blame for this really.
Without even considering how embarrassing it was for the young blonde, she tried to gently, but firmly comb through his nest of hair. How can he go out in public with knotted hair? The woman tried to make it as little painful as possible, avoiding to tug too much on his hair with the comb. Wouldn’t want to pull out any hair from his scalp. She picked at it with the edge with only quick, small teasing to get the main root of the problem out.
"Better now than never." Her voice rang in a cheery tone, high pitched and giddy as though this was the highlight of her day. How can it not be? She met another one of Gon’s friends and that was an even more excuse for her to feel excited.
Small talk.
"Has anyone ever told you that with your hair, you can pass off as a gi—hu?"Mito forced herself to cough. “—an actor."
NAILED IT.
Awkward small talk. Guess Ging isn’t the only one whose is one awkward dandy—that wallflower butt of him…

“Mito? Is that you?” Killua had never visited Whale Island properly at Gon’s side, having stayed at Kukuroo instead, but months ago he had met the mother figure by chance.Â
“…Is Gon around?”
"Hmmm..."
The woman needed a moment; she wasn't absolutely sure where Gon ran off to and she wasn't going to send Killua off on a wild goose chase to find him. Might as well keep his little friend entertained.
"Take a seat, I'm sure he will be here soon. In the meantime..." She left to bring back a tray of chocolate chip cookies. "... have a cookie."
“Ah- is this really for me?” He inquired, obvious incredulity in his voice. “I’ll treasure it, thank you.”
"Maybe you should use it to get your hair out of your eyes. There's no need to hide away a pretty forehead!" Her voice slightly squealed melodiously.
An hour and a half later, Gon reluctantly made his way downstairs and found Mito in the kitchen. Â He was more hungry than sorry, but he had to apologize some time.
“Aunt Mito?  I was wrong to complain about no desert.  I’m sorry. Can I eat now?”
Mito was in the middle of mixing batter over the kitchen counter when her brow raised and she tried extremely hard to contain her smile. She was more than fully aware that Gon will be one hell of a teenager with one belittling attitude, but she knew he will grow out of it one way or another. Until then, she might as well not hold anything against him; it will only add more fuel to the fire, but that doesn’t mean she cannot tease him.
"Hmmm... I don’t know—Can you?”
Her smile grew as she turned to face him. "Lunch should be ready in bit. Take a seat."
"Why are you hugging me...?" (if it's still alright to send this in uvu)
Mito’s face was beginning to heat up with embarrassment, but embraced the loving interaction. Well, she cannot fight her maternal instincts– she must hug this random stranger. She must. She must! SHE MUST.
“I must!” The lady sounded like a complete nut bag, but she treats everyone as her baby with neither and’s, if’s, nor but’s. There was no denying any form of affection to any stranger. Her nose scrunched up as her arms tighten around the female and pulled her into a loving grasp. “I must! I must!” The motherly figure of many didn't even answer the main question at hand- why? “Uhm… What’s your name dear?” The woman’s entire tone changed without ever releasing her grip on the other; she did not know her own strength to be grasping another individual in such a manner.
Now she asks for a name.
“You look like you could use a hand.”
After one heck of a long, troublesome morning preparing for work, Mito had an even longer day ahead of her to complete small tasks in her field of an excruciating career choice. As a fishmonger to a very cheap business on Whale Island, the young woman does the work of five people. Unfortunately, one of the tasks she is stuck to carry out is to make deliveries around the island from the business to other’s homes.
Great.
Carrying three, petite boxes of different types of dead fish isn’t as easy as one would think it would be–if one was ever in their right mind to think it would be–on a hot morning through town. Moments of dwelling and drifting in and out in her own thoughts, she hears a sweet voice smacking her back to reality.
“Ex-Excuse me?” Her voice cracked due to her nerves vibrating in her chest as a friendly smile slowly drew onto her face.
Kurapika winced at the tug of his rather messy hair and gave her a slightly off putting look. The look quickly melted away into an expression of mild recognition. “mito? Oh! Gon has told me a lot about you. You’re his guardian.”Â
He chose to ignore the small mistake she had started to make seeing as she corrected herself before she even finished. “er yes I have? I know my hairs a bit messy but it’s not that bad….right?” the blond sighed, mostly to himself. He really needed to take better care of himself.
.
"Oh, you have?" Mito pulled out a small comb from her pocket; it was always something she kept at hand due to Gon's coarse hair being hard to manage. Knowing he never takes proper care of it, it becomes necessary to be prepared for such situations. Slowly, her fingers slipped through Kurapika's hair.
What a knotty mess..
She forced a grin of reassurance while tenderly beginning to comb through his blonde locks in an endearing manner.
"I wouldn't say it's good, dear. It's a bit tangled and..."The woman thought of how she should put it-----"It may hurt."
“Yes Aunt Mito..”  Gon muttered and turned to walk away.  Wait a minute! “D -did you just say..no desert?!”  He spun around and looked up at her utterly scandalized.  “I’m a growing boy!  You  you can’t… that’s BULL!”  Â
Gon stomped angrily into his room and slammed the door.  What the hell?  It’s not like he was doing it on purpose.  He did hate math, but Gon tried his best to get the right answers so he wouldn’t have to do it anymore!!
He groaned and flopped face down on his bed.
She was completely taken back from Gon's impertinent temperament.
Excuse me?
Within a few seconds, it dawned on Mito that Gon was having a little tantrum; she could feel vessel ready to burst. Yet, she was neither going to encourage such behavior from Gon nor fight him over it. Instead of provoking like any other guardian may do, she chose to ignore his rude behavior and let him get over it on his own. Maybe if Mito gave him his space, he'll be just fine.
"Go ahead and pout. You can come down once you start acting more respectful." A sigh puffed from her chest to refrain her from losing her stature.
And with that, expected an apology from Gon for such an impolite performance.
